James Haynes Obituary

"James Edward Haynes, affectionately known as Uncle Ed, was born to Jackson and Clonia Haynes on March 19, 1927, in Bonita, LA. He passed away at 96 years old, on April 26, 2023, at his home in Sacramento, CA. He married Dolly Haynes on August 18, 1975, in Reno, Nevada. To provide for his family, he worked as a warehouse man for the United States Department of Air Force for 38 years. He also served two years in the US Army. He was a "Jack of All Trades", skilled in carpentry, masonry, plumbing, auto mechanics. He was also a holiday chef, avid fisherman, and table pool player. He received commendations from both the Sacramento Fire and Police departments. James is preceded in death by his parents, Clonia and Jackson Haynes; wife, Dolly Haynes; siblings, LC Haynes, RC Haynes, JC Haynes, Zula Gaines, Annie Jones; sons, Charles White and Chappell Ford; and granddaughter, Jamie Smith. James is survived by his sister Futhia James; daughters Christine (Ed) Fowler, Kenya Williams; grandchildren, Nakeisha (Fred IV) Armstrong, Martin (Amy) Mayes, Marquis Fowler, Preston Williams, Doleigh Williams; great-grandchildren, Synclaire Armstrong, Christian Armstrong; and a host of nieces and nephews. The viewing will be held from 4pm - 6pm on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes. Funeral Services will be held at 10 am on Friday, May 26, 2023, at Sunset Lawn with pastor Elder Adrain Edwards of Victory Temple Pentecostal Church, officiating.
