Jamie Howey, age 95, died peacefully in her sleep October 5, 2023 at Crest Haven Nursing Home where she received excellent and compassionate care from many special caregivers. Jamie was a long time resident of Villas, NJ. She and her husband, Marshall were owners of Howey's Nursery, Lawn and Garden Center for twenty years. Jamie was a member of Cape Island Baptist Church. She was loved by and loved her family and friends. Jamie was an example of grace and charm who always made her family and friends feel they were special. Jamie was born and raised in Troutman, NC. As a young adult she moved to New Bern, NC to live with her sister where she met and married her husband of 75 years, Marshall Howey, a career U S Marine. After his retirement from the Marine Corps they moved to the Villas. Jamie is survived by her husband, Marshall Howey; daughters Paula (Randy) Bakley of Fishing Creek, NJ and Marcia (Ron) Stanley of Waynesboro, MS. Granddaughters Melissa Bakley, Michelle McCarragher, Yong LeRay, Heather Roemhild; great grandchildren Alex, Logan and Danielle; sister, Coleen Fox of Willmington, DE and special long time friend, Bonnie Mulligan. Burial will be private at the Veterans Cemetery in Cape May Court House.

Villas, NJ resident, Salvador A. Riggi Jr. , 65, was released from the ravages of Parkinson's Disease on November 7, 2023, at Cape Regional Medical Center. Sal was born in Jersey City, NJ on October 8, 1958 to Salvador Sr. and Anna (nee Donato), who were both World War II veterans. He was fascinated by stars and rocks since childhood. This carried on throughout his life. He graduated from Jersey State College in 1980 with a B. A. in Geosciences, then he proceeded to graduate from Wright State University in Ohio with an MS in Geology. He continued to be an adjunct Professor at Jersey City State College and Atlantic Cape Community College. He held a U. S. patent on innovative technology for remediation of heavy metals in soils. Sal was a fourth degree knight with the Monsignor Moorney Assembly 671 of Wildwood, New Jersey and third degree knight with St. John Neuman Council 3546 of Villas, New Jersey. He was also a devout catholic, serving in multiple church functions with St. John of God Church. From 2009-2011, he served as Executive Director of Friends of Cape May Jazz, LLC. Sal could be found gazing at the night sky with his various telescopes. His favorite quote was from Albert Einstein, "God does not play dice with the universe. " He is survived by his sisters: Andrea Noto of Villas and Donna Marie Riggi of Glen Gardner, NJ; his God mother, Anna DeAngelo of Raleigh, N. C. as well as cousins and many people who called him "Uncle". A mass of Christian burial is scheduled for Monday, November 13, 2023, with a viewing beginning at 10:00am, at St. John of God R. C. Church, parish of St. John Neuman, in North Cape May, followed by the mass at 11:00am. His internment will be private. Matthew Pinto, 77, Cape May, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, November 1 at Pelican Pointe North Cape May where he had been a guest for seven months. Born February 21, 1946 in Newark NJ, he was the son of the late Frank and Caroline (Dalbo) Pinto. Matt retired after 32 years of working as the Superintendent of Public Works for Pequannock Township in Pompton Plains NJ. He proudly retired with never missing a day of work. When he was younger, he bowled in many different leagues, was a collector of Corvettes and was a fire marshal for the Pompton Plains Fire Co. #1. Prior to his illness, he enjoyed golfing and spending his days on the beach either taking in the sights, watching the sandpipers scurry about or just relaxing and taking a nap. He found great pride in caring for his backyard pond which was filled with many beautiful Koi. He had a love of music, especially DooWoop which would still make him smile no matter when he heard it. Matt will forever be missed by the love of his life Carole (Finkle) whom he married June 30, 1974. He and Carole would have two daughters Nicole and Melissa. The Pinto family grew when Nicole married Michael Rudge and Melissa met Mat Fichot. The greatest gift Matt received was his granddaughter Payton. She would become the apple of his eye. He will also be missed by his sister Carol Alazio and her husband Bart; nephew Bart Jr. and niece Tara; and many dear friends. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, November 6 from 10AM until 12PM at Scanlan Funeral Home 781 Newark Pompton Turnpike Pompton Plains NJ 07444.
