Age - 71
December 2, 2023
Andrew Leroy Skaggs, known to most as Leroy, passed away at his home on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at the age of 71 years. He was born on April 21, 1952 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Joseph and Geraldine (nee Bonzo) Skaggs. After graduating Ritenour Senior High School in 1971, he married the love of his life, Connie Faye Jackman, on July 22, 1972 at the Horine Baptist Church in Jefferson County, Missouri. In his early years, Leroy honorably served our country in the Navy. He spent most of his working years as a maintenance man at apartment complexes owned by Goralnik Realty. Through the years, he became very handy man, able to fix most anything. He was always willing to lend a hand and his knowledge to family and friends in need. Even as his health failed, he was able to talk people through the process of fixing things. He also always had a love for 1957 Chevy's and became a collector. He really enjoyed going out to eat and being with his family. He was a very hard working, compassionate, "gentle giant" with a great sense of humor and disposition. He will be truly missed by all that knew and loved him. Leroy is survived by his wife of 51 years, Connie Skaggs; one daughter, Andrea Stubblefield; his favorite former son-in-law, Mike Stubblefield; two grandchildren, Dakota Skaggs and his wife, Amanda, and Jacob Stubblefield; three great-grandchildren, Alexander, Leonidas, and Gwenivere; six siblings, Mary Ellen Blankenship, Joseph Thomas Skaggs, Bill Gerdes and his wife, Jeanie, Gloria Calvin, Joann Copeland and her husband, Bob, and Sherry Johnson; many nieces, nephews, cousins, their families, and many friends. Leroy was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Skaggs; mother, Geraldine Skaggs; step-mother, Joyce Skaggs; young daughter, Cassandra; four siblings, Linda Hirschel, Jerry Skaggs, Eugene Skaggs, and Mike Gerdes; and brother-in-law, Mike Johnson.
