James D Samples Jr 70 passed away on November 18, 2022. Born in San Antonio, Texas to James Sr and Altra Faye. He joined the United States Army where he served over 20 yrs. to then retire as a Master Sergeant in 1991. He took great pride in serving his country. He then went on to serve in the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier and served as the Union President for a time. He was referred to by all as Chuck the Mailman, and loved talking to his people on his route. He was a lifetime member of the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) and American Legion Organization. At the end of his work day he would stop in and enjoy a cold beer or two with other members, share conversation, and catch up on things. James ( Chuck) is predeceased by his parents James Sr and Altra Faye, his two brothers Bruce and Larry. He is survived by his best friend and companion Nancy Smith, former wife Mai, who they had two children Gregory and Tanya, two stepchildren Thuy and Lan, 6 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren, 2 sisters Ann and Nancy. James (Chuck) was a good man whose impact will be forever felt by many. He was a simple man like his father, a quiet soul who relished the simple things in life, a cowboy at heart, loved country music, dancing, reading, camping, fishing, friends, and watching the planes in the sky. For sure a native Texan and proud of it. He was a selfless man whose passing left an unfillable gap in the hearts of all that new him. Chuck we were all blessed to be a part of your life. We will hold onto all the wonderful memories we shared with you and let them put a smile on our face. And so the cowboy rides away off on a new journey. Love you [?]
