Carolyn N. Nelson (Martinsen) passed away January 28, 2024 at her home in Balsam Lake, WI after a five year battle with cancer. Carolyn was born June 13, 1941 at the family home in rural Luck, WI to Hans Louie and Nellie Martinsen. She grew up in Luck on the family farm. She graduated from Unity High School in 1959. After graduation she moved to the Twin Cities and began to work at Twin City Federal Bank. In January of 1960, Carolyn met her future husband Jimmy Nelson and they married on September 10, 1960. To this union 5 children were born. Carolyn is preceded in death her parents, her husband Jimmy Nelson, Grandson Jordan Kletschka, her brothers Robert & James, sisters, Donna Mae Hutton, Mary Ellen Fagnan and Norma Lundgren. Carolyn is survived by her 5 Children Tom (Denise) of Lewis, Tammy (Dale) Jensen of Luck, Todd (Mary) of Balsam Lake, Tristan (Scott) Divine of Balsam Lake and Toni (Ray) DeSpiegelaere of Centuria, 11 Grandchildren and 20 Great Grandchildren, a sister Linda Martinsen of Milltown, a sister-in-law Marilyn Martinsen of Luck and a brother-in-law Herbert Fagnan of New Richmond, a special friend Larry Fagnan and her 2 best friends Chris and Marlys along with many nieces and nephews. A private service is being planned at a later date for immediate family. Carolyn will be laid to rest at the Milltown Cemetery next to her husband Jimmy and her Grandson Jordan Kletschka

Theodore (Ted) Jon Hoehne, 63 of Balsam Lake, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully Monday, December 11, 2023, at Regions Hospital surrounded by family. Ted was born on February 29, 1960, in Amery, Wisconsin, the son of Ed and Anita Hoehne. Ted graduated from Unity High School. Ted was a loving and caring man. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with family and friends, and cruising around in his 68' Corvette. He was a master boat mechanic and loved what he did. He was a loving grandpa and dad and would do anything for his daughters. Ted leaves to celebrate his memory, his daughters, Morgan (Shane) Wilber and Tilynn Norlund, his grandchildren Bennett, Aria, Carter, and Tivaya, sisters, Beth (Rich) Lissick, Janice Hoehne (Tom Horst). Brothers, Robert Hoehne, and Charlie Hoehne (Jessica Summerfield), nieces Emily and Amanda, nephews Christopher, Andrew, and Chad, many cousins, and friends. Ted is preceded in death by his parents Ed and Anita Hoehne, brother Bill Hoehne, and his sisters Ann Hraychuck and Karen Barns. A celebration of Life for Ted will be held at Doc's Pub and Eatery in Balsam Lake on December 30th at 1 pm. In Lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. James Carlson

James "Jim" Carlson, 74 of Balsam Lake, passed away Saturday, November 26th, 2022, at his home surrounded by people who loved him, after fighting cancer for 6 years. He never complained and was always grateful. Jim was born on December 18, 1947, in Orange County, California. He grew up on the family farm just outside Taylors Falls, confirmed at First Evangelical Lutheran, and graduated from Taylors Falls High School in 1966. He enlisted in the U. S. Army and served in Viet Nam. When he returned, he attended St Paul Vo-Tech for Auto Body. A man with many talents, he worked in various professions until he started his own business, Fix-A-Dent. Jim had many interests. He loved hunting, fishing, boating, coin collecting, owning a race car, house restoration, making maple syrup and kettle corn, listening to 50s music, old western movies, riding his Harley, and his annual trips to Sturgis, proudly riding with Rolling Thunder, the annual Almelund Threshing show, camping with family and friends, wintering with Vicki in Texas and Arizona, desert rides in the Razor and ATF tractor weekends. He was especially proud of his time serving as Commander at VFW Post 6856. He was the best storyteller and loved telling them! Thanks to the VA Medical Center and Interim Hospice for all their care and support. Jim leaves to celebrate his memory: his wife, Vicki Hart, children, Jeremy (Linda) Carlson, Kimberly (Jamie) Benton, and Tim Hart (KarenSue), grandchildren, Jourdain Kinnander, Kristopher Chinander, Bree Kinnander (Aric), Michael Carlson, and Christopher Carlson, sister, Trudi (Jeffrey) Morse, brother, Jerry (Kate) Carlson, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other family and many friends.
