Cremation arrangements for Mr. James Edward Horton, 76, of Kilgore are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Mr. Horton was born on July 9, 1947, in Tyler, Texas and passed away on October 3, 2023, in Tyler. James Horton was the son of the late Daniel and Martha Horton. James served his country in the United States Navy. James enjoyed living in Alaska for 20 years and traveled back as often as he could. He loved exploring Alaska as a bush pilot as well as gold mining, hiking and fishing. James was a collector of old photos, books, and mementos of his travels and of Kilgore. Mr. Horton was preceded in death by his parents and wife of 35 years, Juanita Martin Horton. He is survived by his four children, Richard Horton of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jamie Horton Williams of Victor, Idaho, Lynn Harbert Fulks of San Marcos, California, and John Harbert of Houston, Texas; brother, Robert Horton of Kilgore; sisters, Debbie Bain of Bryan, Texas, and Sue Sewell of Kilgore; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Krystina Dianne Tinney Ligon, 34, completed her earthly journey after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at her home in Kilgore surrounded by her loved ones. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023, six until eight o'clock in the evening at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Funeral service will be Friday, December 1, 2023, at one o'clock in the afternoon at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. A burial will immediately follow at Danville Cemetery. Krystina was born on August 27, 1989, in Longview, Texas to Torrey Lang Waldon and Tina Tinney Jimenez. She was a proud 2007 graduate of Kilgore High School. Krystina enjoyed her artistic outlet of creating t-shirts. She was honest and forthright, never one to hold back her outspoken nature. Krystina was dedicated to her lord and savior and her beloved family. She was a loving mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who have had the pleasure of knowing her. In passing Krystina was reunited with her biological father Torrey Waldon, her grandfather Robert Lee Tinney, and brother-in-law Christopher William. Left to cherish her memory are her parents Tina and Joe "Daddy" Alfred Jimenez of Kilgore, grandmother Sandra Kay Tinney of Kilgore, children; Jayden Wayne McPherson, Brayden Shawn McPherson, Waylen Joe Dean Ligon and Mikel Paul Ligon, all of Kilgore, Texas, her siblings; Josey Leeann Jimenez of Kilgore, Logan Weslee Tyeskie of Kilgore, Layten Waldon of Kilgore, Torrey Lane Waldon of Ore City, Saeben Green of Pensacola, Florida, and Aryan Sebastian Waldon of Kilgore; Uncle Kevin Tinney of Kilgore, TX, Aunts; Stacy Procell of Kilgore, Robbie Tinney of Kilgore, and Tiffaney Waldon of Kilgore, TX, Nephew - Jay'vian Williams of Kilgore, her best friend Britney Jarman of Kilgore along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.Show more

Services for Mr. Mark Lynn Smires, 61, of Kilgore will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at two o'clock in the afternoon at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore with Reverend Scott Brown officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Pirtle Cemetery, in Rusk County. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 from six until eight o'clock in the evening at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore for visitation. Mark completed his earthly journey on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at his home in Kilgore. Mark was born on September 16, 1962, in Overton, Texas. He was the oldest son of Kay Smires and the late Jim Smires. As a boy, Mark rarely made it home before the streetlights came on; although, he could always be found punting a football in the street or at the field preparing for his next "Punt, Pass and Kick" competition. He started school at Overton Elementary and graduated in 1980 from Kilgore High School, where he was an all-district quarterback/Punter for the Bulldogs football team. After high school, Mark played two years of football, and was a junior college All American for the Kilgore College Rangers. Later completing his education at the University of Texas at Arlington where he received a bachelor's degree in finance and economics. Using his degree, combined with his genuine warmth and deep affinity for all people, Mark worked for 16 years as a stockbroker for Smith Barney. Hanging up the suit and tie, Mark and his father Jim Smires began Smires inc. , where he worked in the oilfield for the remainder of his life. Mark was an avid outdoorsman, a sports enthusiast, and was highly involved in coaching youth sports throughout his adult life. Mark was a natural leader and enjoyed helping young athletes transition into young adults, staying in touch with many of them until his final days. Mark had a deep personal relationship with Christ, being saved and baptized at the age of 6 in Overton, Texas, prioritizing his faith heavily in the later years of his life. He was a loving protector of many and was always willing to fight for those that were unable to fight for themselves. His love for his daughters, family, friends, and employees had no limits. His generosity, selflessness, loyalty, and compassion will be missed by all who knew him. Mark is survived by his mother, Kay Smires of Kilgore; brother, Mike Smires of Kilgore; sister, Sissy Smires and husband Jim of Kilgore; daughters, Quincee Smires, Hallie Smires, and Kate Smires; along with cousins, nephews, nieces, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Smires. Mark would want everyone to remember the children in-need during the holidays.
