Graves September 8, 1943 - November 29, 2023 Charles L. Graves, 80, beloved husband of Glinda Graves, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. Born in Greenville, SC, he was a son of the late William and Minnie Wyatt Graves. He is survived by his wife, Glinda, and Pierce Ritchey, of the home; and his brother, William H. Graves (Jerri). Mr. Graves honorably served in the U. S. Air Force and then pursued a career in law enforcement, joining the Greenville County Police Department. Charles served his community as a law enforcement officer for an impressive 30 years, ensuring the safety and well being of the community. Known for his infectious sense of humor, Charles had a knack for brightening even the darkest days. His playful nature made him a constant source of joy for his family and friends. Charles loved playing pranks and had a mischievous twinkle in his eye. His ability to find humor in any situation was truly remarkable and earned him the reputation of being the life of the party. Beyond his dedication to his work and his playful spirit, Charles had a love for staying active. He was an avid tennis player and enjoyed the thrill of waterskiing. In his free time, Charles could often be found tinkering with tools, as he had a natural flair for fixing things and being handy. Charles had a lovable personality that endeared him to everyone he met. His warmth, kindness, and genuine care for others created lasting bonds. Whether you knew him as a colleague, a neighbor, or a friend, Charles' presence was always cherished. He leaves behind a remarkable legacy of service, laughter, and love. He is also survived by his daughters, Sheila Graves Carlton, Kimberly J. Graves, and Lisa Brown; his cherished grandchildren, Alexis Howes (Jason), Erin Valencia (Johnny), Dillon Porter, and Taylor Carlton (Adi); and his great-grandchildren, Maddox, Sophia, Enzo, Mila, Khari, Nikola, and Peyton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by granddaughter, Tamatha Gardner; and great-granddaughter, Kaylee Carlton. A cryptside service will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at 3:00 p. m. at Greenville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family would like to extend their gratitude for Interim Hospice for their love and care of Charles. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 W.
