"James Arthur Swanson, 92, of Iron Mountain, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Optalis Health and Rehab Kingsford. TENTATIVE-Visitation will be 9:30 am - 10:30 am on Friday, Sept. 15th at the Erickson-Rochon \u0026amp; Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain followed by a service at 11:00 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. "Mark J. Agnessi, Sr. , 94, of Kingsford passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023, at Evergreen Assisted Living in Kingsford. Mark was born April 25, 1929, in Iron Mountain, MI, son of the late Romeo and Orlanda (Baldrica) Agnessi. He graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1947 and enlisted in the U. S. Coast Guard where he served for three years and was honorably discharged. Mark attended Michigan State University and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Social Work in 1957. He worked for the State of Michigan for 25 years before retiring in 1984. A lifelong resident of the area, Mark was a member of the Elks 700 and St. Mary \u0026amp; St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, and traveling. He will be greatly missed by his 3 daughters, Margaret "Margi" Sanderson of Kingsford, Anne (Tony) Amicangelo of Iron Mountain, and Jean (Robert) Groeneveld of Kingsford; a daughter-in-law, Tischa Agnessi; 9 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his son, Mark Agnessi Jr. ; an infant daughter, Mary Beth Agnessi; a grandson, Miles Groeneveld; 2 brothers, Peter Agnessi and Leo Agnessi; a sister, Anna (Ernest) Mariucci; and his former wife, Marilyn Fayas. "Rose Marie Pedo, 92, of Iron Mountain passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Evergreen Assisted Living in Kingsford. Rose was born August 26, 1931, in Iron Mountain, MI, daughter of the late Augusto and Lucia (Bevilaqua) Priante. She graduated from Iron Mountain High School, Class of 1949, and married Donald Pedo on August 30,1952, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Those who knew Rose will remember her for her beautiful smile, her extraordinary cooking abilities, her quick wit and her unbelievably sharp mind. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband, Don; her daughter, Teresa (John) Fortier of Iron Mountain; her son, Louis Pedo of Big Bend, WI; a son-in-law, Doug Bluekamp of Iron Mountain; 4 grandchildren, Dana (Mike) Cook of Mequon, WI, Jenna (Todd) Buckley of Waterford, WI, Kyle (Jackie) Fortier of Iron Mountain, and Nathan Bluekamp of Iron Mountain; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sue Reath; brother-in-law, Jerry Pedo; and sister-in-law, Rachel Struck, as well as many nieces and nephews. "John Francis "Frenchie" French Jr. , 77, of Kingsford passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023, in the comfort of his own home. He was born in Anderson, IN, on June 4, 1946, son of the late John Sr. and Jenny (Stachowicz) French. John graduated from Dugger High School in 1965. Shortly after graduation he enlisted with the Army National Guard. On May 6, 1978, John was married to the former Debra Supa at St. Mary Catholic Church in Norway. Among other jobs, John most notably worked for Grede foundry for 25 years and Walmart for 10 years. John was a proud "Dad" and "Papa" and was known to approach any random stranger to brag about his family. In his younger years, John enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. More recently he enjoyed trips to the casino and his scratch off tickets. John will be deeply missed by his wife, Debra; 2 daughters, Adrien (Mike) Brzoznowski, of Aurora, and Jacalyn French, of Denver, CO; 4 grandchildren, Gracelyn, Ayda, Mary and Edward; 4 siblings, Mary (Kent) Smith, Paul (Melodie) French, Lauri (Mike) Rogers, Charles (Jill) French; brother-in-law, Darrell Jenkinson; and many other family and friends. "Elizabeth Weber, 97, of Iron Mountain passed away Friday, October 13, 2023, at Evergreen Assisted Living in Kingsford. Elizabeth was born in Trenary, Michigan, on April 22, 1926, the eighth of nine children born to Frank and Mary Mikulich. She graduated from Northern Michigan University with a degree in elementary education and taught for two and a half years in Manistique, Michigan, where she met and married Kenneth Weber on October 29, 1949. Married for 46 years, they traveled the Iron Range and raised six children: Gina, Joan, John, Mark, Matthew and Martin, before finally settling down on a little piece of paradise at Moon Lake. A new chapter in life for Betty (Liz, to some) was her marriage to Marty Waananen in October of 1997. They met after many years at their 50th high school class reunion. They wintered in Palm Springs and Pullman, Washington, where Marty had a career and home, and they eventually settled permanently at Moon Lake. Liz was preceded in death by her son Matthew, and her husbands Ken and Marty. Left to hold dear are her children: Gina (John) Danyluk, Joan Weber, John (Pam) Weber, Mark (Cindy) Weber, and Marty (Carol) Weber; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister. Betty would like to be remembered for her love of children and friends, her smile, her integrity and her perseverance. Mary was born July 31, 1935, in Terre Haute, IN, the daughter of Stanley and Mary Ann (Kehoe) Stasiak. She married John Vykydal at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Detroit in 1959; he preceded her in death in 1993. Mary's working career encompassed over 45 years, working as a Telephone Operator at Michigan Bell, Aid in the Farmington School System, and Teletype Operator at Western Union before retiring from Kmart as an Accounting Clerk. Mary is survived by her daughter, Dianna (John) Jamar of Iron Mountain; 2 grandchildren, Patrick Jamar and Michael Jamar; a special cousin, Viola Reynolds and family; and 5 nieces and nephews, Lisa (Eric) Conrad, Rick (MaryAnn) Vykydal, Brad (April) Dykes, Steve (Deanna) Dykes, and Marsha (Danny) Droz. "Charlotte Ann Emond, 88, of Breitung Township peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, Oct. 13, 2023, at Optalis Health \u0026amp; Rehab in Kingsford. She was born on June 28, 1935, in Iron Mountain, and was the daughter of the late Elmer and Ethel (Anderson) Peterson. Char graduated from Kingsford High School in 1953. On June 11, 1955, she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart and square dance partner, Ronald Emond, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Ronald preceded Char in death on March 26, 2011, after nearly 56 years of marriage. Char wore many different hats for many different companies but she was particularly fond of her time spent as an operator for Michigan Bell Telephone Company, an agent for Stephens Real Estate, and owning and running the Edgewater Resort with Ron. Charlotte was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Char loved to travel, especially out west, camping in one of her many RVs. She also enjoyed long car rides, pontoon boat rides, and \u0026quot;eating out\u0026quot; at restaurants. She was a talented pianist and found serenity in music, art and painting. Char had a passion for entertaining, interior design, and cooking and baking. She especially loved baking her famous chocolate brownies (with a secret ingredient) with her granddaughter Heather. Charlotte will be missed by her daughter, Jill (Todd) Lemke; granddaughters, Heather (Dave) Ten Broeck, of Westminster, MD, Jennifer Bera (Bill Fadden) of Sierra Vista, AZ, and Kirstina Lemke of Niagara, WI; and great-grandchildren, Derrick and Aaron Ten Broeck and Ellie Bera. "Helen Florence Wickman, 99, of Kingsford went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 7, 2023. Helen was born June 1, 1924, in Nashwauk, Minn. , daughter of the late Toivo and Hilda (Rytioja) Hamari. A lifelong resident of Kingsford, she attended Kingsford High School, on October 16, 1944, she married Rueben W. Wickman in Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death on March 26, 1978. Helen attended Maranatha Assembly of God Church in Kingsford. She was a born again Christian from an early age and had a tremendous faith in Jesus Christ as Savior. Immediately after high school Helen began full time employment to help support her ailing father, her mother, and younger siblings. In 1941 she temporarily moved to Detroit, MI, for employment at several workplaces, including Briggs Manufacturing Company as a riveter, assembling military aircraft for the United States WWII war effort. Later, she moved back to Kingsford and married Rueben. While raising a family she became employed at several different local manufacturers, including General Controls, the Sewing Factory in Iron Mountain, and in 1984 she retired from full time employment at Hancock Wood Products to begin various baby-sitting jobs. She enjoyed traveling with her dear sister-in-law, Myrtle Branstrom, and she loved everyone, especially children and family members. Helen is survived by her 3 sons, Rodney (Joan) Wickman of Felch, John (Jodi) Wickman of Breitung Township, and Darryl (Molly) Wickman of Kingsford; a daughter, Corrine (Jim) Thomson of Lena, WI; 9 grandchildren, Jennifer Cescolini, Mary (Rob) Skog, Justin (Kyllie) Wickman, Josh (Courtnee) Wickman, Lindsey Wickman, Jenna (Mfo) Langeni; Teri Jo (Jeff) Talaska, Beau (Lesley) Thomson, and Tara (Eric) Sellen; many great-grandchildren;1 brother Donald Hamari of Kingsford; sister-in-law Garon Hamari of Iron Mountain and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her 2 sisters, Hilka Bartolameolli and Lila Makela; 4 brothers, Reuben Hamari, Allen Hamari, Roy Hamari, and Duane Hamari; 2 grandsons, Keith Wickman and William (Billy) Smith; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Wickman; and a granddaughter, Kelley Thomson. "We are sad to announce the passing of Mary Jane Blazer, age 73. Mary was born in Chippewa Falls, WI, on July 21, 1950, to Eugene Hetke and Caroline Black. She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023, at Freeman Nursing and Rehabilitation in Kingsford, surrounded by family after fighting a long, hard battle with Parkinsons and dementia. Mary was a caring soul who worked in healthcare for most of her life. She worked first as a CNA before returning to nursing school to obtain her degree as a registered nurse while raising four children at home. Throughout her working years she worked in long term care, emergency medicine, as a Medicare nurse, and public health nurse. Mary lived her life with a strong Christian faith and helped to instill that faith in her children. During her free time Mary loved quilting and kayaking. Mary will be missed by her loving husband of 22 years, Gary Blazer; her children, Pamela Goman (friend, JR), Amanda (Troy) Pflugradt, Theodore (Stacy) Goman, and Thomas Goman; grandchildren, Brianna Schuirmann, Cameron (Joy) Goman, Caden and Chase Pflugradt, and Bryce and Baylee Goman; great-grandchildren, Saint and Sephora Young; brothers, Ernie (Agnes) Hetke, and David (Marlene) Hetke; sister, Dianne Markovich; and many other family and friends. "Roger G. Rochon, 82, of Kingsford, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Evergreen Assisted Living in Kingsford. Roger was born Jan. 11, 1941, in St. Pierre, Manitoba, Canada, the son of Rosario and Mathilda (Houde) Rochon. He attended St. Pierre-Jolys High School and then enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force where he served for 8 years. After his discharge from the Air Force Roger had various jobs and attended Red River College and received a diploma in Electrical Technology. Work opportunities brought Roger to the United States and he became a US Citizen on June 19, 1975. Roger worked for Lakeshore Inc. for many years before taking a position with Valmet Corporation where he finished out his career. Roger married Lois (Swanson) Bosley on June 23,1978, at St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kingsford. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Elks Club and St. Mary Queen of Peace Church. Roger enjoyed playing cards, especially smear, and he was an excellent cook. He loved to entertain and was an exceptional host to friends and family alike. Roger was always available to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He is survived by his wife, Lois; 5 children, Ann (Roy) Brown, Mark (Jean) Bosley, Lynn (David) Karban, Mary Bosley and John Bosley; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Bosley; 3 brothers, Norman (Shirley) Rochon, Marcel (Joan) Rochon, and Gerald (Marie-Ange) Rochon; 2 sisters, Anita (Maurice) Cormier and Simone (Gilles) Neveux; 2 brothers-in-law, James Swanson and Arthur Swanson, 3 sisters-in- law, Louise Rochon, Janet Swanson, and Darlene Swanson; and many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
