James E. "Jimmy" Powell, 87, Ebenezer-Ovil Road, Hopkinsville, KY passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at TriStar Skyline Medical Center, Nashville, TN of natural causes. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a. m. Friday, June 24, 2022 at Lamb Funeral Home with Rev. Jeremy Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. Thursday, June 23, 2022 at the funeral home. A native of Christian County, KY, he was born September 5, 1934, the son of the late Rufus Hazel Powell and the late Ruby (Burchett) Powell. Jimmy served in the United States Army and the National Guard. He was a farmer and a member of New Ebenezer Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Powell. Survivors include his son, Douglas Garner (Ohana) Powell, Hopkinsville, KY; his brothers, Elmer Powell and Charles Powell, both of Hopkinsville, KY; his sister, Charlene Bunch, Hopkinsville, KY; his grandchildren, Tori Bennett and Devin Powell; and his great-grandchild, Kyden Powell.
