Janice King, age 77 of Delwood, IL passed away on October 6, 2023 at Carrier Mills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Carrier Mills, IL. She was born August 5, 1946 to Kenneth "Red" and Helen (Ewell) Barnes in Somerset, IL. She married Dorris King on September 24, 1971, he preceded her on February 2, 2017. Janice was a member of Cedar Bluff Church. She enjoyed to crocheting, swinging in her swing and to cook. She loved her family especially her children and grand children. Janice is survived by two sons, Darren (Hope) King, Dusty (Heather) King, six grandchildren, Zachary, Rashalyn, Tristian, Dacey, Dalton, Harlyn; three great grandchildren, Alaina, Braxton, Malachi; three siblings, Ronnie (Bev) Barnes, Joan (Clifford) DeBose, Judy (Bill) Oglesby; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, and husband she was preceded in death by son, David King; and four siblings, Harold Barnes, Donnie Barnes, Jimmy Barnes, Joyce DeBose. Memorial service will be 5:00 pm on Tuesday October 10, 2023 at Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville, IL. Pastor Mandy Curry will conduct the service. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Judith Evelyn Meinders went to be with the Lord on October 23, 2023. She was born May 21, 1936 in Livermore, Kentucky to Franklin and Gene Chaddock Tucker. She graduated from Rosiclare High School and Southern Illinois University. She was a college professor and Business Department Head at Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She was married to Lee Meinders for 59 years until his death in 2020. She was a devoted, wife, educator, sister, daughter and aunt. She is survived by her niece Alison (Stan) Powles of Golconda, IL, her nephew Wade Barnerd of New York, New York, her great nieces, Hilary (Mike Parker) Powles of St. Louis, Missouri and Emily Powles of Marion, Illinois and her step-sister, Carol (Roger) Hannan of Rosiclare, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Meinders, her parents Frank and Gene Tucker, her sister, Joan Perry and her step-mother, Hazel Tucker. Judy had a great love of nature and animals. She was an avid reader, loved country music, was an accomplished cook and in her later years enjoyed spending time with her niece and her family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Elizabethtown, Illinois. Graveside services will be held Monday, October 30, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Empire Cemetery in Elizabethtown, IL. The Reverend Ed Lafferty to officiate. Arrangements are under the care of Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville, IL. Courtney Gayle Spivey, 43, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 21st at Hardin County General Hospital in the presence of family and friends. Courtney was born on August 27th, 1980, to Bertis and Becky Cook. She graduated from Hardin County High School with the Class of 1998. Courtney was a Nurse Practitioner at Hardin County General Hospital. Courtney was a long time member of Elizabethtown First General Baptist Church. She was blessed with her son, Parker in April of 2000. She married Rodney on May 23rd, 2009. Courtney loved to sing, spend time with family and friends, love on her fur babies, go to the Smoky Mountains, and spread joy wherever she went. Her life's work was taking care of others in her different roles in the medical field and also when it came to her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Rodney, her son, Parker, her parents, Bertis and Becky Cook, mother in law, Beverly Spivery, brother Andrew (Michelle) Cook, and her two fur babies, Sophie and Jax. She also leaves behind aunts, uncles, cousins, and many extended family members. For everyone who knew and loved Courtney, we all can say that it was a life well lived. A celebration of life will be held on October 27th. Arrangements are under the care of Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a. m. to 1:00 p. m. Harvey William Swallows, 87, of Crestwood, KY, formerly of Golconda, IL passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023. He was born to the late Edward and Mary Swallows on June 18, 1936 in Logan County, KY. Harvey loved hunting, fishing and especially enjoyed gardening. Giving his home grown tomatoes, green onions, potatoes and green beans to his family, friends and neighbors brought him much joy. Harvey considered his greatest accomplishment to be his three girls. He is preceded in death by his wife of 20 years; Ruby J. Swallows, and siblings; Edward "Junior" Swallows, Bobby Swallows, James Brent Swallows (infant), Joyce Farris, Clara Ellen Swallows, and Patricia Colglazier. Left to cherish the memory of Harvey are his daughters; Julie Petroski (Scott), Dana Valdez (Chris), and RaDonna Reid (Sammy Davis), grandchildren; Anna Jimenez (Judah), Clayton Petroski (Chynna), Leah Seward (Kevin Griffin), Jackson Petroski (Kasey), Jacob Reid, Abbey Reid, and Ethan Seward, great-grandchildren; Isaac, Eli, and Naomi Jimenez, Elayna, Selena, Oakley, and Nadia Ruby Petroski, Kinsley Reid, and Tinley Griffin, sisters; Rena Striegel (Bob) and Arlene Bottorff, and extended family and friends. Harvey's family would like to acknowledge and express their appreciation for the love and care provided by Joe and Rene Owens and their family during the many years he lived in Golconda. Visitation will be from 12 to 5 pm on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home, 706 W Jefferson St, LaGrange, KY with a memorial service at 5 pm.
