James Blake Davis, age 19 of Euharlee, GA entered into heaven on October 3, 2023. Blake was born on November 6, 2003, to JT and LeeShele Davis in Birmingham, Alabama. Blake was a lifelong member of The Church of God of The Union Assembly. He was a 2022 graduate of Woodland Highschool and was a member of the Bartow County Fire Department. He was known for being kind- hearted and giving the best bear hugs. His captivating smile was contagious to anyone who saw it. He loved to joke around and have fun, loved his friends, and never met a stranger. He was truly the "life of the party. " Blake was passionate about his family and friends, hunting, fishing, Georgia football, and enjoying lake life. Blake is survived by his parents, JT and LeeShele Davis; siblings, Jamie and Whitney Haygood and Eillaina Davis; niece, Kendall Haygood; nephew, Gabriel Haygood; grandparents, Dora Carter, Jim Davis and Mary Ann Goetz; aunts and uncles, Rodney and Sherry Kennedy, LeBron and Pam Miller, Paul and Leslie Carter, and April Davis. ; as well as numerous cousins, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Alton Carter and great- grandmother, Opal Jones. Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2023, beginning at 1pm with Celebration of Life at 4pm from the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Gentry and Rodney Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow at The Church of God of The Union Assembly. Henry Darrell Mez 3/07/1954 Henry Darrell Mez passed away on November 2, 2023, at his home in Euharlee, Georgia, at the age of 69. Born in Falls City, Nebraska, to Paul Mez and Vesta Cochran, he spent his early years on their family ranch, attending school in a one-room schoolhouse. When he was 10 years old, they sold their ranch and relocated to Blair, NE. After high school, Henry attended Ambassador College in Big Sandy, Texas, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Theology, worked in shipping and receiving, ran track, and minored in journalism and photography. While at Ambassador, he made friendships and memories that he cherished throughout his life. After college, he moved to Oklahoma for work and met his wife Rhonda. They were married 36 years. In 1990, they moved to Georgia to start their Aire-Master franchise, which they ran and operated with their brother-in-law, Richard Henderson, and years later, their son, Eric Mez. Henry was very active in his church, hosted many events, striving to bring people together. He was loved by many for being a fun-loving and giving person who cared deeply for his family and his friends. He loved God, the Sabbath and serving God’s people. Henry enjoyed basketball, arrowhead hunting, softball, playing music, sitting by the beach, running races and making jokes most of all. He was a family man and a servant of God. Henry is preceded in death by his father, Paul Mez. Henry is survived by his wife, Rhonda Mez; his mother, Vesta Cochran; his siblings, Elizabeth Henderson (Richard), Melinda Cole(Bob), and Paul(Skeets) Mez(Brenda); his sons, Keith VanAntwerp and Eric Mez; his daughters, Rachel Shallenberger and Rebekah Jones; and his nine grandchildren, Lily, Max, Madeleine, Penny, Charlie, Rayden, Violet, Sadie, and Rylee, whom he loved very much. A funeral service will be held for Henry at 2:00 p. m. on Friday, November 10, 2023, at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Our tears of joy and heartbreak flow freely in Euharlee as we hugged our precious Dorothy Ferguson a final farewell this side of heaven the evening of September 3, 2023, as she was welcomed into God’s great forevermore by her savior Jesus Christ and loved ones gone before her. Ms. Dot, as many know her, was a long-time resident of this close-knit community. Dot loved her Lord and was a devoted member of Euharlee Baptist Church since 1988, exemplifying the true meaning of Christian Faith in which she never wavered in spite of many storms of life she endured. Dorothy Carolyn Holcomb Ferguson was the second child and first daughter of seven children. She was born July 7th, 1941, in Clarkesville, GA to Raleigh and Dora Dotson Holcomb. Ms. Dot (Nana), though not as active as in earlier years, was a loyal and dedicated Servant of God, inspiring many, both young and not so young, as she walked her daily life before God and man. Dot blessed so many with a quick sense of humor and her inspiration and influence is evident thru testimonials of her impact on so many lives that was and remains changed today (truly a legacy that one may aspire to follow). She was preceded in death by parents, husband Charles Ferguson, daughters Cathy Mauldin and Kelly Ferguson as well as siblings Shelby White and Joe Holcomb. Left to cherish her memory is daughter in law Melissa Ferguson and son in law Jeff Mauldin both of Cartersville, GA. Sisters Frances Brock (Tom) Ranburne, AL, Margie Tatum (Charles) Turnerville, GA, Brothers Wayne Holcomb Hollywood, GA and Larry Holcomb Centre, AL, grandchildren Cody Mauldin (Jennifer), Chase Mauldin, Maya Adams and Lindsey (Tim) Cassell, great grandchildren Avery Mauldin, Anders Mauldin, Mack Mauldin, Layla Cassell and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Euharlee Baptist Church with Randy Postell, Tim Holcomb, and Greg Brock presiding. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers: Jacob Knight, Jerome Black, BJ Jones, Robert Sellers, Mark Coleman and Jimmy Head. The family will receive visitors at Euharlee Baptist Church from 12:00 pm until the funeral hour at 2:00 pm. Burial will be in Euharlee Baptist church cemetery. Helen Grace Eaton Nelson, 96 of Euharlee, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 22, 2023. Born on September 9, 1926, in Madison, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late John and Maude Rhodes Eaton. Helen is also preceded in death by her husband, Milton Nelson; great grandchildren, Daley Nelson Moore and Sawyer Raines; and brother, J. W. Eaton. Helen is survived by her children, Joan (Jake) Cochran and Danny (Marsha) Smith; grandchildren, Kathy (Dennis Buchan) Moore, Jason (Connie) Arp, Allison (Jim) Raines, Bethany (Mike) Weightman, Tori (Cary Morris) Owen, Todd Cochran, and Natalie Cochran; nineteen great grandchildren; and three great, great grandchildren. Helen graduated from Douglasville High School in 1945. She married Milton Nelson on November 24, 1946. They owned Nelson's Grocery in Euharlee, Ga. for many years. Helen retired from Union Carbide. She was a member of Euharlee Baptist Church. Helen was known to be a true prayer warrior. She enjoyed sewing clothes for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved gardening and baking. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p. m. on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Euharlee Baptist Church with Reverend Keith Willard officiating. Visitation for Helen will be held prior to the service from 12:00 p. m. to 1:00 p. m. at Euharlee Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Euharlee Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Euharlee, Georgia. Lorraine Scafetta Schoemaker- "Ms. Hollywood" 76, of Euharlee Georgia passed away on January 7, 2021. Ms. Schoemaker was born on August 23, 1944 in Brooklyn, NY to Michael Peter Scafetta and Mildred Carmella Scafetta. In 1959 the family settled in Miami,FL where she graduated from Miami Norland Senior High School in Miami Gardens. She was married to Robert Schoemaker in 1965, who preceded her in death, and they welcomed their only daughter, Michele Schoemaker Bedford to the world in 1966. After raising herdaughter in Hollywood, FL, Lorraine worked at Jerry's Pizza in Boca Raton and Tony's Pizza in Miami, both family-owned businesses. She moved to the Cartersville area where her career expanded from working with Taylor Construction to administration of M & D Gutters and Siding, the family business, owned by her daughter and Son-In-Law, Dennis Bedford. Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Michele Schoemaker Bedford (Dennis); grandsons, Kirk Nicholas Stelter (Audrey) and Erick Loren Bedford; great grand children, Alexis Carmella Stelter and Robert Clarence Stelter and longtime partner Frank Moreno; cousins, nieces and nephews: Tony and Dawn Cutaro, Jerry and June Cutaro, Frankie and Lori Fager, Betty Euliano, Carol Scafetta Barlett, and Wade Schoemaker Rogers. Lorraine served as foster mom and mentor to many people in her lifetime, including Janice S. Rinaldo, Joyce Ebbighausen, Danielle Bartlett, Tonya Williams, Deanna Bedford Spires, Tammy Jones, Mishealle Williams, Vicki Gutlerrez, Michelle Saavedra, TawneyHuspeth, Zakir Bennett, and her Team National family. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, January 14 from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
