"James Ray Kirsh was born January 18, 1952, to the late Jake and Nora Marshall. On the morning of September 17, 2023, James Ray completed his earthly journey and was called home to his eternal resting place. James was 71 years old. James met the love of his life, Mary Michael in 1969. To this union Janet Michael was born. James also was blessed with a son, Antonio Young. James joined Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church at a young age under the leadership of Reverend Slaughter. He later joined Oak Grove Baptist Church in Pearl, MS under the leadership of Pastor Cleve Harvard. James loved to sing and joined the choir at Oak Grove. James loved spending time with his grands, great grands, family and friends. He was a fisherman and he loves animals. And one of his best friends was his dog Rusty. \u0026quot;A true man best friend. \u0026quot; He was educated in Hinds (Sumner Hill) County and Jackson (Brinkley) Public School. James employed for 30 years at Guaranteed Roofing. He also, worked for MS State Fairground and Casey Elementary school where he retired. He was also a Saints Fan. James was proceeded in death by sons: Billy Ray Buckhaulter, O. C. Michael and John Wallace Michael; and nephews Jessie and Anthony Marshall. "Earsell Collier, Sr. was born on October 10, 1938, to the late Harvey \u0026amp; Bertha Collier in Brandon. Mississippi. He attended and graduated from Rankin County Schools. He accepted Christ at an early age at Mountain Ridge Methodist Church in Brandon, Mississippi. After moving to Gulfport, Mississippi, He united with Mercy Seat Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Rogers Tyler Sr, then St Mark United Methodist Church under the leadership of Rev Beasley. He was a member of the Trustee Committee and served on various committees. On June 28, 1959 He married the True Love of his life, Carrie Lee Austin and to this union three children were born, Winnell, Earsell, Jr. and Angela. Earsell loved his family and enjoyed family gatherings, especially Holidays and Homecoming gatherings in Brandon, MS. His kind yet strong spirit, wisdom, and love of God allowed him to impact many lives in a loving and positive manner. He was a devoted husband, and friend to many who will cherish him in their hearts forever. His early work career started at Jackson Door \u0026amp; Sash Company in Jackson, MS. He relocated his family to Gulfport, MS in 1970 and became very instrumental in the rebuilding of the MS Gulf Coast after Hurricane Camille by serving as the driver chosen to make brick deliveries all over the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Following in his Father\u0027s footsteps, Earsell inherited that entrepreneurial spirit. After working at Tri-State Brick \u0026amp; Tile for 28 years, he decided to go into the Trucking Business along with Fred Bradley, where Bradley-Collier Trucking Company from 1989-1993. He later opened two transportation companies, Faith \u0026amp; Hope, and L\u0026amp;H Transportation, Inc. He officially retired in 2014. He loved to dine out at the casinos with Family and Friends. Earsell was preceded in death by his beloved wife (Lee); siblings, Harvey John Collier, Earnest J. Collier, Pastor Jerry Collier, Lonnie Collier, Velma Lock, Harvey Lee Lofton and Eva Mae Mangum; and two sons, Rayfield Washington and Earsell Collier, Jr. He leaves to cherish his loving memories three daughters, Marion Vaughn of Jackson, MS; Winnell (Earl) Lovette and Angela Collier of Gulfport, MS. "Valerie Booker was born to the late M. L. Puckett and Peggy Smith in Forest, MS on September 16, 1967. She was the second child born out of five, but the oldest girl. Her siblings in order from oldest to youngest were Charles Smith, Nap, Angela Smith (Bonner), Kimberly Smith (Yancy), and Urias Smith. Valerie believed in her heart Jehovah is the creator of all things. As a young girl "nap" attended the Kingdom Hall with her mother and siblings. That's where she found peace. Her heart was pure and true to that. She attended Jackson Public Schools where she thrived. On August 5, 1983 she gave birth to her first born daughter Sharries Smith (Brittian). Soon after that, she bore a daughter Michella Renee Smith who later passed. She had four more children, all boys Apollos Smith, Derrick (Hannah) Smith, Jeremy Smith, and Larenzo (Amber) Smith. On August 10, 1991 she married Derrick Booker in Jackson, Ms and they were married 32 years and have been together 38 years. She was a very peaceful family driven person, who had a big heart. But don't let the look fool you though, she gave you what you were looking for if she was pushed to it. She took care of lots of people and loved children. She took many children under her wing and helped raise them. That's who she was, she asked no questions she would just say "come on". She worked extremely hard to provide for her family. She worked as an insurance broker and a certified nurses assistant. She completed her journey here on November 10, 2023. She leaves behind her husband, 5 children, and 6 grandchildren. "Panessa Lavern Miller Johnson was born on December 4, 1960, in Jackson, Mississippi to the late Dorothy Mae Miller and the late Jesse D. Washington Sr. She was raised by her maternal grandmother Florice Miller after the passing of her beloved mother Dorothy Mae Miller. Panessa entered eternal rest on Friday, November 10, 2023, at St. Dominic\u0027s Hospital surrounded by family. Panessa attended Carter High School until integration, later attended and graduated Brandon High School (Class of 1978). She furthered her education at Hinds Community College where she received her Pharmacy License and began her career as a Pharmacy Technician at Eckerd\u0027s Drug Store where she retired after 29 years. Panessa then began her career at MS Department of Corrections in 1997 where she retired this past June. Panessa spent much of her life working multiple jobs, balancing family life, shopping at her favorite retail stores (Belk and JCPenney) and watching her favorite teams the Dallas Cowboys and the Los Angeles Lakers, Panessa joined Greater New Friendship M. B. Church in her youth and was baptized under the leadership of Pastor A. L. Burns. In adulthood, she joined Pilgrim Rest M. B. Church where she served on the Usher Board, a member of the Sanctuary Choir, Sunday School Secretary and recently joined the Youth Department. Panessa was preceded in death by her parents Dorothy Mae Miller and Jesse D. Washington, Sr. , her maternal grandparents George and Florice Miller, her paternal grandparents Noble and Dora Lee Washington along with uncles, aunts, and cousins. Ruth White, age 90, of Brandon, Mississippi, passed peacefully from this life to the next at The Arbor in Ridgeland on November 13, 2023. Born and raised on a vibrant family farm in Union, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Huron and Lorene Gardner. Ruth attended East Central Junior College and worked for many years as a cost accountant. She lived a full life, traveling the world with her devoted husband, Dr. John White IV, having been married nearly 55 years. Ruth was stepmother to John White V, David White, and Hugh (Lisa) White. She is survived by a brother, Charles Gardner, and sister, Margaret Ely. Siblings preceding her in death were Freda Smith, James Gardner, and Chester Gardner. She cared deeply for her many nieces and nephews, loved to give advice, and was often actively involved in many of their lives. Ruth was an active member of St. Stephen's Anglican Church and served faithfully for many years on the Altar Guild. She held the title of treasurer/secretary of The Ralph Humphrey Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America, and The Central Medical Society of the Mississippi State Medical Association. As an avid tennis player, she enjoyed spending time with the Hot Flashes Women's Tennis Club. She also enjoyed fine dining, traveling, and snow skiing. No public service will be held, and internment will take place at St. Stephen's Anglican Church in Flowood, Mississippi.Show more

Robert Christian Hansen (Chris), passed away on November 19, 2023, in Brandon, Mississippi. He was born on February 1, 1972, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Chris dedicated over 27 years of his life to education, leaving a significant impact on countless students throughout Mississippi. For 17 of those years, he worked with the Jackson Public School District. His commitment to his students was unwavering, and he approached his profession with immense enthusiasm and care. Education played a significant role in Chris's own life as well. He completed his high school education at Father Lopez Catholic High School, where he excelled both academically and athletically. Chris lettered in football and baseball while also serving as the president of his senior class. After high school, he attended Davidson College before transferring to the University of Southern Mississippi. It was at the university where Chris pursued his passion for learning and specialized in special education and administration. He earned his Masters in these fields and further cemented his dedication to shaping young minds. Growing up in Daytona Beach, Florida, Chris found solace and joy in deep-sea fishing and was an ardent supporter of the Florida Gators. These were some of his favorite memories cherished with his late father, J. C. Hansen. Chris was a very devoted husband and father. He enjoyed coaching, mentoring, and spending time with his children. He and his family were long-time members of the Brandon First United Methodist Church. Chris will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his children Kyle Christian Hansen and Sarah Kate Hansen, his former wife, Shana Hansen, and loving mother, Barbara Jean MacGregor Hansen, sisters, Summer Davey and husband Mike, and April Hedrick and husband, Rod. He is also survived by a niece and nephew, Kaelyn and Charlie Davey. Cousins, Joy Borresen, Joe Keener, and Pam Kern. In-laws, Roger and Sue Holman, Michael and Melissa Holman, and nieces and nephew, Jordan, Lora Grace, and Sam Holman. Chris was preceded in death by his father, John Charles Hansen, and his grandparents, Charles MacGregor, Jean MacGregor, Charles Hansen, and Jane Hansen. In memory of Chris, visitation services will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at the Brandon First United Methodist Church. The visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and conclude at 11:30 AM, followed by a memorial service. Chris had a profound impact on the lives he touched, and his memory will forever be cherished by his friends and family. May he rest in eternal peace as we remember him for his kind heart, dedication to education, love for sports, and adventurous spirit.
