James Alsup Hill, 74 of Schulenburg passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023 in Tomball, Texas. He was a BOI on September 13, 1948 to Alsup and Myrtle Hill. James was a resident of Schulenburg and lived most of his life in La Marque. He was a United States Marine and served in the Vietnam War from 1967 - 1971 and received the Purple Heart and Vietnam Service Medal. James was a member of VFW 8248, First Baptist Church of Schulenburg, Square Dance Club and Camping Clubs. He was a Police Officer with UTMB in Galveston retiring after 30 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Janell Hoffman and Brenda Dipley and brother Dennis Hill. James is survived by his wife of 54 years, Julie Clara Hill and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be from 12:00 - 2:00pm on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at the Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque. The service will be 2:00pm on Thursday, September 14, 2023 with Pastor David Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock.

Jimmie Hollis Gray Sr. , 91, of Tomball, TX, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus on November 28, 2023. He was born in Aberdeen, Mississippi in 1932 to William Gray and Mary Ann Atkins. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1952 and served honorably until 1960 and remained a member of the Tomball VFW Post 2427 until his passing. Jimmie was preceded in death by his father, William Gray; mother, Mary Ann Gray; father-in-law, Raymond Pink Vessels; mother-in-law, Victorine Bishop; sister, Connie; sister, Ludie Mae; brother, Charles Clayton; brother, William Thurston; brother, Thomas Franklin; sister, Reba Joyce; brother, Robert Ray; brother, Ollie Lewis; brother, Cecil Atkins; brother, David Earl; brother-in-law, John Duhe; sister-in-law; Janis Duhe; and grandson, Justin Gray. Survivors include his wife Wanda Gray; sister, Mary Ann Dietsch; daughter, Wendy Lewis and husband RC; son, Jimmie Gray Jr. and wife Debbie; grandchildren, Kandi Lewis, Bobby Lewis, Kelli Donivan and husband Steve, and Josh Gray; granddaughter-in-law, Michelle Gray; great-grandchildren, Carson, Emmerson and Addison, Marty, and Carl and wife Nadine; great-great grandchildren, Jude and Maverick; nephew, Raymond Duhe; niece, Nanda Kirkpatrick; and many other family and friends. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Thursday, December 7, from 5 p. m. to 6 p. m. with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 6 p. m. at Salem Lutheran Church, 22601 Lutheran Church Rd. , Tomball, TX 77377. Donald "Don" Ford, age 77, of Tomball, Texas, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2023 in Tomball. He was born February 1, 1946 in Paris, Texas to Byron and Joan (Caton) Ford. He married Betty Taylor, the love of his life, on August 31, 1968. Don attended Texas Tech and graduated in 1975 with a degree in Agricultural Engineering. He worked one year at Fort Hood then went to work for the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, which he retired from in 2010 in San Angelo, TX. Don and Betty moved to Tomball, TX in 2017 to be near their children. While in Tomball, he formed his own engineering business and contracted work for other companies. Don worked for the Harris County Flood Control District from June, 2019 to August, 2023. He loved working and retired only when he could not work anymore. Don loved soccer and tennis. He coached soccer for both boys and girls for many years in San Angelo, TX. He began playing tennis in San Angelo and continued as long as he could in the Houston area. Don was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Kyle and his parents, Joan and Byron Ford. Don is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty Taylor Ford, son Kevin and wife Allie, and son Jason and wife Julia and 3 grandchildren, Lawson, Brooks, and Stella. He is also survived by two brothers Jimmy and wife Paula and Billy and wife Sandie. Nieces and nephews include Cheri Sain, Hyla Merrifield, Michael Ford and Steven Ford and several great nieces and nephews.
