Janice Rieben Obituary

Janice M. (Jan) Rieben, 81, died May 1, 2023, at her home in Eureka, MT. She was born in Savage, Montana, February 7, 1942, to Jess Waters and Pearl (Benningfield) Waters. The family had resided in eastern Montana as well as Browning, and Essex before coming to north Lincoln County in 1952. Jan attended Lincoln County High School in Eureka, graduating in the Class of 1962. Jan remained in the Fortine and Eureka area where she worked at a variety of jobs until her retirement. Being a person of diverse interests and hobbies, Jan particularly enjoyed gardening, collecting and restoring antiques. Preceding Jan in death were her husband, Bob Rieben; her parents, her brothers Jess, Tom, Joe and Mick; and former husband Roger Bernhard and 3 grandchildren. Jan is survived by her children Scott (Marion) Bernhard of Deer Lodge, MT; Melani Kirkedahl of Texas; and Leonard (Suzanne) of Lacey, WA; sisters Leona and Eva Jean; 6 grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren. Services will be on Thursday May 11th at 11:00 a. m. at Fortine Community Church. Arrangements are under the care of the Schnackenberg Funeral Home of Eureka.
