James Edward Darsey, 60, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2023 at home. A native and lifelong resident of Jesup, James was born on December 9, 1962 to the late, Lee Edward and Mae Nettles Darsey. He worked as a maintenance man for most of his life and was a member of Midway Baptist Church. In his spare time, James enjoyed gardening, taking care of his chickens and spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, his brother Johnny Darsey and his sister, Lucy Mae Darsey, also preceded him in death. Survivors include his brother Bennie Darsey and wife, Pat of Jesup; nieces and nephews, Kim Dixon and husband, Mike, Joe Thompson and wife, Cindy, Clyde Thompson and Gordon Brooker and wife, Glenda. A host of extended family members also survive. Memorial services will be private.

Mary Ann Thomasson Jordan, 90, of Jesup, Ga. died Saturday, November 25, 2023. The York County, SC native graduated from York High School magna cum laude in 1951. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and the Ladies' Sunday School Class and choir, the Episcopal Churchwomen, serving as secretary for 5 years. She served as clerk to the vestry of St. Paul's for six years and was elected for an additional 3 years. After graduation from high school, she entered nursing school at the Medical University of South Carolina and graduated valedictorian of her nursing class. While working at the VA Hospital in NC, she took a course in art which initiated her interest in painting and that turned out to be a lifelong passion. A number of her paintings are hung in homes of people in Jesup and as far away as California and New York. The rest of her career was at Wayne Memorial Hospital for nearly 40 years mainly in the surgical recovery room and her most loved intensive care unit. She continued her art work and was involved in playing tennis and bridge and was an active member of the Wayne County DAR. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Jordan; brothers, Joseph, Ray, Daniel, Donald, Nelson and David Thomasson; sisters, Margaret Thomasson and Jean Thomasson Ginter. Survivors are her daughter, Angela Jordan O'Connor and her long time companion, Thomas Wright of Crestview, FL; sister, Rachel Thomasson Yamada of Calfornia; niece, Lydia (Dade) Brantley of Brunswick ,GA; nephew, Ben (Carolyn) Jordan of Martinez, GA. ; numerous other nieces and nephews and extended family throughout the country. A celebration of her life will be 10 AM Saturday, December 2, 2023 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with Father Nathan Wilson and Rev. Steve Larson officiating. Interment will follow in the church columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 745 S. Palm Street, Jesup, GA 31546. Lynn Walkington Bennett, age 66, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. She was born on August 20, 1957 in Seattle, Washington, the daughter of William and Martha (Feiler) Walkington, both deceased. Lynn grew up in Madison, Wisconsin and graduated from East High School. She moved to Florida in her 20's (not being a fan of cold weather) and received her Bachelor's degree from University of Central Florida. She enjoyed her job as a librarian at the Melbourne Library especially doing programs for the children. On August 17, 1985, she married Clayton Bennett. They had one son, Brian. Brian gave her two beautiful grandchildren, William and Leia. They were the joy of her life and she loved them dearly! She went on many cruises as well as land trips and enjoyed the family road trips to visit her Grandma Walkington in Idaho. She enjoyed exploring the many places of interest she visited. She even went to England to look up her Walkington kin and was able to visit with them. She was very generous with her time and did a lot of volunteering, especially working in the Hurricane Evacuation Shelters. She was active in supporting the National Guard families during Desert Storm and Operation Iraq Freedom. She also did volunteer work for the library. She was a loving caring wife, mother, daughter and sister. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Clayton and her son, Brian (Alicia) of Blythewood, South Carolina and Brian's children, William and Leia, her stepmother, Patricia Walkington of McFarland, Wisconsin and her brothers, Michael of McFarland, WI and David (Sandy) Walkington of Dallas, Texas, and David's children, Melody of McFarland, Wisconsin and Angela of Dallas, Texas and her aunts, Katherine (Bob) Wise of Merritt Island, Florida and Sheila Voss of Madison, Wisconsin. A visitation will be held at Central Baptist Church, 2503 Country Club Road, Melbourne, Florida on November 11, 2023 from 9:30 a. m. to 10:30 a. m. at which time there will be a Celebration of Life at the church. John Wayne "Floodlight" Floyd, age 72, entered the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on Friday, November 10th, after a brief illness, under the care of Community Hospice of Vidalia. Born in Dublin, GA, he lived most of his life in Wayne County, graduating from Wayne County High School in 1970. He was a Pipefitter by trade and started his career at Rayonier. His passion for traveling led to many adventures and careers throughout his life. He proudly served his country in the National Guard for many years. He was an avid golfer, tennis player and card player. His love for tennis led him to being a tennis instructor for many years. While he enjoyed watching all sports, he reserved his Saturdays for cheering on his Georgia Bulldogs. His charisma and love of joke telling could light up any room he was in. His most favorite past-time was spending time with his family. He is preceded by his parents James Franklin Floyd, Sr and Wilhelmena Greenway Floyd, and his brother, James Franklin Floyd, Jr. Wayne is survived by his beloved wife, Tracy Brooks Floyd of Uvalda; daughter Jennifer (Scott) Hardenbrook of Jesup; two sons, Jimmy Floyd of Jesup, Joseph (Michelle) Floyd of Gainesville, FL; two step-daughters, Kelly Carraway of Mt. Vernon and Lacy (Resse) Jackson of Galveston, TX. Five grandchildren, Ciara Eads, Chase and Joseph Floyd, Jr, Madilyn (Christian) Lambert, MacKenzeigh Hardenbrook; 4 step-grandchildren, Gracelyn Carraway, Kyle, Hannah and Brooke Jackson. A sister-in-law, Deanna Dowdy Floyd and several nieces and nephews. A special, chosen family, Virginia, Lillie and Alexia Slone. Bonnie Fay Collipp, 87, of Jesup, Ga. died Tuesday, November 21, 2023. The Pennsylvania native had lived in Wayne County the past 37 years. Bonnie who loved her Lord and Savior was a member of Jesup Presbyterian Church, a Sunday School teacher, choir member and also served as an Elder and Deacon and enjoyed working with the youth. In her working life, she was a Registered Nurse working with her husband's pediatric practice in Jesup. Formerly, she was a Hospice Supervisor in Suffolk County, Long Island for 50 employees. She enjoyed hobbies and sports such as tennis with her husband and family. She served as a Cub Scout Den Mother and PTA president but the highlight of her life was helping to develop a Christian program for teenage children off the coast of Maine. She also served as a member of the Republican National Committee, the Presidential Advisory Board and was a certified Water Safety Instructor and enjoyed teaching children to swim. Survivors are her husband of 68 years, Jack Collipp of Jesup; 3 sons, Dan (Kristi) Collipp of Jesup, Tom (Olga) Collipp of Chalfont, PA; David (Suzanne) Collipp of Pearl, Mississippi; siblings that survive of the 18 total from the same parents are a sister, Anna Wilson; brothers, Sam, Ted and Mike Lau; 9 grandchildren, Rebekah, Peter, Naomi, Chloe, Annie, Lydia, Leah, Isabella, and Sam; 3 great grandchildren, Hannah, Phillip, and Penny. SFC Daniel Edward Bisdorf, 76, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family. A resident of Folkston for the past ten years, Daniel was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on August 22, 1947 to the late, Leo George and Virginia Powell Bisdorf. He spent his formative years in Pensacola, Florida and later joined the United States Army where he proudly served his country for over twenty years in numerous different appointments including service in the Vietnam Conflict. He received many awards and medals for his distinguished service including the Army Service Ribbon, the Army Achievement Medal, and the Army Good Conduct Medal. After retirement, Daniel lived in Hinesville and Jesup before relocating to Folkston in 2013. In his spare time, Daniel loved hunting ,fishing, traveling and he especially loved riding motorcycles with his friends. In addition to his parents, his first wife, Linda Bisdorf; infant brother, Robert Davis; brothers, Barry Bisdorf and David Davis and grandson, Ezekiel Hurley, all preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of twelve years, Annie Bisdorf of Folkston; three stepchildren, Jessica Hurley of Jesup, David Corbitt of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and Melissa Hickman of Blackshear; grandchildren, April, Wesley, J. J. , Wayne, Marie, Willow, Beau and Freyja; one step grandchild, Nevah; sisters, Lisa DeLuca and Carla Black and brother, William Bisdorf. His best friends, Rodger DeWitt, Rosie and J. C. Payne and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive. Graveside services were held at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery with full military honors.
