Jane R. Williams, 77, of High Falls, NY, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at HealthAlliance Hospital in Kingston, NY. She was born on August 28, 1946 in Jamaica, Queens, NY, daughter of the late Raymond and Miriam (Koch) Meehan. In addition to her parents, Jane is preceded in death by her loving husband of over 40 years Franklyn Williams, her sister Virginia Gratis and her brother in law Edward Gratis. Jane is survived by her son, Franklyn C. Williams, Jr. of High Falls, her brother in law, Donald Williams and his wife Nancy of High Falls, her nieces and nephews, David Williams of Kingston, Melissa Campbell and her husband Matt of High Falls, EJ Gratis and his wife Tina of Kerhonkson, Megan Owens and her husband David of Kentucky, and her great nieces and nephews, Fayline, Brianna, Courtney, Jason, Jordan, Matthew, Nickalos, Kaitlynn, Jamie, and Skylar Jane. She also leaves behind her beloved dogs and cockatiel. Jane worked for Rondout Valley Central School District for over 35 years. Jane was an active member of the Community Church of High Falls where she was known for cooking during church events, volunteering at church functions including Christmas bazaars and teaching Sunday School. She loved crocheting, sewing, yard sales, camping (especially Candy Hill Campground in Winchester, VA), camp fires, Disney cruises, Red Hots, and Spice Drops. She often left her friends and family voicemails which made them laugh. Lois Brewer Purvis, 87, of High Falls, died Sunday, June 4, 2023 at her residence. Funeral Services, 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Robbins. Officiating, Rev. Vic Hill, Rev. Sam Grist. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Lois Jean was a native and lifelong resident of Moore County and a graduate of High Falls School. She helped establish Mid-State Furniture in the early 1960's, which became a fixture of the High Falls community. In 1987 she single handedly opened her own furniture store in Carthage, as Mid-State Furniture of Carthage. Lois Jean worked tirelessly six days a week until her health required her to rest on Saturdays. She continued to work until her death. She loved her customers and many became lifelong friends throughout the years. Lois Jean was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill UMC for seven decades, having served in numerous committee positions. She was most proud of the annual chicken stew dinners. Lois Jean was an avid Duke fan, even though her two oldest grandchildren were graduates of the "other" blue university. Affectionately known as "Nana" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she took great joy in spoiling them with lavish clubhouses and her famous BBQ chicken and biscuits. She loved a warm fire, spending time with family and friends as well as helping others in need. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Elsie Barker Brewer; son, Michael G. Purvis; brothers, Pete Brewer, Marvin Brewer, and Raymond Brewer; sisters, Ada Mae Hicks and Phyllis Ritter. Survivors: daughter, Jackie P. Craven and husband, Bill of Ramseur, son, Kevin B. Purvis and wife, Terri of Bear Creek, daughter-in-law, Merle Purvis of Shallote; sisters, Virginia Seawell of Carthage, Pauline Garner of Lexington and sister-in-law, Joy Brewer of Bennett , grandchildren, Meredith Duell, Josh Purvis, Rachel Stanley, Brad Craven, Michelle Kirchenbaum, Megan Purvis, Graham Purvis, twelve great-grandchildren, special niece, Anne Dunlap and numerous nieces and nephews. Alan Dale "Charlie" Sessoms, 65, of High Falls, died Friday, September 23, 2022 at his residence. A celebration of his homegoing will be 3:00 PM, Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at Beulah Baptist Church, Bennett. This would have been his 66th birthday. Officiating, Dr. Neal Jackson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Alan was a native of New Hanover County and a longtime resident of Moore County. He was a 1995 graduate of Gardner Webb College with Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. Alan started his law enforcement career at Candor Police Department. He retired as Captain with the Robbins Police Department and had served 30 years in law enforcement with the Town of Robbins. Alan was a volunteer fire fighter on High Falls Fire Department and taught BLET at Moore, Montgomery & Randolph Community College. He lived a life of service. Alan served others at the church as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, security team leader and in numerous other ways. He was also a licensed foster parent and enjoyed providing respite care. Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dorothy Tillman Sessoms, sisters, Patricia Sessoms and Dorothy Craven. Survivors: wife, Rhonda Hussey Sessoms, of the home, daughter, Morgan Gordon and husband, Jeremy, of Erect, son, Ethan Sessoms, of the home, sister, Barbara Seawell, of Carthage, brothers, Robert Sessoms and wife, Connie, of Ramseur, Ricky Sessoms and wife, Shelia, of Coleridge, James Sessoms and wife, Rhonda, of Haw River, brother-in-law, Henry Craven, of High Falls. Barbara Becker, 86, of High Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Health Alliance Hospital - Broadway Campus in Kingston, NY. She was born on September 7, 1935, in Freeport, NY and was the daughter of the late Albert and Virginia Hendrickson of Merrick, NY. Barbara graduated from Wellington C. Mepham High School in Bellmore, NY and was married on May 6, 1956 to Robert John Becker. In 1976, Barbara and her family moved from West Islip on Long Island to her dream home in High Falls, NY. After moving, Barbara took a position at Mohonk Mountain House selling antiques in the Gazebo Shop. She was eventually promoted to the Gift Shop Manager and held the position until she retired. Barbara was passionate about everything in life, but her real passion was collecting antiques and furnishing her Dutch colonial stone house. During her entire life she always loved cats, and continuously had a feline from when she was 5 years old. Her latest surviving cat is Coco, a Tortie Tonkinese. Her family will always remember her baking skills and the best damn chocolate, chocolate chip cake ever made. She is survived by her children, Robert Becker, Richard Becker, Karyn Countryman , Jon Becker and daughter-in-law, Donna Becker. Barbara had 9 Grandchildren, Christina, Alexis, Robbie, Justin, Jared, Lauren, Nicole, Erin and Mandi. She also had many great grandchildren and loving nieces and nephews. ObituaryWilliam Krom, of High Falls, NY passed away peacefully at home on his 69th birthday. William was born in Kingston, NY on May 11, 1951; he was the son of the late Donald R. and Marion (Moyle) Krom. William having been born blind was educated at the Blind School in New York City all the way through High School. Later in life William met Edger Roberts, a master pianist trained at Juilliard School of Music. With his excellent ear, William began learning how to play the piano. At times Edger allowed William to place his hands on top of his to feel how the music flowed while listening to every sound in the chords and melody. After a awhile William was able to listen to a piece of music and simply figure it out Suzuki style. The idea Mr. Suzuki got from the way most people learn to speak - hear the word, then repeat it. Then learn how it is written later on. With many songs both classical and popular William shared his talent playing concerts for Golden Hill Health Care for years. He also worked for Mountain View Manor and the Culinary Place, all in the local area of Ulster County. Even across country in Salt Lake City, Utah William entertained at the Highland Care Center where the people would applause for minutes on end. William always loved to bring memories to his fans that would stimulate the brain as well as uplift the elderly. Margaret E. Yeager of High Falls, NY, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2019 at Kingston Hospital. She was 79 years old. Margaret was born on April 13, 1940 in New Paltz, NY; she was the daughter of the late John and Alida (Relyea) Miller. Margaret was a full time mother and grandmother who brought stability to her family. In her younger years she enjoyed the family camping trips to Maine where she raked for blueberries, ate lobsters, fished and rode snowmobiles. Margaret loved the family get togethers and the country music jamborees. She also enjoyed crocheting and knitting. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Robert Yeager; her siblings, Daniel Miller, Katherine Williams, Florence Bollin, Lucille North, Gertrude Markle, Ruth Felice and Alice Conklin. Surviving are her son Robert Yeager and his wife Diane of Accord; grandchildren, Robert Yeager and Glen Peck; her nephew who she considered her second son Henry Grajewski; her siblings, Anna Mae Miller of Ellenville and Evelyn Terwilliger of Samsonville her grandchildren Jade, Carly, Bella and Joey. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Visiting will be held on Friday, November 8th from 2-4 and 7-9pm at Humiston Funeral Home, 30 42nd St, Kerhonkson. A Celebration of her life is scheduled for 10am on Saturday, November 9th at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pine Bush Cemetery.
