James Dolan Obituary

Rev. James W. Dolan, 73, of Butler, passed away Sunday morning, May 7, 2023, at his home. Fr. Dolan was born November 23, 1949 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Charles E. Dolan, Sr. and Jane (MacPherson) Dolan. Fr. Dolan was a graduate of Butler High School, received his Bachelor's Degree from Duquesne University, received his Master of Arts Degree from Mount Saint Mary in Emmitsburg, MD and received his Master of Education Degree from Duquesne University. Fr. Dolan was ordained on May 3, 1975 by Bishop Vincent M. Leonard at St. Paul Cathedral in Pittsburgh. He had many assignments with Diocese of Pittsburgh, which included being the Pastor of Saint Michael the Archangel Parish and St. Peter Parish, both in Butler. His last assignment was with St. Sebastian Parish in Pittsburgh, before retiring on January 1, 2020. Surviving is his brother, Charles "Bud" (Nancy) Dolan of Butler, and was a dear friend to many over the years. Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday and from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon on Friday at St. Conrad Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road in Meridian. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 12noon. Bishop David A. Zubik to officiate. Interment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in McMurray, PA.
