James Sutherland Obituary

James Andrew Sutherland, 84, of Street, MD, died peacefully on May 6, 2023. He was born in Cripple Creek, VA, to his late parents Lester G. and Lillian L. (Sexton) Sutherland. He was the beloved husband of Mary S. Sutherland until her death on September 2, 2016. James was a generous and loving man, who was funny, intelligent and at times, stubborn. He was a great father and provider for his family. He was a friend to all and loved helping anyone in any way that he could. In his spare time he enjoyed tinkering with woodworking, gardening and just being in the outdoors. He enjoyed dining with friends and family on his favorite foods, seafood, steak and cookies. For entertainment, he enjoyed watching NASCAR and wrestling on the television. James was a man of deep and committed faith. He loved the Lord and was a prayer warrior. He was the Co-Pastor of Delta Chapel in Delta, PA. He also hosted a weekly talk show on WAMD in Havre de Grace, on which he shared the gospel and love of Jesus. Many, many couples were wed by James in and around Harford County. James is survived by his children; Patricia Nogle, Anthony Sadler, James Sutherland, Jr. and Nichole Turowski. He is also survived his three sisters, Shirley Caldwell, Dorcas Corbin and Wilma Payne. His seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren will forever cherish the memories they have. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Harkins Funeral Home, Inc. , 600 Main Street, Delta, PA. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 17, beginning at 11:00 am at the funeral home. His daughter, Patricia Nogle will officiate. Interment will be held immediately following the funeral in Darlington Cemetery, Darlington, MD. Arrangements are under the care of Harkins Funeral Home, Inc. , of Delta, PA.
