Jane A. Rice, 81, life-long resident of Bryan, Ohio, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Park View Care Center, Edgerton, Ohio. Jane was born May 15, 1942, in Bryan, the daughter of the late Randolph P. and Florence A. (Ames) Winegardner. She was a 1960 graduate of Bryan High School, and a 1963 graduate of the International Business College - Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she obtained her associate degree in secretarial science. Jane married Donald E. Rice on August 17, 1963, in Bryan, and he preceded her in death on March 29, 2016. Jane worked for Bryan City Schools, where she held several positions over her 20 years of employment. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Church Council and regularly volunteered with funeral dinners. In her free time, Jane enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing. Above all, Jane loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Jane's joyous laughter and kind spirit will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Jane is survived by her son, Steven (Beth) Rice of Sharon, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Jessica (Jordan) Pezen, Jacob (Kayla) Rice, Sydney Rice, Katelyn Rice, Kennedi Rice; two great-grandchildren, Clara Pezen and Colter Pezen. Jane was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Donald; two sons, Gregory Rice, and Kevin Rice; and a brother, Gary Winegardner. Visitation for Jane A. Rice will be held Thursday, September 14, 2023, from 10:00 a. m. - 12:00 p. m. at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan. Funeral services will immediately follow in the funeral home on Thursday beginning at 12:00 p. m. with Deacon Jeanie Wise officiating. Interment will follow in Shiffler Cemetery, Bryan. Doris Inez Pedroza-Winn Cleland, 93, of Hicksville, Ohio passed away Monday, September 4, 2023, at Dream Haven Care Center, Edgerton, Ohio. Doris was born March 24, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois, daughter of the late Artura and Ellen Pedroza Winn. She was a 1948 graduate of Hicksville High School. Doris married William A. Cleland Sr. , on February 18, 1951, in Hicksville, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on October 25, 2014. Doris was a long-time member of St. John Lutheran Church where she was a member of the church choir and Lutheran Church Women. Later in life, Doris was a member of the Hicksville First Church of Christ. Doris served as a Farm Bureau Chairperson and on the Defiance County Council Committee. She was active in the Senior Saints Ministry at Grabill Missionary Church and Ladies Aide. Doris was also a member of the card club. She was a AAA travel guide for Evelyn's Excursions for 19 years. Doris and Bill loved to travel; they visited 29 Countries and 9 Providences in Canada, as well as all 50 states. Doris enjoyed oil painting, and completing puzzles, but her biggest joy in life was her family. Surviving is her son, Phillip Cleland of Hicksville, Ohio; three grandchildren, Sean Cleland, Carrie (David) Bussing, and Christopher (Ronae) Cleland; seven great-grandchildren; half-sister, Daryl Colson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Williams Sr. ; two sons, William Cleland, Jr. and David Cleland; Daughter-in-law, Loretta Cleland; two half-brothers, Grant Gentry and Dallas Winn. Susan M. Clifton, 84, of West Unity, Ohio passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Parkview Nursing Home in Edgerton, Ohio. She was born on April 27, 1939 in Bryan, Ohio to Neal and Martha (Murray) Cooper. Susan graduated from Bryan High School in 1957. On June 19, 1958 she married Donald LeRoy Clifton, and he preceded her in death on July 1, 2003. Susan was a 60 year plus member of the Eastern Star. She was involved in various charitable missions during that time. She was an avid Bingo player and loved camping with her husband. She also liked to read. She is survived by her sons, "Lee" Donald LeRoy Clifton II of Pembine, Wisconsin, James Neal Clifton of West Unity and Jeff Alan Clifton of Edgerton; grandchildren Kelly James, Corey Clifton, Amber Shank, Leah Clifton, Desiree Eveland, Haley Clifton and Kayley Tipton; 14 great grandchildren; and sisters Betsy Hanna and Eileen Savage of Sherwood, Ohio. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, grandchild Nicholas Clifton, and sisters Mary Echler and Jackie Cooper. Joyce E. Albertson, 81, of Edgerton, OH passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. She was born on July 27, 1940 to the late William and Corinne (Ziehm) Cordy in Toledo, OH. Joyce married the late Billy Wayne Albertson in 1956 at Free Bible Tabernacle Church in Butler, IN. He preceded her in death in 1995. She attended Paulding High School and worked for Beam Stream for over 30 years before retiring. Joyce was a member of Free Bible Tabernacle Church for 66 years. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed sewing. Joyce is survived by her daughters, Joanna (Neil) Bonecutter of Edgerton, OH, Sarah (David) Clark of Hicksville, OH, Mary (Tim) Allgire of Montpelier, OH, and Martha (Kim) Elson of Hamilton, IN; 16 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Jeri Snyder of Knoxville, TN. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her infant children, Mark and Esther Albertson; children, Charles "Chuck" Albertson and Sandra Smith; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and siblings, William Cordy, Margaret Marsh, Charlotte Vickers and Norine Baldwin. Crystal S. Colon, age 51, of Edgerton, Ohio passed away September 30, 2021, at her home. Crystal was an Area Financial Manager for AGG-Tower Automotive. Crystal was born on December 10, 1969, in Springfield, Ohio to Myron Feather and Sandra Madewell. She graduated from Marietta College with a bachelor's degree in finance. On November 25, 2011, Crystal married Thomas Colon, and he survives. Crystal was always willing to help people. She loved her family, music, cooking, and wine. She also enjoyed trivia, crafting, and camping. Crystal is survived by her husband, Thomas; stepdaughter, Cassidy Colon of Napoleon; mother, Sandra Madewell of Springfield; father, Myron (Clarissa) Feather of Urbana; sisters, Christina Black of Springfield, Amber (Todd) Loxley of Urbana, and Betsy (Dwayne) Trimble of Urbana; many nieces and nephews; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Rita Colon. Visitation for Crystal will take place on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon from 5pm-8pm. Edwin Laverne St. John, 91 of Pioneer passed away Sunday, July 4, 2021 at Parkview Nursing Home in Edgerton, Ohio. He was born on November 28, 1929 in Bryan, Ohio to Samuel and Nellie (Clapper) St. John. On June 23, 1951 he married Clara Tate and she preceded him in death on April 4, 1995. On August 16, 1997 Edwin married Mattie Miller and she survives. He was a 1947 graduate of Bryan High School and went on to further his education at the Palmer Chiropractic School in Davenport, Iowa from 1970-1974. Edwin owned his own Chiropractic practice in West Unity, Ohio for 42 years until his retirement in 2016. He was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Dunkard Brethren Church in West Unity. For many years Edwin was involved in mission work in Haiti through International Fellowship Haven. He is survived by his wife Mattie; five children, Beverly St. John of Hart, Michigan, Tom and Susie St. John of Alvordton, David and Becky St. John of Pioneer, Carol and Lloyd Lorenz of Peru, Indiana, and Janet and Louis Hunkapiller of Alvordton; three stepchildren, Anna and Gary Miller of Goshen, Indiana, Joe Miller of Shipshewana, Indiana and Jay Miller of Indianapolis, Indiana; 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, eight step grandchildren and 11 step great grandchildren. Visitation hours for Edwin will be on Thursday, July 8, 2021 from 2-8 pm at the Pleasant Ridge Dunkard Brethren Church in West Unity. Dwight E. Gilbert, Sr., 81 years, of Edgerton, Ohio, passed away Monday, December 21, 2020, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Dwight was born April 27, 1939, in Mechanicsburg, Ohio, the son of the late Amos "Leo" and Ada Roxanne (Davis) Gilbert. Dwight served in the Ohio National Guard. Dwight was a custodian and bus driver for Edgerton Local Schools. He previously worked as a block mason. He was a member of New Life Worship Center, Bryan, Ohio. Dwight enjoyed fishing and woodworking. Surviving is his wife, Patricia of Edgerton; five children, Janet Righter of Sidney, Ohio, Karen (Victor) Mertz of Sidney, Ohio, Kathy (John) Simmons of Bryan, Ohio, Dwight (Suzie) Gilbert, Jr. of Bryan, Ohio, and Steve Gilbert of Bryan, Ohio; six grandchildren, Beth (Mark) Sammons, Ashley Gilbert, Mindy Gilbert, Auston Simmons, Jamee Gilbert and Bradley Gilbert; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Fred Gilbert of Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Josephine Alire. To honor Dwight's wishes, there will be no public visitation or services.
