Kathleen Scaglione

Age - 50

July 6, 2023

July 3, 2023, Kathleen Scaglione of Armonk, NY, passed quietly and peacefully with family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. Kathy was born in Yonkers, NY, on June 12, 1973, to Irene (Washienko) and William Powers, and grew up in Pleasantville, NY, graduating from Pleasantville High School in 1991 and Pace University in 1996. In 1999 she married her beloved husband, James Scaglione, and they settled in Armonk, NY. She began working for Bresnan Communications and Little Sparrows Nursery before shifting her full-time devotion to raising her children, Nicholas and Olivia. Kathy was passionately devoted to her children and her extended family. She loved attending Nicholas's football, basketball, and baseball games and Olivia's basketball games and choir concerts, where she was a reliably fierce and vocal cheerleader. She came to love the chivalry of Big 10 Football and was prodigious in the uncommon harmony she forged in her devotion to longtime rivals, The Ohio State University Buckeyes and the University of Michigan Wolverines - where her children attended college. She loved drinking a perfectly mixed French martini, watching reality T. V. , and being with family on annual vacations to Cape Cod and the Jersey Shore. She would never miss an occasion to host family and friends at her home, where she would go above and beyond to spread her love through her cooking and baking. Her passion for baking led to her flourishing business, "Kathy's Cookies," which was fast becoming known for arrestingly artful and one-of-a-kind cookie designs that graced tables at birthdays, graduations, and celebrations of all kinds. Her laugh was purely infectious, and her vibrant personality lit up any room. Her enormous heart left us way too soon, but her laughter is now the lark's song that echoes in Heaven's Garden. Kathy is predeceased by her father, William Powers, mother-in-law Carmen Scaglione and brother-in-law Anthony Scaglione. She is survived by her mother, Irene Powers, her loving husband, James, and her two beautiful children, Nicholas and Olivia. She is also survived by her brother William Powers (Sari), sister Karyn Freder (Drew), brother Thomas Powers (Stephanie) as well as her father-in-law William Scaglione, and in-laws William Scaglione Jr. (Denise), Colleen Sullivan-Scaglione-Neglia (Eric), and Karen Di Pietro (Giocondo). She leaves numerous nieces and nephews whom she unendingly doted upon: Mark, Michael, Anthony, Riley, Jack, Katharine, Jason, Justin, Jessica, and Matthew. The family will receive friends at the Beecher Funeral Home, 418 Bedford Road, Pleasantville, NY, on Friday, July 7th, from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's R. C. in Armonk, NY, on Saturday, July 8th at 10 AM. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her name to Northern Westchester Hospital, 400 East Main Street, Mount Kisco, NY 10549, which greatly aided her at the end of her life.
