Jim Ross was surrounded by his family when he passed away Friday morning, October 6, 2023 at his home south of McCook. He was 85 years of age. Memorial services are scheduled for 2PM on Saturday afternoon, October 21, 2023 at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook with Joe Samson, Jr. officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Offutt AFB Honor Guard. A private family inurnment will take place in the Evangelical Cemetery outside Herndon, Kansas at a later date. Zona Inez Fritz was born on December 24, 1947 in Holdrege, Nebraska to Everett D. and Inez V. (Severns) Taylor. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1966 and furthered her education by graduating from the Lincoln General Hospital School of Nursing in 1969. Zona married James A. Von Loh on January 24, 1970 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Oxford, Nebraska and to this marriage Heather Ann, Suzanne Marie, Nicole Aimee, and James Joel were born. On May 26, 1984 she was united in marriage to Ronald W. Fritz at St John's Lutheran Church in Oxford. Ron brought children, Michael Alan and Ann Marie to the family. Zona and Ron would add their final child, Matthew Wayne together. The family settled in their home southwest of McCook and called McCook home for the rest of their lives together. Zona enjoyed a long career as a Registered Nurse; including working at Fritzer Memorial Hospital in Oxford and McCook Community Hospital where she worked from June of 1984 until her retirement on January 9, 2015. Zona was a woman of strong faith. She began her faith journey with her baptism on February 25, 1951. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Culbertson, where she played the organ and was involved with various church groups and activities. Prior to St John, she was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in McCook for many years. She was also a member of the McCook Art Guild and enjoyed drawing and watercolor painting. Zona loved music and played the piano and organ. She was the bell choir director at Peace Lutheran in McCook, where she also played the organ for many years. She enjoyed reading, cooking/baking and spending time with her family. Zona loved seeing her grandchildren and she was very close with her sisters. She also enjoyed getting together to eat chili and watch Husker football. Zona was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Walter Taylor; brother, Herbert Taylor; sister, Avis Johnson and brother-in-law, Lloyd Johnson; sister, Dixie Green and brother-in-law, Lee Green; and daughter, Ann Brown. She is survived by spouse, Ronald Fritz; children: son, Mike (Shelly) Fritz of Tucson, Arizona; son-in-law, Matt Brown of Culbertson; daughter, Heather (Matt) Knea of Plymouth Minnesota; daughter, Suzanne (Matt) Falkinburg of Longmont, Colorado; daughter, Nicole Hollers (Ryan Lloyd) of Omaha, Nebraska; son, James Von Loh of Omaha; and son, Matthew Fritz (Jessica Kuhr) of Platte Center, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Anita Taylor; sister-in-law, Sue Taylor, and sisters, Judy Tadlock, Gloria Egge and Nancy Fry; grandchildren: Trevor Fritz, Zachary Fritz, Katy Fritz, Randy Brown, Angela Brown, Ryan Brown, Julia Knea, Owen Knea, Hayden Falkinburg, Tyler Falkinburg, Cadence Hollers, Colin Hollers, and Camden Hollers; great-grandchildren Riley Brown, Draven Brown, and EJ Alan Fritz; as well as many nieces and nephews. Zona passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska on Saturday, November 11, 2023 surrounded by many of her family. She was 75 years of age. Ruth E. Fagot, 94, of McCook, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook, Nebraska with her loving family by her side. She was born on November 22, 1928, in Milford, Nebraska to Roland and Harriet (Weaver) Miller. Ruth graduated from Milford High School with the class of 1946. She then moved on to complete two years at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. On April 10, 1949, Ruth was united in marriage to Francis Fagot in Milford, Nebraska. Three children were blessed to this union: Kathy, Annette, and Craig. The family made their home north of Lexington where Ruth focused her efforts on caring for the home and raising their children. Ruth had many hobbies including knitting, sewing, creating beautiful art work and reading. She loved getting to spend time at Johnson Lake with her family and friends where she could do some yoga and work on her journaling. Ruth was also a faithful member of many organizations including the Chapter GR P. E. O. , Studio 25, The Lexington Painting Club, ART Club, Bridge and Supper Club. Ruth was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Lexington. Those left to celebrate her life are her children, Kathy (Mike) Hockley of Overland Park, Kansas, Annette (Russ) Eisenhart of Culbertson, Nebraska, Craig Forester (Sarah Darby) of Omaha, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Virgene Forest of Denton, Texas, grandchildren, Chris Hockley (Claire Sheahan), Anne (Ira) Crofford, John (Abbie) Eisenhart, Ben (Bonnie) Eisenhart, Andrea Eisenhart, and Rachel Forester; great-grandchildren, Simon, Josephine, Nell, Nolan, Georgette, Samuel, Beau, and Paige. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Fagot. Services will be held at a later date. Memorials are kindly suggested to the Lexington Public Library or to the Lexington Community Foundation. MICHAEL EUGENE STASTKA 1950 - 2023 Michael Eugene Stastka age 73 of McCook, NE passed away peacefully on Friday, November 3, 2023 in Orlando, FL. He was born on April 22, 1950 to Edward "Gene" Eugene and Patricia Ann (O'Brien) Stastka in McCook, NE. Michael was raised and schooled in St. John's Catholic in Plattsmouth, NE and graduated from Plattsmouth High School with the class of 1968. After graduating from high school, he attended Southeast Community College in Milford, NE and graduated in 1971 with an Associates Degree in Drafting. Between 1973-1979 Michael coordinated entertainment for large fairgrounds throughout the Midwest and settled in Florida in 1980 where he worked at Blue and White Bus Company until 1990. Between 1990 and early 2000's he worked as Operations Manager of Apple Vacations/Atkinson & Mullen and later worked as a Logistics Manager for ComCar Trucking Company. For the last 17 years, he was a Member of The National Association of Realtors, Orlando Regional Association of Realtors and The Florida & Osceola County Realtors Association. He was a member of the Edgewater Moose Lodge #2345 and Kissimmee Elks Lodge #1873. He was also a longtime member of the Orlando Citrus Club. Michael was an avid RVer and belonged to the Florida Motorcoach Association (FMCA) for many years, the Newmar Kountry Klub-SeaTurtles Ralleys and GoodSam's. He was also a Car Enthusiast and for the last 15+ years has enjoyed traveling abroad alongside his beloved Angie via Flights, Motorhomes and Riverboats. Michael is survived by his Partner in Life Angie Diaz of Kissimmee, FL; two stepsons: Carlos Bermudez III and wife Staci of Winter Springs, FL; Alexis Bermudez of Kissimmee, FL; Step Grandson: Carlos Bermudez IV of Winter Springs, FL; Sister & Brother-In-Law Terry and Mike McDonald of Kissimmee, FL; two step nephews: Taylor McDonald of Atlanta, GA; Kyle McDonald of Houston, TX; Two brothers: Mark Stastka and wife Rhonda of York, NE; Ronald Stastka and wife Diane of Fremont, CA; two nieces: Tina Janes and husband Brook of Roca, NE; Claire Stastka of Fremont, CA; nephew: Andrew Stastka and wife Tiffany of Lincoln, NE; five great nieces: Addison Stastka, Phoenix Stastka, Teegan Bryson, Jailyn Ritchie, Brooklyn Janes; great grandniece: Sterling Harper; and many loving friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Gene and Patricia Stastka; brother: Stephen Lynn Stastka. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 6, 2023, from 4:00 P. M. to 7:00 P. M. at Conrad & Thompson Funeral Home. A Prayer service will be celebrated during the visitation at 6:00 P. M. Michael will be cremated and return to Plattsmouth, NE for his final resting place.
