April 24, 2019
Lynn, MA
James L. "Jim" Jonah, age 58, of Tennessee and formerly of Lynn and North Hampton, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 24, 2019. Born in Lynn, Jim was the loving son of Annmarie (Pennino) Jonah and the late George L. Jonah, Jr. He grew up with his four siblings on Virginia Terrace and had lifelong neighborhood friends from St. Pius V School, Carter Road and around Flax Pond. Jim graduated from Lynn English High School in 1979 and worked at the Jonah family business, Berridge Pharmacy as a teen. Jim was an avid reader and storyteller. He attended Northeastern University and Mass College of Pharmacy. In 1986 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was deployed to Bahrain to serve in Desert Shield, Desert Storm and later the Corazon Coup in the Philippines. Jim received military honors including the National Defense Service Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Southeast Asia Service Ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation, Meritorious Unit Commendation and Sea Service Ribbon. Jim worked as an electrical technician at Bell Technologies in Burlington and Sypris Test & Measurement in Winter Park, Florida. Jim adored his eleven nieces and nephews who will remember him for his fish stories, fierce games of cribbage and water skiing on Square Pond. He patiently taught each kid the joys of lake life - finding the secret spots where the big bass lived. Whenever any of the kids achieved a milestone, especially in fishing, Jim would ceremoniously award them one of his military medals. Jim's family would like to acknowledge and thank the Veterans Healthcare system, especially in Bedford and Northampton for the excellent care they provide to our veterans. Jim leaves his mother Annmarie Jonah of Lynn; his sisters and brother, Joanne Domeniconi and her husband Jorge of Belmont, David Jonah and his wife Pamela Kouroubacalis of Lynn, Eileen Jonah Daly of Lynnfield and Kristen Morehouse and her husband Jack of Stonington, Connecticut and his cherished nieces and nephews, Alex, Noelle, Marcelo and Will Domeniconi, Domenic and Vanessa Jonah, Connor, Shannon and Jonathan Daly and Claire, Caroline and Chloe Morehouse.
