"Marlene Singletary, 75, of Summerville, SC died, November 30th, 2023, at her home. Marlene was born in Greenville, SC, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Willie Singletary. She married the love of her life, Willard Singletary, and they spent 32 years together. Marlene was an avid housekeeper, enjoying everything from mowing grass, to even taking out the trash. She also enjoyed reading books, doing her daily devotionals, and shopping for gifts online. She loved spending time with her family, always choosing that over any other activity. Marlene was loyal to her career, spending 44 years working for Bank of America. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband. Surviving are her siblings, Sheree Dykes (Corky), Avonda Sweely (Carl), David Tumblin (Joan), Floyd Roberts (Von); as well as numerous beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. A Gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, December 5th, 2023 from 12:30 to 2 o'clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home 303 South Main Street Summerville, SC 29483. A Graveside service will begin at 2:30PM, at Carolina Memorial Gardens, following the gathering. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. He was a member of the Old Fort Masonic Lodge. John was a proud employee of Mead Westvaco, spending 43 years employed there. He was known for his outgoing personality and sense of humor, he was loved by everyone. "Arline Gertrude Ouzts, 97, widow of Jack E. Ouzts, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2023 at The Blake at Carnes Crossroads in Summerville, South Carolina. Born Queens, NY, she was a daughter of the late Charles Krizek and Theresa Wepner Krizek. She was a manager for the department store, Gimbels in Pennsylvania and was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina. Arline was an accomplished cook, gardener, and talented artist, who created many beautiful ceramic figurines over the years. She also enjoyed reading and playing cards and was active in her local senior centers. Mainly, however, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother (GiGi), who brought much joy to her family. She is survived by her children, Carlton Ouzts (Anne) and Jacqueline Shogan (Mark Faurie); daughter-in-law, Linda Ouzts; grandchildren, Alyson Knill (Van), Derrick Ouzts (Andrea), Jeffrey Shogan, and Jack Shogan; stepchildren grandchildren, David Williams (Cindy) and Keith Williams (Spring); great grandchildren, Briella Ouzts, Brantley Ouzts, Garrett Knill, and Cole Knill; and step grandchildren, Skyla Williams and Paisley Williams. In addition to her parents, Theresa and Charles and husband, Jack she was preceded in death by a son, Dwight Ouzts. Services will be held at 11:00 a. m. on Wednesday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Ouzts officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Dianne Moore May age 75 of Summerville SC, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023. Formerly of Smyrna, GA Dianne was born on October 24, 1948 in Atlanta, GA was a daughter of the late James Ira and Martha Rebecca Moore (Walraven). Dianne was a graduate of Campbell High School Class of 1966. She attended UGA and graduated from Kennesaw State with a Bachelors in Accounting. Dianne worked for the Internal Revenue Service, retiring with 30 years of service. She was a lifelong member of Smyrna First Baptist Church. Her primary joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dianne is survived by two sisters Janet Teague (Jeff), and Kathy Moore, one brother Wayne Moore (Melanie). Son Roger May (Amy), daughter Amy Simmons (Jerry). Grandchildren James Simmons, Rebecca Jenkins (Jake), Jacob Simmons all of Summerville, Haley May and Eli May of Dallas, GA. Great Grandchildren James Porter and Vivian Delilah as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 25 from 11 AM to the hour of the service. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Patrick H. Still and Jack S. Still.
