Jan King Obituary

Jan Maria King, 82, passed away peacefully in hospice care, . Born in Chicago, December 25, 1940, she grew up in Hyde Park and Jamaica. Attending the University of Chicago Lab School, Priory (Jamaica), Hyde Park High School and finally Roosevelt University. She lived and worked in the Medical Accreditation field as an Administrator until 2001; retiring in Chicago. Her mother, Eleanor D. Cyrus; father, Bindley C. Cyrus; brothers, William, Charles, Edward, Bindley, James and Grant predecease her. She is survived by her sister, Elena, brother, Raymond; daughter, Jandra, son, Andre' and two grandsons, Xavier, and Pascal. Jan loved music, literature, art and being the host of a party for almost any reason. She will be missed by the many family members and friends that were in her orbit. A memorial service will be held at Unity Funeral Parlors, Inc. , 4114 S. Michigan Ave. , Chicago, IL, Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 10:00am.
