Sarah Elizabeth Steward Shuman went to be with Jesus November 27, 2023 at the young age of 62, after a hard battle with end stage COPD. She is at rest and at peace. 11:28Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. We are thankful to know she is resting in the presence of Jesus. Sarah was born February 24th in Texarkana Texas to Cadar and Vivian Steward. She graduated Texas High School in 1979. She worked at Payless Cashway from 1986-2003 and went to the Lumber Yard at Lowe's and worked there from 2004 until she left on disability/retirement in 2020. Her favorite role was that of Nonna. She was blessed with numerous grandchildren but she was very blessed that Destiny Underwood stepped in and took the role of caregiver over the last year. We know she was very grateful for everything she did at such a young age. She was known and loved by many. She was preceded in death by her parents Cadar and Vivian Steward. One brother Eddie Steward. She is survived by her brothers Donnie (Donald) Steward, wife Jean of Texarkana TX, Oliver Steward of Texarkana, TX. Sisters Sue Woods, husband Bill of Baird,TX, Texanna Johnson, husband Charlie of Redwater,TX, and Delta Morriss of Texarkana, TX. Daughters Emily Bomberger Allen, husband Paul of Ft Worth, TX and Laura Underwood of Texarkana,TX. Grandchildren Makayla Shuman, Kiley Allen and Kamauri Allen of Ft Worth, TX. Maegan Starnes, husband Ricky, Destiny Underwood, significant other Deoncha "Scoota" Minniefield, Maddison Underwood, and Travis Underwood JR. of Texarkana, TX. 6 Great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Please Join the family Saturday December 2nd 2023 at FBC Red Springs, 1101 FM 991 Texarkana,TX 75501, for a Celebration of Life memorial. Visitation will be at 1pm with Memorial to begin at 2pm. Charles Edward Banks was born on July 28, 1941, to U. L. "Buddy" and Ruth Ann (Williams) Banks in Springdale, Texas. Charles passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023, at the age of 82. He married Ella Ann (Walker) Banks in 1964. To this union were born two children, Charlotte and Eric Banks. Charles graduated from Thornton High School in Queen City, Texas. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Atlanta, Texas and a lifelong member of the NAACP, as well as a member of the Black Farmer's Association. He retired from Red River Army Depot as a Supervisor after 27 years. He later worked for Atlanta Independent School District as a bus driver. He retired in 2006 as the head mechanic in transportation. Charles was extraordinarily mechanically inclined and often called on to fix things. Charles Banks worked hard, put his family first and was always willing to stand up for what was right. He stressed the importance of ownership, especially land. He often stated, "Land is the only thing they are not making any more of. " His parents and siblings, Franklin "Frank" Banks, Ruby Finley, Geneva Manning, Allen Banks, Diana Ross and U. L. Banks, Jr. preceded him in death. Charles Banks is survived by his wife Ann of 58 years, children, Charlotte Banks, Eric (Rhonda) Banks, two grandchildren, Kameron and Laila; brothers Theodore and Vernal "Vern" Banks, a sister Carol Jean Banks and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Kyle Preston, age 58, of Texarkana, Texas passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023. He was born on November 28, 2023 in Monticello, Arkansas to Carl and Sandy Preston. Mr. Preston spent his working days as a coach and as the Assistant Athletic Director at Texarkana ISD. In his free time, he enjoyed his six grandchildren, going to sporting events with his three boys, and keeping in touch with all his coaching buddies and friends. He was also a faithful member of Church On The Rock. His family describes him as their hero, a Godly man and leader, and the greatest Pop and father, father-in-law, husband, and best friend anyone could have. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend and he will be missed greatly. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Preston, Jr; grandfather, Carl Preston, Sr; and grandmothers, Louise Preston and Lucille Cox. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Mindy Myers Preston; three sons, Logan Kyle Preston and wife Jenna, Lyle Mitchell Preston and wife Katelynn, Ladd Preston; grandchildren, Turner, Jones, Jack, Saylor, Pate, Briggs; two brothers, Curt Preston and wife Andrea, and Darren Preston; five nephews, Cain Preston, Crews Preston, Cale Preston, and Roper Preston; four nieces, Carson Pride, Kennedy Preston, Jordan Uzick, and Taylor Preston; sister and brother-in-law, Misty and Jimbo Roberson; and brother-in-law Mitch Myers. Kim Machele Wilcox Pendley, 66, of Texarkana, Texas, passed away on November 26, 2023. She was born on December 25, 1956, in Washington D. C. at Andrews Air Force Base to Richard Wilcox and Donna Rae Coffey. Kim retired from Defense Logistics Agency after more than 40 years of service. She enjoyed spending her time visiting with her family and friends, sitting around a campfire having a drink, planting flowers, and gardening. She is remembered by her family as having a heart of gold and no filter. She would tell you like it is, but also be the first to give you the shirt off her back. The family holds their peace in knowing that she is finally reunited with her son, Todd, and they will live together forever in Glory. They may be gone, but they will never be forgotten. She is preceded in death by her father and one son, Todd Pendley. Survivors include her daughter, Tawnya Jefferson and husband John of Hooks, TX. ; her mother, Donna Rae Coffey; one sister, Kami McGill and husband Jim of Sheridan, AR. ; three grandchildren, Kaelyn Jefferson, Karlie Pendley, and Kash Pendley; her significant other, Tommy "Nub" Clements, of Red Lick, TX. ; many nieces, nephews, and special friends; her bonus children, Tommy and Taylor Clements, Derrick Clements and Jessica, and Cory Clements and Anna Edwards; six bonus grandchildren, Jayson Clements, Nolan Clements, Carson Clements, Mia Clements, Sterling Clements, and Brackman Clements; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Evelyn Anne Miroir West, 86, departed this life on November 22, 2023, with her four surviving children by her side. Evelyn Anne was born on November 5, 1937, in Texarkana, Texas to Marius Phillip (Pete) Miroir and Evelyn Wood Miroir. After graduating from Texas High School in 1956, she attended Texarkana Community College where she was a member of the Starlets, the school's dance team. She then went on to attend Texas Christian University where she received her Associates Degree. Evelyn Anne was mother to five children and many beloved pets through the years. She enjoyed watching old movies and never tired of learning more about her Catholic faith. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and very active in the Republican party and several related organizations, including the Republican Women's Club. She was a Bowie County precinct chair and served in elections for many years. Evelyn Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Evelyn Miroir, infant-brother, Marius P. Miroir, III, her son, Reverend Father James P. West, and the love of her life, Gary A. West. She is survived by four children, Misti Stewart, Kyle West, Dawn Swartz and husband Richard, and Christopher West; one grandson, Alex Swartz; and cousins, Annette Ulmer and Beverly McDowell. Rosary and visitation will be held from 6:00 p. m. until 8:00 p. m. , Thursday, November 30, at Texarkana Funeral Home on Texas Blvd. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p. m. , Friday, December 1, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Ella "Maureen" Thompson, 81, of Texarkana, TX passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2023 at St. Michaels Hospital surrounded by loved ones. She was born on January 21, 1942 to the late Maurice and Ellen Hague. She attended Lafayette Jefferson High School. On November 28th, 1981 she married her husband Larry Thompson, who survives. When her family was young, she enjoyed being a homemaker. She was also an avid bowler in her younger years where she met many life-long friends. After raising her children, she enjoyed a lengthy career in furniture sales, where she met a lot of people that became friends and family. In addition to bowling, she also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, visiting a casino and playing blackjack, sitting on her patio enjoying her flowers, and spending time with family and friends. She is also survived by her children Carla Shoemaker of Texarkana, TX , Kenneth (Theresa) Shoemaker of Rochester, NY, and Mitzi (Terry) Cavin of New Palestine, IN. She has 6 grandchildren, Alex Shoemaker, Matthew Shoemaker, Brock Shoemaker, Shelby (Jason) Ledman, Patrick O'Brien, and Caitlin (Josh) Burgess, and 4 great-grandchildren. John W. "Bill" Wilson, age 86, of Texarkana, TX, passed away on November 26, 2023, at St. Michael's CHRISTUS Hospital. Born on March 5, 1937, in Texarkana, Texas, Bill was a lifelong resident of the area. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, son, and grandchildren. Bill served in the US Navy for four years, with the last two years as an exemplary senior corpsman of C Company, 1st Battalion of the Marines. After his military service, he worked at the Texarkana Gazette for 12 years and later pursued a career as a life insurance agent for 17 years. He then spent 10 years with TYE Distributing company, making valuable contributions throughout his professional journey. Outside of work, Bill had a passion for the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer. He was a founding member of the Texarkana Bass Club, where he shared his love for fishing with fellow enthusiasts. Bill and his wife, Edna, enjoyed camping and traveling, having explored all 50 states together, creating cherished memories along the way. Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Edna F. Wilson, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage, his son John Wilson, and wife Ashley, as well as six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Walter Wilson and Nora Wilson, his brother James "Jim" Wilson, and niece Lynn Wilson. Graveside Services to honor Bill's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Rev. Matt Stevenson officiating.
