Mrs. Jackie D. (Graham) Henicle, 94, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2023 in her home. Born March 31, 1929 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Addison C. Graham and Stella Marie (Wise) Lohman. Mrs. Henicle was a graduate of Waynesboro High School with the Class of 1947. She and her husband, the late Mr. Charles Alvin Henicle, were married on January 9, 1949. Mr. Henicle passed away December 30, 2010. From 1948 until 1977, she owned and operated Henicle's Markets with her husband. They had five locations and also operated a wholesale produce business. Following their retirement, she and her husband enjoyed spending the winter months at their home in Green Valley, Arizona for 30 years. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Waynesboro, Waynesboro Country Club, Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary, Friends of the Library at Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library, Waynesboro and was a charter member of the Desert Hills Golf Club, Green Valley, AZ. Mrs. Henicle was an avid golfer - including being Ladies Champion at the Waynesboro Country Club in 1994, Presidents Club Champion 5 times and scoring a hole in one on #10 at the club. She also enjoyed playing bridge. She is survived by two children, Glenn Henicle and his wife, Susie of Stuart, FL and Debi Duffey and her husband, Greg of Waynesboro; two grandchildren, Amanda (Duffey) Hajel and her husband, Doug of Hagerstown, MD and Jackie Sullivan and her husband, Mike of Hagerstown, MD; six great-grandchildren, Ella Hajel, Lily Hajel, Charlee Hajel, Flynn Sullivan, Briar Sullivan and Luna Sullivan; and several nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Henicle was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Black and her husband, Maxwell; and one brother, Charles Graham and his wife, Bobbie. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P. M. , Saturday, September 9, 2023 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 South Broad St. Waynesboro with the Rev. Dr. A. Robert Cook officiating. Burial will be private in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro. The family will receive friends from 12:00 P. M. until 2:00 P. M. , Saturday afternoon, in the funeral home. Mrs. Rhoda S. (Sipes) Niedentohl, 85, of Waynesboro, PA passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023, in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born November 21, 1938 in McConnellsburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late George M. and Martha J. (Cutshall) Sipes. Mrs. Niedentohl was a graduate of Greencastle Antrim Senior High School with the Class of 1956. She and her husband, the late Lee W. Niedentohl, were married June 18, 1960, in Waynesboro. Mr. Niedentohl passed away November 13, 2014. In early years, Mrs. Niedentohl was employed for several local businesses including, GAF, Frick Company and Landis Tool Company. She later was employed for Keystone Fruit Market in Greencastle for 17 years. Beginning in 2008, she worked in medical transcription and billing at Dr. Dagen's office in Waynesboro, until her retirement. She was a member of Macedonia United Brethren Church, Greencastle. Mrs. Niedentohl enjoyed reading, her beloved animals, working on her computer and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by two daughters, Kelly M. Carr of Waynesboro and Laura L. Minteer (Joseph) of Mechanicsburg; and two granddaughters, Anna Katherine Minteer and Amanda Paige Minteer. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Scott W. Niedentohl; and one sister, Mary Lou Statler. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Mr. Robert "Bob" W. Coyne, 62, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 1, 2023. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, friend, dog dad, engineer, pilot, mechanic, carpenter, and patriot. He was a blessing to his family and never disappointed them. He was so full of love. Born June 3, 1961 in Philadelphia, PA, he is the son of Virginia (Costa) Coyne of Langhorne, PA, and the late Robert W. Coyne, Sr. Bob graduated from Neshaminy High School, Bucks County, PA, with the class of 1979. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Science and A&P License, from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, graduating in 1986. He also earned his pilot's license while at the university, an accomplishment that made him proud. He remained in the field of aviation, having been most recently employed as a Senior Aerospace Systems Engineer with Lockheed Martin/Leidos Innovations. Bob and Theresa "Terri" L. (Dukes) Coyne married on November 3, 2001 in Waynesboro, after many years of friendship and love. Bob was a diehard Eagles fan and loved a good Flyers and Phillies game. When he wasn't watching a game he enjoyed woodworking, watching old movies, hunting in upstate PA, attending Otterbein Church, going to Waynesboro Fish and Game Assoc. , and spending time with his cherished grandkids (or "mudwhompers," as he lovingly called them). He was incredibly patriotic and had the utmost respect for those who served. He was always the life of the party; his jovial demeanor and contagious laugh, which often followed one of his notorious "Dad jokes," made him an easy man to love! He was known for his bear hugs, which made you feel his love all the way down to your toes. In addition to his mother and his wife, he is survived by six children: Elizabeth Malone, Stacie Malone, Jake Seymour, Kelly May, Alexis Coyne, and Andrew Coyne; six grandchildren: Olivia Miller, Noah Miller, Bryson Miller, Rylan Miller, Weston Seymour, and Isaac May; two sisters: Virginia DiBona (Ed DiBona), and Tamara Barbet (Ken Barbet); and many beloved nieces and nephews. Ms. Cinda K. (Pepple) "Cindy" Smith, 67, of Waynesboro, PA passed away Thursday, November 30, 2023, in the Waynesboro Hospital. Born February 20, 1956 in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late Donald Pepple and Margaret Louise (Tosten) Stephens. Cindy graduated from Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the Class of 1974. She was a life member of Joe Stickell American Legion Post #15, William Max McLaughlin V. F. W. Post #695, Loyal Order of the Moose #1191 and the former F. O. E. #1758, all of Waynesboro. Cindy enjoyed playing bingo on her phone, signing the books at the clubs, going out to eat - especially for seafood, spending time on the Potomac River and at Cowens Gap and watching over the neighborhood kids. She is survived by three children, Travis Manahan (Beth), Candida Estrada and Charles Manahan, all of Waynesboro; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Donna Pepple and Teresa Benedict, both of Waynesboro; two brothers, Donald Pepple, Jr. of South Mountain and George Pepple of Greencastle, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. John O. Freeman, 88, formerly of Cascade, MD, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2023 in Laurel Lakes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg, PA. Born April 26, 1935 in Quincy, PA, he was the son of the late Clarence and Grace (Monn) Freeman. He lived his early life in the Quincy area. Mr. Freeman served with the 101st Airborne where he was stationed in France for 2 1/2 years. He and his wife, the late Doris I. "Punkey" (Emory) Freeman, were married November 7, 1958 in Smithsburg, MD. Mrs. Freeman passed away August 31, 2007. Mr. Freeman was employed as a carpenter at Camp Louise in Blue Ridge Summit for 46 years. He was a member of Germantown Bethel Church of God and Cascade American Legion Post #239. Mr. Freeman enjoyed woodworking, splitting wood and carpentry. He is survived by one son, John O. Freeman, Jr. of Waynesboro; five grandchildren including grandson, Jason A. Freeman of Pen Mar, MD whom he raised; several great-grandchildren; one sister, Kathryn "Kitty" Kershner of Upton, PA; foster siblings, Anna Carbaugh, Lona Bumbaugh, Mary Misner, Marguerite Welsh, Carol "Sonny" Freeman and Wanda Staley; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by foster parents, Bertus and Goldie Freeman; his daughter, Cindy M. Mrs. Jean M. (Peters) Sweeney, 85, a resident of Quincy Village and formerly of Waynesboro, PA, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, November 28, 2023, in the nursing home. Born April 22, 1938 in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Arthur O. and Pauline C. (Funk) Peters. Mrs. Sweeney graduated from St. Joseph's High School, Emmitsburg, MD, with the Class of 1956. She and her husband, the late Robert R. "Bob" Sweeney, were married on August 12, 1970, in Hagerstown, MD. Mr. Sweeney died on October 2, 2021. Mrs. Sweeney worked at Frick Company, Waynesboro from 1956 until 1970 and at Fort Ritchie, Cascade, MD from 1974 until 1985. She attended church services at Quincy Village, St. Andrew Catholic Church and St. Rita's Catholic Church, Blue Ridge Summit, PA. She was also a member of William Max McLaughlin VFW Post #695 Ladies Auxiliary and Joe Stickell American Legion Post #15 Ladies Auxiliary, both of Waynesboro. Mrs. Sweeney was a faithful volunteer at Quincy United Methodist Home, including Minnich Manor. She also enjoyed reading, movies, attending church and spending time with her family. She is survived by one step-daughter, Deborah K. Sweeney of Chambersburg, PA; two step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Martha L. Doucha of Waynesboro, Miriam A. Ford of Loveland, CO and Anne C. Wood of Roanoke, VA; two brothers, Michael O. Peters of Santa Rosa, CA and John C. Peters of Gilroy, CA; seven nieces and nephews, Heather Cuellar, Brian Doucha, Adam Peters, Monica Peters, Orion Peters, Stephen Leach and Dane Wood; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. Mr. Edward R. "Ed" Kisslak, 88, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023 in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, PA. Born November 29, 1934 in Johnstown, PA, he was the son of the late John and Catherine (Kupyar) Kisslak. Mr. Kisslak graduated from Conemaugh High School with the Class of 1952. He later received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Maryland. He and his wife, the late Delores "Dee" (Hamula) Kisslak, were married June 11, 1966 in Johnstown. They were together for 56 years when she passed away February 16, 2023. Mr. Kisslak served 33 years with the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Following his honorable discharge, he served 12 years as a civil servant. He faithfully donated blood to the American Red Cross. He was recognized by Ripley's Believe It or Not for having donated over 36 gallons of blood in his lifetime. Mr. Kisslak enjoyed attending meetings of the Waynesboro Coin Club and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by one daughter, Carol A. (Kisslak) Kimble of Waynesboro; and two grandsons, Evan R. Kimble and Chad E. Kimble, both of Waynesboro. He was the last of his immediate family. Mrs. Shaffer was a graduate of Waynesboro High School with the Class of 1950 and later attended Penn State University. She and her husband of over 73 years, William W. Shaffer, were married August 9, 1950 in Waynesboro. In her early life, Mrs. Shaffer was employed by Landis Tool Company and Frick Company, Waynesboro for several years. She later worked as a secretary for various local attorneys. She was a member of the National AARP and South Chapter AARP #2977, including its Kitchen Band. Mrs. Shaffer enjoyed crocheting, traveling and spending time with her family. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, William T. "Ted" Shaffer and his wife, Emillee of Chambersburg and Alan W. Shaffer and his wife, Nancy Lynch of Texas; three grandchildren, Ryan Shaffer, Robert Shaffer and Richard Shaffer; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Newcomer and two brothers, Walter Neibert and Charles Neibert. Mrs. Dorothy K. Davis, 79, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Monday, November 20, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Craig and Kathleen Mathias and husband, Charles E. Davis. She is survived by two sisters, Pat Gordon of Palmyra, PA and Jan Patterson of Blue Ridge Summit, PA. Dorothy was born in Marfa, TX on May 6, 1944. She was a graduate of Waynesboro High School with the Class of 1962. She later attended Southern Seminary College in Buena Vista, VA where she studied Art Appreciation. She lived in Maryland, New Jersey, Oklahoma and Illinois before returning to the Waynesboro area. Throughout her life she enjoyed helping others and worked as an alcoholic anonymous counselor. Dottie enjoyed art, made and sold pottery houses and greeting cards. She loved gardening, walks in the woods, going to the beach, studying history, journaling, genealogy, writing to people all over the world and had a lifelong interest in the history of Freemasonry and Daughters of the Eastern Star. She loved animals and had a strong attachment to her cat. Dottie appreciated her friends, old and new, recent caregivers and physicians. The family thanks them greatly for their support. A graveside service will take place at Green Hill Cemetery at the family's convenience.
