James Pryor Obituary

ADRIAN - James Rooklyn Pryor, age 88, of Adrian, died unexpectedly Saturday evening, May 6, 2023, at his home. Born September 12, 1934, in Hagerstown, Maryland, he was the son of the late Frederick Pryor and Treva (Miller) Pryor Chandler. He married the love of his life, Judith Lynne Thompson, on June 7, 1958, at the First Baptist Church in Adrian. Jim honorably served his country as a member of the United States Navy from 1951 - 1955 during the Korean Conflict. He worked for a telephone company, earning the title of district manager, and formally retired in 1987. He was a life member of the Moose Lodge in Adrian as well as an active member of the Adrian American Legion. His favorite pastime was spending time outdoors on the golf course. Surviving to mourn his loss are his wife of nearly 65 years, Judy; three siblings, Tom (Kathy) Pryor of Adrian; Carol Pryor-Miner of Wyoming, MI, and John (Sue) Chandler of Headland, AL; sister-in-law, Carole Pryor of CA; well as many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Ronald, and Norman "Jake" Pryor; a brother-in-law, Jim Miner; sister-in-law, Marguerite Pryor; and a beloved feline companion, Pusser. Cremation will take place and no public services are planned at this time.
