Protection, KS
James Wesley Hart, of Protection, KS, also known as Jim, Jimmy, Dad, Daddy, and Grandpa Jim went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at 84 years young in the Comanche County Hospital, Coldwater, KS. Jim was born on August 10, 1939 at the family farm home in Sun City, KS to Edward E. Hart and Mildred M. Bodenhamer-Hart. Jim grew up on the farm and learned the farming trade in his youth from his father, Ed. He attended grade school and high school in Sun City, KS. He participated in sports, basketball, baseball and track. He graduated from Sun City High School in 1957 and soon after he graduated, he started his rodeo career, riding bucking bulls and broncos. On August 21st of that same year, he married his high school sweetheart, Patricia L. Cook, and in March of 1958, they moved from Sun City, KS to Protection, KS to begin their lifelong legacy. Jim started working at Lane Myers barbed wire company and then was offered a farming job for Gene Ewy, so he quit working at Lane Myers and farmed by day and rodeoed evenings, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, every week. He continued to Rodeo for approximately 20 years, alongside farming, ranching with cattle, roughneck work, and a sawmill business with his son Justin Hart; also a baling and hauling hay business with his partner, Nevan Riner. Jim continued to work up until about 5 years ago when he retired. He stayed busy with his horse Jake and his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his first indoor dog, Shiloh, and his many cats and spending time with his wife, Pat, up until he passed away. Jim Hart brought 100% to all he did in life. He was present and worked hard at everything he did. He loved his wife and family deeply, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a friend to anyone he met. He was a horse whisperer and just had a way with all animals. He was so gentle, caring, and kind. He was loved deeply by his wife Pat and his family and many friends. He will be greatly missed. Until we all meet again, he is present with Christ and rejoicing in heaven.
