James "Jim" Matthew Ankrom, 53, formerly of Mishawaka, IN passed away September 30, 2023, in Wilmer, AL. Jim was born to the late Ralph and Margaret O'Neal Ankrom, on August 1, 1970, in South Bend, IN. He married Cheryl Smothers Ankrom on July 3, 2010, in Mobile, AL. Jim loved his family more than anything. His children were the light of his life. He was an amazing husband, father and brother. He loved to spend time with his kids and teach them whatever he could. Jim would take Maggie to Jimmy John's and they would each order a #9. He was teaching Little Jim how to be independent in any way he could. Jim loved time spent with family and friends. He was known to play a prank or two on people, but was always there to lend a helping hand. Jim knew the Lord as his personal Savior and we know he is with the Lord today celebrating. He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother, Andrew Ankrom. Jim is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Cheryl Ankrom and their twin children, Jim and Maggie Ankrom; his step-daughter Josie (Gabriel) Gunn; a granddaughter, Sadie Gunn. A brother, Michael (Tonya) Ankrom; sisters, Amy (Matt) Naikelis and Kim (Ron) Banicki); nieces and nephews, Emilee (Logan) Gilvin, Alison Ankrom, Philip Ankrom, Skilar Ankrom, Sam Naikelis, Gus Naikelis, Archie Naikelis, Matt Banicki and Alicia Banicki; his mother-in-law, Della Smothers; sister-in-law, Margaret Martin and her children Pete and James Thompson. Jim is also, survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that he counted as family. Visitation for Jim will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 from 11:00 a. m. to 1:00 p. m. at Radney Funeral Home - Mobile. Funeral Service will be celebrated in the chapel of Radney Funeral Home at 1:00 p. m. James "Jim" Lutz Obituary James Anthony Lutz, age 57, known lovingly as Jim to his friends and family, passed away on November 28, 2023, in Mishawaka, Indiana after a long battle with Cancer. Born on July 31, 1966, in the town of Ellsworth, Maine, Jim's vibrant spirit and warm heart touched many throughout his wonderful life. Jim was a Navy Veteran and the proud owner of a successful transport company where he combined his love for travel and work, transporting RVs across the United States and Canada. A true fan at heart, Jim never missed a game when it came to his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers, showcasing his unwavering support with the same zest he approached all aspects of life. He nursed a particular fondness for German beer steins, a symbol of his appreciation for the finer details and history attached to them. Jim's legacy continues through his devoted wife, Lisa Lutz of Elkhart, and his loving sons, Kyle (Kyra) Lutz of South Bend and Aaron (Kayla) Lutz of Middlepoint, Ohio. His life's joys were multiplied by his nine grandchildren, who will carry forward his kind spirit. Jim is survived by his mother Carol Martinez, brothers George (Vicki) and Jon (Victoria) Lutz, stepchildren Matthew (Cheyann) Beal, Joshua (Amy) Atwood, stepmother Sue Lutz, stepsiblings Lisa Heffelfinger, Mary Holloway, and Daniel Heffelfinger. Preceded in death by his father George Lutz, Jim's memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of all who knew him. Charles Raymond "Fuzz" Baker, 94, of Etna Green, IN passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center of Mishawaka, IN. Charles was born to Ray Russel and Zelda Gayle (Yazel) Baker on April 8, 1929 in Etna Green, IN. He graduated from Etna Green High School in 1947. He married Helen J. Kuhn on May 13, 1950 and she preceded him in death on March 10, 2003. He was a member of the Etna Green Church of Christ and a former member of the Lion's Club. He was a painter and wallpaper installer. He enjoyed playing piano and organ for the Etna Green Church of Christ for over 50 years, and playing cards, especially euchre and bridge. Fuzz will be missed by his daughter, Tammy (Bruce) Tutorow of Etna Green, IN; his sons: Garry Baker of Etna Green, IN; Barry (Laura) Baker of Etna Green, IN; Jan (Jane) Baker of South Bend, IN; his 7 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Fuzz is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen; his sister Betty Davis; and his brothers: Richard Baker; and Donald Baker. Levi T. Sulentic, 32, of Mishawaka, IN passed away suddenly at home on November 25, 2023. Levi was born on January 11, 1991, in South Bend, IN to Thomas and Sherry (Hulett) Sulentic. He is survived by his parents including Paula Sulentic and Alvin Higbee; children, Jason James Sulentic and Mary Faye Sulentic; brothers, Bradley (Jody) Buck and Taylor Bartell; sisters, April McCormick (Ryan), Cheyenne Higbee, Cierra Higbee, Savannah Higbee and Shealyn Higbee; cousins, Steve Sulentic Jr, David Sulentic Jr and Desiree Sulentic; aunts and uncles, Craig (Ramona) Sulentic, Dave (Theresa) Sulentic, Donna Sulentic and Andy (Cathy) Hess. Levi was a member of Christ the King Church. After graduating from Penn High School in 2010, Levi joined an apprenticeship for the painters union. He was an accomplished union painter at Ziolkowski Construction for Local 1118 located in South Bend. He was a proud and devoted father. His children brought him the most joy. As for hobbies, he enjoyed anything nature related and getting together with friends to shoot darts. He had a contagious smile and a willingness to help others. There are no words to describe how much he will be missed! He was love and light. Virginia L. Paulson, 92, of Niles, formerly of Elkhart, died at the Ernestine Raclin House at the Center for Hospice Care in Mishawaka on Monday, November 27, 2023. Virginia was born in Middlebury on July 16, 1931, to the late Olin and Esther (Elder) Schrock. Also preceding her in death are a son, Timothy Paulson, a grandson, Luke Paulson and a sister, Margaret Shoup. As Virginia Schrock, she married Albert "Bert" Paulson on March 14, 1951. Bert died on September 17, 2012. Surviving is a son, Rick (Shirley) Paulson of Niles; four grandchildren: Jason (Sara) Paulson, David Paulson, Tracy (Brian) Campbell and Courtney (Chris) Paulson-Hunter; seven great grandchildren; Cameron and Garrett Paulson, Caleb and Braden Campbell, Thomas and Gabrielle Billheimer and Ruby Hunter. Virginia was formerly employed by Johnson & Davidson Distributing as a corporate officer for 25 years prior to her retirement. She and her late husband were charter members of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer where she was very active. She was involved for many years with the Blanketeers, where ladies of the church made and donated children's blankets for local charities. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time in Canada. Memorial services for Virginia will be held at a later date. Lois Y. Gherardi, 83, of Mishawaka, Indiana passed peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, November 25, 2023. She was born in Evergreen Park, IL on July 10, 1940, to the late Primo and Minerva "Minnie" (Olenti) Gherardi. Surviving are her two children, John Jay (Catherine) McVay and Heath (Michelle) McVay, both of LaPorte, seven grandchildren, siblings, Leonard (Rose Ellen) Gherardi of Mishawaka and Loretta Vannoni of Carmel, and four nieces and one nephew. Lois was an entrepreneur at heart, after graduating from LaPorte High School, she attended College of Commerce and received her Associates in bookkeeping. After college, Lois bought a small shop, where she owned and operated Gherardi Frame and Design for over 45 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling and sailing along the coast of Lake Michigan and proudly serving as a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Lois was known for her authentic Italian meals around the holidays and sharing sweet memories with her children and grandchildren. A time to visit with family is scheduled for Saturday, December 2, 2023, from 3-5 pm at Wells and Cruz Family Funeral Home, Mishawaka. A funeral service will follow at 5pm, and cremation will take place with burial to follow at a later date. Ceber Simpson Obituary Ceber Thomas Simpson, 73, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2023, in Mishawaka with family by his side. He fought a short but courageous battle with cancer. Ceber was born on September 23, 1950, in Terre Haute, IN as the only child to the late Virgil Orris and Bernadine (Howard) Simpson. He is survived by his wife Tamara Ciszczon of Granger, IN, son Ian (Michaela) of Root, Switzerland, his stepchildren, Tara Ciszczon of Mishawaka, IN and Thomas (Claire Kubiesa) Ciszczon of Elmhurst, IL, and their children. Ceber's ex-wife Jo Ann (Kosier) Simpson of Winterset, Iowa also survives. At the age of 3, Ceber moved with his parents to Kent, Washington where he grew up and attended Kent-Meridian High School. While at school, he played violin in the Kent-Meridian High School Orchestra and graduated as president of the National Honor Society. He was voted "Most Intellectual" by his high school colleagues, and his Math Department teachers selected him as the Top Mathematics student of his graduating class. After graduation, he returned to Indiana to attend Purdue University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in physics in 1972. He went on to receive a master's degree in 1974 in solid state physics and later in 1980 completed his doctorate in experimental physics with a specialty in photonics. During his time at Purdue University, Ceber was an active member of Triangle Fraternity where he served as Treasurer. While at Purdue, Ceber met Jo Ann Kosier and they were married on February 4, 1978, in Lafayette, IN. Their son Ian was born on October 21, 1980. From 1980 to 2001, Ceber was employed at Naval Avionics Center in Indianapolis as a physicist and electrical engineer. In 2001, he moved from Indianapolis to Bedford and later to Bloomington, IN where he worked for the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division until his retirement in 2015. During his professional career, Ceber was recognized for his work from Indiana Governor Robert Orr and was also awarded a patent covering methods of mapping the temperature distribution of a planar electronic device on infrared thermal imaging and micro-raman spectroscopy in 2014. Ceber married Tamara Ciszczon on May 9, 2008, in South Bend, Indiana. They split their time between Granger and Bloomington. He recently joined the Edwardsburg Conservation Club. Ceber was known for his quick wit and sense of humor. He could make you laugh at the drop of a dime. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Palmer Funeral Home, Bubb Chapel in Mishawaka and Flanner-Buchanan Funeral Home in Indianapolis. A viewing will be held at Palmer Funeral Home, Bubb Chapel, on Wednesday, November 29th from 4 pm - 8 pm. Sandy L. Barnard, 62, of Mishawaka, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2023. Sandy was born to the late Wayne Middleton Sr. and Mary (DeBaillie) McKeon on December 16, 1960, in Pheonix, AZ. She was raised in the Michiana area by her mother and beloved stepfather William "Bill" McKeon. She worked in many places over the years but loved and was well known for her time working at bingo halls in the Michiana area over the years. Sandy married the love of her life, Gary Barnard, who survives. She is also survived by her daughter, Ashley (Rickey) Sutton; sons, Jeremy Barnard and Michael McCray Jr. ; grandchildren, Haley Sutton, Noah Sutton, Caleb Sutton, Hunter Barnard, Emma Barnard, June Barnard, Shaelyn McCray and Sydnee McCray; siblings, Steve Middleton and Sarah Echeverria as well as many friends. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Linda Scott and Wayne Middleton. Sandy enjoyed her time working in all capacities for the bingo halls, especially Rainbow Bingo Hall and Celebrations. She also liked to spend time in her backyard watching the animals at her feeders and enjoying nature. More than anything Sandy loved her grandchildren and spending time with them.
