Mr. James (Jim) Harold Hopson, Jr. , age 84, a resident of Ellisville, Missouri, died Wednesday, September 6, 2023 in Chesterfield, MO. He was born July 14, 1939 in Hope, Arkansas. Jim is survived by his loving son and daughter James Harold Hopson III of Los Angeles, CA, and Andrea Hopson Grens (married to Trenton James Grens) of Glen Ellyn, IL. Jim is also survived by two wonderful grandchildren, Christian James Grens (13) and Kiefer Lennox Grens (12). Upon graduation from high school in Paris, AR, Jim served a tour of duty in the Army in Ft. Polk, LA as a sergeant. He then went on to graduate from Arlington State College in Arlington, TX, where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was recruited directly out of college and worked for Southwestern Bell (now AT&T) for over 30 years and retired at the age of 55 and lived the remainder of his life in Chesterfield, MO. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed traveling and learned how to scuba dive. He loved playing racket ball and played at least twice a week into his 80's. Jim was an avid reader, reading 1-2 books a week. Kyle William Cook, age 61, of Ellisville, MO, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2023. Kyle was born on September 26, 1961 in St. Louis, MO, a son of Edward Cook, deceased, and Dixie L. Cook of Ellisville, MO. Kyle was a loving son, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and a dear friend to many. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Kyle grew up in Florissant, MO, and attended Parker Road Elementary School, Cross Keys Middle School and McClure North High School. He played football at Cross Keys and McClure North, where he was also a member of the band. Kyle loved music and taught himself to play the guitar. After graduating from the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity, he moved to Edwardsville, IL. He worked for Kimberly-Clark and Georgia Pacific becoming territory manager of the year. He also worked for Walgreens as a Executive Assistant Manager for many years. He was in a band, Rivers Edge, in Edwardsville, IL, and enjoyed playing at different locations in the area. He attended First Presbyterian Church of Edwardsville and sang in the choir. Kyle loved life, he loved to laugh, but most of all he loved his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his mother, Kyle is survived by his loving son, Brendon (Jayna) Cook; proud grandfather to Artemis; dear siblings, Kevin (Nancy) Cook and Kent (Susan) Cook; nieces, nephews, extended family and many wonderful friends. Alice Kathryn Buren, age 88, of St. Louis County, Missouri, formerly of Jefferson County, Missouri, passed away Sunday August 13, 2023 at Bethesda Meadow in Ellisville, Missouri. She was born December 16, 1934 in Herculaneum, Missouri, the daughter of the late Virginia Alice (nee Manning) and William Henry Drinen. She was a beloved mother, wife and grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, puzzles and playing endlessly with her grandchildren. She was a kind and gentle person who brought a smile to so many people. She is survived by sons Kenneth (Sandra) Buren of Ellisville, and Eric Buren of DeLand, Florida; daughter Karen (James) Cassout of Scott City, Missouri; grandchildren Christopher Utley, Joshua Utley, Amanda (Tony) Mirabella, Katherine Buren and Charles Buren; and one great granddaughter, Elizabeth Utley. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Charles L. Buren; sisters Shirley (the late Roy) Lancaster, Wilma (the late Lee) Head, Ruth (the late Roy) Shifflett, and Betty (Alvin survives of DeSoto, Missouri) Keefe; and brothers Lawrence (Barbara survives) Drinen, Walter (the late Betty) Drinen, and Charles (the late Ellen) Drinen. Alice worked as a seamstress at several garment factories, retiring from Levi Strauss in Wynn, Arkansas. She was a former member of Sandy Baptist Church of Hillsboro, Missouri where she and her husband Charles were on countless committees and were fundamental in helping build the "new" church that was completed in 1966. Visitation 4:00 P. M. to 7:00 P. M. Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home in Pevely, Missouri. Funeral services 9:00 A. M. Thursday, August 17, 2023, at the funeral home. Buraszeski, Leah M. 51, of Ellisville MO passed away November 2, 2022, surrounded by family and friends. Leah is survived by her beloved children Jessica Overton and Eric (Casey Carter) Overton, as well as her three precious grandchildren, T. J. Verdu, Abbey Verdu, and Elias Happle. Leah was the treasured daughter of Patricia (nee Nicholas) Buraszeski and the late Stanley Buraszeski. She is also survived by her step-mommy dearest Karen (Tom) Browdy; brothers Tony (Diane) Buraszeski, Mike (Kathy) Buraszeski, and Nick Flaton; her bonus sister Michelle (Lou) Tripoli; former partner and long-time friend Douglas Overton as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. Leah enjoyed weekends at the lake, vacations at the beach, listening to Elvis, dancing to polka music, and (most of all) spending time with family and friends. Leah always greeted you with a smile. She was quick to laugh and was famous for her long "Leah hugs. " Leah was loved my many. Her fun-loving spirit will be fondly remembered and terribly missed by those who knew her. Phyllis "Susie" Rosenthal, 88, of Ellisville, MO, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2022, at SSM Health St. Claire Hospital, St. Louis, MO. She was born October 11, 1933, a daughter of Jesse Lowell "Hydie" and Ann Muriel (Whitley) Orr. She married Max Irving Rosenthal on March 15, 1958. He passed away in 2006. Mrs. Rosenthal graduated Litchfield High School in 1951 and went on to Washington University for four years, graduating in 1955. She was a member of St. Marks Presbyterian Church in Ballwin, MO, and Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and an honorary member of Delta Gamma. She enjoyed playing piano, Bridge, bowling and tennis. She enjoyed traveling and organizing trips for groups. Phyllis was also a buyer for the former Stix, Baer & Fuller Department Stores. She also taught English to immigrants. Mrs. Rosenthal is survived by her two sons, David Rosenthal of Cincinnati, OH, and Christopher Rosenthal of Ellisville, MO. ; one brother Richard "Dick" (Alice) Orr of Naples, FL. 3 grandchildren; Rachel Rosenthal, Hayden Rosenthal and Savannah Rosenthal. Mrs. Rosenthal is preceded in death by her husband Max Rosenthal and her parents. Graveside services for Mrs. Rosenthal will be held on Monday, June 13, 2022, at 11:00 A.
