With great joy, Jim Faircloth went to stand in the glorious presence of His God and Savior, on Friday, October 6, 2023. James Loyce Faircloth, Jr. , was born in Houston, Texas, on November 9, 1945, to the late James Loyce Faircloth, Sr. , and the late Eunice Fortner Faircloth. Jim was also preceded in death by his brother, Warren. He grew up in Seville, Rochelle, and Abbeville. Jim is survived by his wife of 46 years, Diane; his two sisters, Martha Bullock and Ava Blazi; his sister-in-law, Janette Williams (Durward); and his wonderful nieces and nephews: Caroline Usher, Kim Sexton (Tim), Ric Blazi (Genie), Jennifer Farmer (Matt), Kelly Ward (Ryan), Daniel Williams (Kristian), and Anna Shirley (Ryan). Jim was ordained almost 60 years ago as a Baptist Preacher. He served churches in Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Indiana, and New York. Jim retired in 2010 as Area Missionary of the South-Central Area Missions Program. He was a member of the Eastman First Baptist Church and the New Horizons Core Group. Jim graduated from Abbeville High School in 1963. He majored in History and graduated from Middle Georgia College and Georgia Southern. Jim received a Master of Divinity from Southern Seminary in 1980. During his army years in the States and Korea, Jim was a Behavioral Science Specialist and Social Worker. Jim loved Jesus and was blessed to proclaim the Gospel. He also loved people. God entrusted him with amazing intelligence, the perfect words for every situation, and a gift for writing. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, October 14th, at 2:00 p. m. in the Southerland Funeral Chapel, 206 5th Ave. , Eastman GA. with his nephews, Ric Blazi and Daniel Williams officiating. James David Brown, age 70, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 11, 2023. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 4:00 PM at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Owensboro with Rev. Barry Campbell and Rev. Johnny Cook officiating. Music will be provided by Mr. Ethan Rountree. The family will be receiving friends and family on Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 3PM until the hour of the service at 4PM at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Immediately following the service David will be laid to rest in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Craig Barnett officiating. David was born on September 22, 1953 in Dublin, Ga. to the late Mr. James Morgan Brown Mrs. Louise Dover Brown. David was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed attending church with his family. He was affectionately known as PaKa to the light of life his grandbabies, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and working on many different projects. David was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Johnny Barkwell. He is survived by his loving wife, Vickie Gibbs Brown, daughter, Carrie Owens and her husband Jake, son, Jacob Gibbs Brown, grandchildren, Dover, Cooper, Libba and Lottie Grace, siblings, Peggy Thomas, Ray Brown, Lesia Hogan and Linda Shannon. Joanne H. Kirkland, age 90, formerly of Abbeville, passed into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, October 2, 2023. She had been a substitute teacher for the Lee County School System, and was a member of Siloam Baptist Church. A faithful servant, Joanne lived her life everyday pleasing to God. Joanne was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud "Grandma, and Great-Grandma", the matriarch of the family, providing guidance and unconditional love to everyone. Joanne was born January 2 1933, in Vienna, Georgia, to the late Ham Pate and Martha Ophelia Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Tilman Kirkland. Survivors include her sons: Tim (Michelle) Harris of Tifton, and Craig Kirkland (Hannah) of Moultrie; 5 grandchildren: Rusty Harris (Leigh), Jordan Harris (Taylor), Eric Kirkland (Abby), Brian Kirkland, and Brock Snyder (Haley); and 3 great-grandchildren: Townes Harris, Elliot Kirkland, and Autumn Snyder. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at 3:00 p. m. in Siloam Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Boney officiating. Interment will be in the Siloam Cemetery. Carolyn "Wacky" B. Stephens, age 82, of Rochelle, Georgia, passed away at her residence on Saturday, June 25, 2022. She was a life-long resident of Rochelle, born November 26, 1939, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Eugene William Stephens and Mildred Carolyn Brown Stephens. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Eugene William Stephens, Jr. , and her sisters, Elizabeth Welch and Brenda Stephens. Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Melinda Hackett; her son-in-law, Royce Hackett; her grandsons, William Hackett and Raymond Hackett; and four great-grandchildren. Carolyn was retired from the Wilcox County Department of Family and Children Services. She is a member of the Rochelle United Methodist Church, and enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially horse-back riding. She was an avid reader as anyone who ever saw her bookshelves can attest. Her life-long passion was art. She started drawing at an early age and became an accomplished, self-taught artist, working in oils and acrylics, painting the scenes of nature that she so loved. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 16th, at 11:00 a. m. in the Rochelle United Methodist Church, with Pastor Eric Sizemore officiating, and Tim Conner giving a eulogy. Herbert Ferrell DeBarry, age 86, of Rochelle, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of July 11, 2022. Mr. DeBarry was a resident of Northside Villa in Rochelle, Georgia. A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Mr. DeBarry was born on September 11, 1935, in the Patmos Community, in Baker County Georgia. He was the youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Duncan DeBarry. He is preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Ralph, and Frank DeBarry, and his two sisters, Elizabeth D. Morgan and Jane D. Jursik. Mr. DeBarry is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mr. DeBarry is predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, LaVerne Daniels DeBarry. He is survived by his step-daughter, Delaine Graham (Tommy) McDonald, and his step-son, James Hensley (Gail) Graham. He was known as Papa De to his four step-grandchildren; Lee McDonald of Rochelle, Lance (Cindy) McDonald of Rome, Renee Graham (Tom) Ingram of Dawson, and Heather Graham (Chris) Hood of Mableton. Papa De is survived by eight step-great-grandchildren; Conner McDonald, Lucas McDonald, Judge McDonald, Max McDonald, Hensley Ingram, Analyn Ingram, Graham Hood, and Marshall Hood. For 50 years Herbert was a faithful member of First Avenue Baptist Church where he served on the Board of Deacons, and for many years was the Music Director. One of Mr. DeBarry's greatest loves in life was music. He had a beautiful voice and greatly enjoyed singing. For a while he held the position of Music Director for the Little River Baptist Association. Also, he served as an Administrator for the Little River Association's Continuing Education Program. Mr. DeBarry was a former member of the Wilcox County Arts Council and was a past member of the Rochelle Lion's Club. Mr. DeBarry was retired from Robins Air Force Base after 34 years of civilian employment. He also served his country honorably in the U. S. Army from 1958-1962. Mr. DeBarry was quite knowledgeable on numerous subjects and had a remarkable memory. He could remember his life experiences from the very time, date, and year - never forgetting a detail. He was always eager to recall these happenings to all who listened. He had a story, a quote, and a strong opinion for every situation that might arise and he willing shared them. The family wishes to express their appreciation and gratitude to Northside Villa and Reflections Hospice for the expert and compassionate care given to Mr. DeBarry by these healthcare professionals. The family is every thankful to Ms. Patricia Singleton, who has been Mr. DeBarry's personal caregiver for more than four years. Ms. Sheneka Grace was a private caregiver to Mr. DeBarry during his final days. Joel Greene, age 31, of Guyton, Georgia (formerly of Rochelle), passed away Saturday, September 3, 2022, at his residence. He was an aircraft mechanic for Gulf Streams Corp. , and a Baptist by faith. Joel was born April 12, 1991, in Tifton GA. His father is Eddie Greene and his mother is Lynn Dale. He is also survived by his wife, Ashley Greene; his children, Bo, Charles Case, and Sawyer Greene; his sister, Ashley Howard (Buford); his niece and nephew, Haylyn and Keagan Howard; and his maternal grandmother, Barbara Gibbs. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 10th, at 10:00 a. m. in the Wilcox High School Gymnasium with Rev. Tim Moorhouse officiating. Mitch Cornell will provide music for the prelude and postlude. Pallbearers are James Gibbs, Scotty Gibbs, Scotty Lee Gibbs, Adam Gibbs, Jarred Cornell, Caleb Cornell, Tony Greene, and Anthony Greene. Honorary Pallbearers are John Studstill, Jared Brinson, Jose Rodriguez, Chris Smith, Josh Long, and Brandon Roberson. Interment will follow in the Morningside Cemetery.
