James Bondy Glisson "Jimmy", 93, of Rolling Fork died June 11, 2022, at his home surrounded by family and friends. Jimmy was born on June 27, 1928, to the late Bondy O. Glisson and Lois Miles of Yazoo City, Mississippi. He was a graduate of Yazoo City High School, Hinds Junior College, and Tulane University where he excelled in football. After graduation from Tulane University, he was drafted into the National Football League by the Chicago Bears. Jimmy worked and retired from Mississippi Chemical Corporation in Yazoo City. Jimmy was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed golfing, duck hunting, gardening, and many more outdoor activities. He is preceded in death by his first wife Polly Phillips Glisson; sister Jeanne Glisson McConnell; brother-in-law Billy McConnell; brother and sister-in-law Harold and Melba Glisson; son-in-law David Alan Arrington and grandson Jeff Alan "Jae" Arrington. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Cooper Ford of Rolling Fork; daughters Gayle Bullock (Wayne) of Tylertown, Leslie Hollingsworth (Tom) of Glen Allen, Lacie Brackeen (Lee) of Leland, grandson Todd Saxton (Betheney) of Madison; granddaughters Polly Poole (Steven) of Tylertown, Sarah Thomas Hollingsworth of Madison, Swayze Hollingsworth of Glen Allan, Mattie Grace Arrington, and Myles Cooper Arrington of Leland; along with two great grandsons, Smith and Drake Saxton. A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, June 27, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church in Rolling Fork, MS. Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:30 p. m. with service to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the Rolling Fork United Methodist Church, Samaritan's Purse, or any charity of choice.
