M. Joyce Pickering, 90, of Naperville, Illinois, formerly of Akron, Ohio passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024. She was born on June 1, 1933, in Akron, Ohio.Joyce was a devoted wife to her husband of 38 years, Robert M. Pickering; loving mother of Karen Redell and Bob Pickering; and a dear grandmother of Megan Redell and Kendall Pickering. She is survived by Karen and Megan Redell. Joyce grew up in Akron, Ohio and attended North High School where she dated her husband, Robert, prior to her graduation in January 1951. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Akron University in 1956. On April 12, 1958 Joyce married Robert at North Hill Methodist Church. Joyce lived life to the fullest every day. She was devoted to her family. She enjoyed sports, either as a participant, cheerleader in high school, or avid fan. Later in life, she enjoyed traveling. Joyce was spirited, adventurous, and fun-loving. She felt "laughter is the vitality of life" and laughed often. Joyce will be loved always and missed deeply.A visitation will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, with a Service at 1:30 PM, at Hennessy Bagnoli Moore Funeral Home, 936 North Main Street, Akron, OH 44310. The burial is immediately following at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

Jennifer "Jenna" Elizabeth Fernandez (nee Meyer) passed away on February 21, 2024, in Naperville, Illinois at the age of 50. Born on October 22, 1973, in LaGrange, Illinois, Jenna was a loving wife to Ray Fernandez, a devoted mother to Moriah and Jio Fernandez, a caring daughter to Jim and Nancy Meyer, a cherished sister to Sue (Marc) Pusateri and Kristen (Charles) Gasser, and a beloved sister-in-law to Roy (Julie) Fernandez, Maria (Patrick) Wirth and Jeff Fernandez, and a loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Jim Meyer. Jenna was a Montessori Teacher. Eventually home-schooling her children as a Stay At Home mom, she invested her life to impart faith, hope and love into her children. She was known for her thoughtful kindness, living simply so she could give more generously to those in need of God's love. Jenna's hobbies included playing the keyboard, writing songs, reading, and going for walks. The many worship songs she composed inspired generations to worship Jesus with whole-hearted devotion. The ceremony to honor Jenna's life will be held at Living Water Community Church, 190 Lily Cache Lane, Bolingbrook, Illinois on Friday, March 9, 2024. Visitation at 10AM until time of funeral service at 11AM. Interment at Naperville Cemetery, Naperville, Illinois. Repast at Living Water Community Church immediately following interment. Ellen May Wilken was born on February 4, 1934, in Battle Creek, Iowa. While growing up on the family farm, she attended Battle Township #8 Country School and Battle Creek Ida Grove High School in Battle Creek. Ellen enlisted in the United States Air Force after high school graduation in 1952. She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. She had a strong faith and was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hinsdale, Illinois. Ellen was blessed with three children: Lee, Melanie, and Wynter. She was blessed with eight grandchildren: Jason, Mark, Jacob, Trenton, Kayla, Wilken, Logan, and Ethan. Ellen also had six great-grandchildren. Ellen’s dedication to her family was evident in everything she did; she cherished her family more than anything. Ellen enjoyed various hobbies and interests that brought joy to her life. She loved traveling, playing cards and collecting perfin stamps.

Mary Catherine Hughes, age 79, died at home in Naperville, IL, on February 23, 2024. She was born December 7, 1944, in Woodside, Queens, New York to Patrick and Susan (Ribar) Sullivan. She married Francis Xavier Hughes on August 21, 1965, after meeting on a blind date. She thought she would get a movie out of the evening, but it was love at first sight. Their 54-year marriage would become a model and inspiration for their children. When Frank became ill in 1998, and for the next 22 years, she managed his doctor’s appointments, tracked his medications, and comforted him through the numerous hospital stays. Her love kept him alive, thriving, and enjoying life despite his setbacks.Mary’s dad emigrated from Ireland, and in true Irish fashion, owned a bar over which the family lived. She graduated from St. Michaels High School in Union City, New Jersey. During her life, she worked as an operator for the telephone company, before the kids were born, and as a salesclerk and office manager once the kids were older.Mary was an avid reader and was very smart, beating every Jeopardy contestant she faced from the comfort of her home. She had a great sense of humor. Mary and Frank loved to spend time with “the CHAs”, as they called the group of people they befriended in Woodbridge, New Jersey. The CHAs came together because of their children and became great friends, even as life took them in different directions. She loved to travel, bringing or making friends on every trip,Mary is survived by daughter Jennifer (Jill) Hughes of Oswego, IL; son Kenneth (Pamela) Hughes of Macungie, PA; two grandchildren, Kathryn Hughes, and Lily Hughes; brother Dennis (Vinnie) Sullivan, sisters-in-law Rose (Michael, dec.) Hughes and Michelle (Jay, dec.) Hughes; as well as many nieces, nephews, the CHAs, and many dear friends.She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Frank, her parents Patrick and Susan Sullivan, and her brother Paul.Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.In accordance with their wishes, a memorial celebration for Mary will be held at a later date when they are returned to Cape May, New Jersey, the site of their favorite year together. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity. Arrangements have been entrusted to DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATRY, 1801 S. He was born in Joliet, IL on June 1, 1976 to Richard and Nancy (nee Frizzell) Findlay. He grew up in the Wilmington area, graduating with Wilmington High School’s class of 1994. Scott married Melissa Buell on October 14, 2016. He was employed as a warehouse manager for Wesco Electric. Scott was an avid fan of football with his favorite teams being the Michigan Wolverines and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. Scott was a natural jokester who liked to lighten up any room he was in. He is survived by his wife of 8 years, Melissa Findlay; his mother, Nancy Findlay; his brother, Adam (fiancée Lindsey) Findlay; his aunts, Judi Howell and Mary Norris; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Donna and Don Buell; his sister-in-law, Chris (Wayne) Fritts; his brother-in-law, Brian Buell; and his nieces and nephews, Samantha, Kevin, Lindsay and Jake Fritts and Devin, Kyal, Shyanna and Denaya.He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Findlay and his grandparents.Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
