Fannie Mae Lienhart went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 7, 2023. She was born on April 5, 1930 to William Harrison Adams and Bessie Watson Adams in Blandville, Kentucky. Fannie lived at Waverly Heights in Benton, AR for 13 years. She was a longtime resident of Lonoke prior to that time. She was an avid traveler and always up for an adventure. She was a proud member of Trinity Baptist Church and loved her church family. Fannie was preceded in death by her infant son, Richard Alan Matlock; her parents; husband, Victor Lienhart; sisters, Charlene Wooley and Joyce Carpenter. She is survived by her son, Ron Matlock (Debbie) of Benton; daughter, Rita Matlock of Lonoke; sister, Burnetta Hinterthuer (Steve Holst) of Fayetteville; she was "Granny" to granddaughters, Tracy Skillern (Kevin); Stacy Hooper (Jason) of Lonoke; Aimee Hemmer (Michael Joe) of Dover; Robin Larsen (Ryan) of Benton; granddaughters, Ariel, Madison, Allie, Jake, Mallory, Payton, Kaity, Luke, Laci, Cahill, Nik, and Lukas; and several nieces and nephews. Marquis Alexander Foreman, Jr. , was born in Camden, Arkansas, on August 18, 1987. He was the eldest son of Tamara Jolly and Marquis Foreman, Sr. Marquis, was the proud big brother of his twin siblings, Brianna, and Bryson. Marquis, known as "Marc," grew up in a family filled with an abundance of love. As a child, Marc was a member of Victory Temple Church of God in Christ in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. He was a member of the Sunshine Band and VT Youth Choir, where he often was the lead singer. Marc grew up with a passion for music, dancing, and poetry. He was a 2005 graduate of Arkadelphia High School, where he excelled academically. He was also a member of the football team. After graduation, he attended Henderson State University, where he majored in Business Administration. He later relocated to Houston, Texas, where he used his business administration skills and obtained a management position. He later moved back to Hot Springs, Arkansas, where he held several positions in management. Marc took extraordinary pride in his appearance and was well-groomed. He enjoyed going to the gym, writing poetry, and listening to music in his leisure time. It was common for Marc to brag about Iyanna. He was so proud of how hard she worked on her dancing and baking business. One of his favorite pastimes was playing video games with his son, Jayden, and brother, Bryson. He also cherished taking Kingston to Taekwondo and helping him perfect his moves. He often said that his greatest accomplishments in life were his children. Marc was the proud father of three children. He met the love of his life, Mackenzi Davis, on April 19, 2022. They quickly grew a friendship that turned into love and were united in marriage on April 18, 2023, surrounded by friends and family. They enjoyed being geeks and weird together. He was the love of her life to the end. He was looking forward to those 50 years together. Marc loved hard and with his whole heart. His smile had the power to light rooms and melt hearts. Marquis passed away from his earthly home on December 4, 2023, in Little Rock, Arkansas. His grandparents, Henry and Samella Murphy, and uncles, Kendall Murphy, and Bernard Bailey, preceded him in death. Robert Patrick "Scooter" Shelton, age 71, died during his afternoon nap on December 5, 2023 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born December 14, 1951, in El Dorado, Arkansas, the youngest of four children born to Helen and Pat Shelton. Scooter attended Holy Redeemer Catholic School then Rogers Junior high and graduated El Dorado High School class of 1970. He studied accounting at South Arkansas University before going to work offshore as a cook on an oil exploration ship in the Gulf of Mexico. Scooter then worked in pool construction and maintenance for James Mason in El Dorado. After moving to Little Rock in the mid 1980s, he worked for Purolator Company and later for United Healthcare delivering infusions. In 1990, Scooter became very depressed and was eventually accepted by Birch Tree Communities for over 20 years. Most recently he lived at Good Shepherd Community and then assisted living at the Heights at Parkway Village. Scooter was an avid sports fan and a huge supporter of the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Dallas Cowboys. He was the best "color commentator" and statistician ever. Scooter always enjoyed attending the Little Rock Touchdown club meetings. A lifelong Catholic, Scooter served as an altar boy at Holy Redeemer and shared many stories of Father Louis Janesko. He attended Mass at Christ the King and Our Lady of Good Counsel in Little Rock and always prayed the Rosary. Scooter was predeceased by his parents and his brother Stanley "Bud" Shelton. Surviving him are sisters Patricia Miles of Little Rock and his brother-in-law Jim who saw to Scooter’s every need, and Catherine Ward of Conway, South Carolina, his beloved niece, Barbara Miles (Hank Bates) and Kristen Anders; nephews Steve Miles, Deron Anders and Allan James. We all remember Scooter as the life of the party who loved his family and friends, many of whom stayed in close touch with him and visited him. His and their adventures are unparalleled. Our family is especially grateful to Dr Jasmine Prime and staff of Baptist PACE and also the staff of Parkway Heights assisted living who provided him such supportive care. Scooter chose to be cremated and his ashes will be buried in our family plot in El Dorado with Catholic graveside services followed by a celebration of his life at a future date in El Dorado. Roger Keith Mowery, 89, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2023. Roger was born January 16, 1934, the only child of two loving parents Doit H. Mowery and Helen Eversole Mowery of Allen County Ohio. Roger was a dedicated son, devoted husband, loving father and cherishe grandfather, but most of all, Roger was a man of great faith in God; and, he lived Each day by that faith! As a young man, Roger enjoyed the outdoors and played football in High School in Lafayette, Ohio. He graduated high school there and then attended Ohio State University in Columbus, where he met his beautiful wife Janet, and they went on to have two beautiful children together. Roger was a successful business man for many years; beginning in Lima, Ohio, working for Superior Coach Corporation. He was managing the Southern branch of one of their divisions, when he and his family moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, where he was Vice President of Professional Leasing. Later he worked for Marathon Oil out of Shreveport, Louisiana until his retirement. The Couple then returned to Little Rock to live near their children and grandchildren. Roger was a very devoted father and grandfather-a great support to all of them. He is preceded in death by his precious wife Janet Jo McKinney who passed away in 2020, and their Son, Steven R. Mowery, who passed at age 59. Roger is Survived by their daughter Lisa Ricketson Griffin, of Oak Harbor, Ohio and her husband Russell Griffin, and her son Jeremy Jones Ricketson- Roger's oldest grandchild. Also Surviving Roger is Steve's widow Dian Mowery, and their Daughters; Amber Mowery and Stephanie Mowery Yates and her husband Aaron Yates of Bryant, AR, and their son Dylan; Roger and Janet's only great grandchild. Roger was a kind man; a wonderful support to his family. He was active in the churches he attended throughout his life with his family. He supported his children in their activities: Coached his son's baseball teams; took him golfing, attended numerous piano recitals and choir concerts for his daughter. He was a man with a quick sense of humor and kept everyone smiling and laughing. A Celebration of life will be held to honor Roger's wonderful sense of humor at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home on Thursday, December 14, 2023. Dr. Jerome Kalman Sherman, (Jerry), 98, died peacefully in his home of 65 years, Friday, December 1st. Born August 14, 1925, in Brooklyn, New York, parents Murray & Beatrice (Freilich) Sherman. He was a retired professor of Anatomy UAMS (35 years) Survived by his children, Karen (Little Rock), Marc wife Terri Cohen (Little Rock), Keith Sherman wife Melanie (Plano); Grandchildren: Lori Vesole Fisher husband Evan (Atlanta), Steven Vesole wife Karen Vo (San Francisco) Elliott Sherman wife Elesia, Noah Sherman(Dallas), Matthew Sherman fiancee Roz Gray Bauer (Boston) and Rebecca Sherman (Little Rock) and great grandchildren Hannah & Jacob Fisher (Atlanta). Preceded in death by Hildegard, his wife of more than sixty years; and by his son-in-law, Irving Balto. Our Dad's many loves included his family, fishing, friends, community service, and his work as an educator and scientist. Perhaps even in that order. Jerry Sherman, the only child of working-class parents, attended Brooklyn College at age 16, then enlisted in the Navy to see the world during WWII and was on the first ship to dock in Nagasaki after the bombing. Upon his return, he entered Brown University to complete his undergrad degree. While working on his Ph. D. in Zoology at the University of Iowa he met Hildegard Schroeder who became his wife in 1953. Their firstborn Karen moved with them to Madison, Wisconsin where their son Marc was born, followed by a permanent teaching position at UAMS in Little Rock, Arkansas, where they completed their family with their son Keith. In addition to work stateside, several sabbaticals abroad expanded the scope of his work including Germany (on a Fulbright Scholarship) and Taiwan with his family. His work took international prestige as he founded Cryobanking with the creation of the American Association of Tissue Banks and is known as the "Father of Sperm-Banking". To date, more than 2000 vials are used annually to help families conceive. He donated all of his findings to science. As he would say "Google me". In addition to research, Jerry was best known for his passion as a teacher. Working at UAMS from 1958-1992, he estimated that he taught more than 5,000 students over his career. He was proud of mentoring students and loved to host which created a newfound era of inclusivity in his program. Everywhere he went, he ran into a former student who spoke highly of his humor, creativity, and passion for teaching as he is affectionately known as Spermin' Sherman. Jerry's loves included fishing as much as possible, lunch at specific Chinese and Indian buffets, puppetry, classical music and the big band era, camping and travel. During his lifetime, he travelled to countless countries with innumerable stories and jokes to tell. He shared these with his family, friends and anyone along the way as this man never knew a stranger. Jerry was a lifelong learner and servant. He enjoyed his courses at LifeQuest in his later years and always invested countless hours of community service at the Medical Center, Lions Club, the YMCA, VA, Temple B'Nai Israel, Boy Scouts, and founded the Jewish War Veterans AR Post 436. He was a staunch believer in equality and created inclusivity programs in the aforementioned affiliations. As a result he received countless awards for his volunteerism and work in Civil Rights including but not limited to: the Medical Center's Chancellor's Award, Presidential Gold Volunteer Award for the VA, Boy Scout's Silver Beaver Award, founder of the Meet and Greet at Temple B'Nai Israel, Jewish Federation of ArkansasTikkum Olam Award, Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Iowa, and he was inducted into the Senior Arkansan Award for the Hall of Fame. J. K . Sherman definitely left this world better than he found it. His memory will always be for a blessing. . . A private family burial was held Sunday and a future Celebration of Life will be Sunday, January 7th, 2 pm at Temple B'nai Israel. Patricia Ann Thomas-Williams-Simmons, age 82, was born in North Little Rock, Ark. , on October 7, 1941, and peacefully passed away on November 19, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Amanda Thomas; sister, Martha Allen; and daughter, Angela Williams (Father - Dr. Sterling Williams Jr). She is survived by: her loving husband, Fred L. Simmons Jr. ; children, Kimberly D. Simmons, Sterling Williams III (Father - Dr. Sterling Williams Jr. ), Derek E. Simmons (Yolanda), and Spencer (Jennifer) Williams (Father - Sterling Williams Jr. ); beautiful grandchildren, Christian Williams, Nicholas L. Simmons, and Sidney Williams. Patricia graduated valedictorian of the Scipio A. Jones High School Class of 1959. She was also a 1963 graduate of Philander Smith College, where she became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Gamma Alpha Chapter in 1960. Patricia was a lifelong member and faithful servant of Bethel AME Church in North Little Rock, Ark. , and a retired employee of the Arkansas Department of Human Services. Funeral service will be held Friday, December 8, 2023, 11 a. m. , Bethel AME Church, 600 N. Cedar Street in North Little Rock, Ark. ; Rev. Tyrone Broomfield, officiating. Visitation is at 10 a. m. , one (1) hour prior to the funeral service, also at the church. Interment will be immediately after the funeral service at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 West Maryland Avenue, North Little Rock, Ark. Bruce Anthony Junior was born into this life on December 23, 1964, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to parents Raymond and Earnestine Junior. He accepted Christ as his lord and savior and was a member of Second Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was a 1983 graduate of Sparkman High School. He excelled as an athlete, playing both basketball and football. After graduating high school, he joined the national guard and went on to study Secondary Education at the University of Arkansas. Bruce was a man of service, so upon graduating with his Bachelor of Science in Education in 1987, he officially enlisted in the U. S. Air Force. After 20 years of service and 3 assignments overseas, Bruce retired in 2007. After a brief stent as a stay-at-home dad and husband, he rejoined the workforce as a civilian contract worker with Blackson Arrow. Bruce was a man deeply dedicated to his family and life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, dominos, and looking after his family farm in Sparkman. During his 20 years of service in the U. S. Air Force, Bruce’s greatest accomplishments in life were marrying his wife Shirley and raising their two children Braylon and Briana. His family, friends, and work family will miss his strength, leadership, and love, but will never forget his spirit of encouragement and sense of humor. He was called home to be with the Lord Monday, November 27, 2023, at Baptist Health Hospital in North Little Rock, Arkansas. He joins his father, Raymond Junior, who made his transition on July 17, 1995, and mother, Earnestine Junior, who made her transition on August 17, 1999. His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of all those who were impacted by the inspiring life he lived. Bruce leaves his wife, Shirley Junior; their son, Braylon (Erin) Junior of Nashville, TN and daughter Briana (Justin) Sims of Little Rock, AR; two grandsons, Justin Sims II and Jhi Sims of Little Rock, AR; a sister, Margie Foote of Mabelvale, AR and brother Stevie Joe (Tressie) Junior of Mabelvale, AR; three brothers in-law, Alvin (Minnie) Dangerfield of Sparkman, AR, George (Trevalon) Dangerfield of Mineral Springs, AR, and Calvin Dangerfield of Arkadelphia, AR; three sisters in-law, Lynn (Emmanuel) Watson of Blytheville, AR, Geneva Harper of Warren, AR, and Shelia Hill of Sherwood, AR; two special nieces, Antoinette Pugh, of Conway, AR, and LaDana Junior of Little Rock, AR; a special nephew, Steven Junior, of Little Rock, AR; two aunts, Edies Matlock of Benton, AR, and Elease Harrison of Portland, OR; three Uncles Freddie C. Freda Deuerling Harness passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023, at the age of 91. She was born on April 21, 1932, in Engelberg, Arkansas, to Frank Joseph Deuerling and Mary Ida Wiesle Deuerling. Freda married Vernon A. Harness on May21, 1952. He passed away on February 14, 2013. Freda was a longtime member of St. Edward Catholic Church where she and Vernon proudly served coffee and donuts for over 13 years. She attended grade school at St. Edward School and graduated from Mt. St. Mary Academy in 1950. She made a name for herself as one of the "cafeteria ladies" serving hot lunches with homemade breads, desserts and cinnamon rolls daily. She was an active member of St. Edward Christian Mothers Sodality for over 50 years. She worked at Democrat Printing and Lithograph for many years and made lifelong friends there. She is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon A. Harness and 2 sons, David Vernon Harness and Timothy Lee Harness as well as 3 grandchildren. She is survived by 2 daughters, Mary Thomas (John), Rose Anne Smith (Donnie), and 3 sons, Larry Joseph, Jerry Allen (Lisa) and Thomas Lynn (Martha) Harness; 18 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. A rosary will begin at 10:00am followed by a visitation at 10:30am on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at St. Edward Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00am with burial at 1:00 at Calvary Cemetery in Little Rock.
