James Irving Moser, age 84, of Hillsville, passed away peacefully at his home on October 6, 2023 surrounded by his family. James was born on April 25, 1939 to the late Garland L. and Lennie E. Davis Moser. He was a member of the Great Hope Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Norma Horton Moser; daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Bill Conley and Pamela and David Sexton; sons and daughter-in-law, Terry Moser and Ronald and Sherry Moser; sisters, Patricia Carpenter and Phyllis Edwards; brother and sister-in-law, David and Sandy Moser; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Great Hope Baptist Church at 2:00 PM with Jeremy Morton officiating. Burial will be int eh the Great Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family. Randall Steven Dillon (Randy) was born February 22, 1967 in Galax, VA. He was loved by his wife, Robyn; daughters and sons-in-law, Rossie and Seth Gravley, and Annie and Jared Hall; his grandsons, Colton, Hunter, and Jax; Mother, Ruthie Dillon; sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Jason Pruitt; mother-in-law, Scarlett Hunter; and Grandmother, Lena Rose Dillon; and his favorite four-legged girl, Reesie. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, William (Mumps) Dillon; son, Jacob (Jake) Dillon; and father, Ronnie Dillon. He is remembered and loved by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. Randy experienced an unexpected heart attack and joined Jesus, Jake, and Poppy shortly after midnight on November 23, 2023. Randy is remembered by his family, friends, and trucking teams for his faith, being a loyal friend, his encouragement, wisdom, dependability, easy-to-be-with presence, his heart to serve, and fierce love for his family. He was a self-made mechanic, could give directions along most major highways in the US, would probably beat you in rock-and-roll trivia, and loved to hear a Harley Davidson or classic car fire up. Randy's Celebration of Life service will be held at Blue Ridge Fellowship on Saturday, December 2 at 11:00. There will be no formal family visitation prior. Doors will open at 10:50. Vicie Lilian Bowman Smith, 89, of Hillsville, Virginia passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023 at Commonwealth Senior Living in Hillsville, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Swanson Guy and Nannie Elizabeth Boyd Bowman; brothers, Rush Bowman, Ray Bowman, Relve Bowman, Thornton Bowman, Bernard Bowman, Ivan Bowman, and Wayne Bowman; sisters, Icie Turner, Iva Martin, and Barb Hawks. Survivors include her husband of 72 years, Everett Smith, Jr. ; daughters, Patty Smith, Becky Burke, and Shelly Cook; son-in-law, Brian Cook; grandchildren, Travis Burke, Clinton Burke, and Reagan Cook; sister, Bonnie Bowman. Vicie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she had many talents including, factory worker, Trenis convenience store clerk, nursing home aide, school bus driver, Pink Lady hospital volunteer. Vicie had a love for family, little children, kittens and cats, gardening, watching the hummingbirds, checking on the cows and calves with Junior, dancing and listening to music. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Gladesboro Lutheran Church Cemetery with Terry McMillian officiating. Followed by a nearby gathering for family and friends at the home of Becky Burke, 2342 Crooked Oak Road, Hillsville, Virginia 24343.
