Margaret Ann (Peterson) Zajac passed away peacefully at her home on November 25, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
The daughter of the late Jean and Robert Peterson, Margaret was born in Manistee, MI, on November 9, 1956. She graduated from Manistee High School in 1975 before continuing her education at West Shore Community College, where she graduated with a nursing degree in 1988. For 35 years, Margaret worked in the healthcare field as a registered nurse, caring for residents at the Heights Medical Care, Tendercare of Ludington, as a homecare nurse, and at the Maples of Frankfort.
A devoted wife and loving mother, Margaret loved spending time at Lake Michigan, especially hunting for beach glass. She enjoyed sunflowers, Snoopy and the "Peanuts" gang, and rock and roll. Margaret always looked forward to monthly dinner dates and annual trips with her closest friends. More than anything, Margaret loved spending time with her family; camping, playing cards or board games, doing puzzles, and traveling.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Zajac, and her children Jennifer (Norm) Johnson, Phillip (Artisha) Fortin, Paige (Tyler) Stec, and Randee (Jake Walsh) Zajac. Margaret also has 8 surviving grandchildren: Alexis and Madison Johnson, Jaidin, Mason, Logan and London Fortin, and Alivia and Ryles Stec. Margaret's surviving siblings include Karen Bengston, Julie (Dean) Martz, Richard (Mary) Peterson, Daniel (Deb) Peterson; her sister-in-law, Judy Peterson; her mother-in-law, Shirley Zajac; and many nieces and nephews.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Jean and Robert Peterson, brother, Jack Peterson, and her father-in-law, Cook Zajac.
