James Given Obituary

James Russell "Jim" Given, 84, of Marshallville, OH died on April 21, 2023 of Lung Cancer at Ohio Hospice LifeCare of Wooster. Jim was born in Charleston, WV to the late Curg and Hildreth (Adkins) Given on March 3, 1939. He was predeceased by his daughter, Suzanne Given Berlin, and his siblings, Jaqueline (Carter) Richardson, H. Frank (Nancy) Given, and Linda Bailey. After graduating from Wadsworth High School in 1957, Jim was an auto mechanic owning several gas station/repair shops. Then he moved south and was a crane mechanic on oil platforms before retiring to Marshallville, OH. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cheryl (Sim) Given; family, Pamela (Tim) Given Wilson, Wheeling, WV, Jenna (Dan) Oberlin, Marshallville, OH, Patti-Ann Sim, Sarnia, Ontario, and Marc (Andrea) Loran, La Salette, Ontario; Grandchildren, Asa (Jenni) Berlin, Andrew and Evan Wilson, Emma and Luke Oberlin, Christal Hennessy, Russel (Michelle) Hennessy, Erick Hennessy, Skyla Sim-Ross, Jorge Santana Ramirez and Mateo Loran Santana, and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Kay (John) Strickland, Faye (Bob) Nixon, Judy (Pat) Riley, Sue (John) Kabasky, Ted (Debbie) Given, Mary (Lannie) Roberts, brother-in-law, Bob Bailey, and fishing buddy and close nephew, Terry (LaDonna) Richardson and many nieces and nephews. As per his wishes, Jim was cremated and no services or events are planned.
