James "Jimmy" Michael Christy, 56, of West Frankfort, Illinois, passed away Wednesday April 24, 2019 in Integrity Healthcare - Marion, Illinois at 11:45p.m. Jimmy was born July 3, 1962 in Benton, Illinois, the son of the late James "Jim" and Phyllis (Karpan) Christy. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include a brother, Larry Christy; two sisters and their spouses, Cheri and Herman Whitehead, Janet and Don Ward; six nieces and nephews and their spouses: Chad Meadows, Kyle Meadows, April and Derek Pennington, Matthew Christy, Mindy Young-Lawson and Ryan Lawson; nine great-nieces and nephews: Chad Alan Meadows II, Alonna Meadows, Hailey Curtis, Dylan Meadows, Zachary Pennington, Jordan Pennington, Andrea Ethington, Gloria Christy, and Levi James Christy. Jimmy worked for several years for a newspaper in Carbondale. He liked reading and studying about the weather in his spare time. Funeral services will be held at 2:00p.m. on Sunday April 28, 2019 in Union Funeral Home - West Frankfort, Illinois with Brother Mike Cash officiating. Burial will be in the Denning Cemetery on the Orient Road. In celebration of his life, visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00p.m. prior to the service.
