Along with his father he is preceded in death by one sister, Tammy Jo Bloomfield Potter. Left behind to cherish his memory along with his mother are his wife of 17 years Amanda Blankenship Bloomfield; one daughter, KayLee Marie (Megan) Sharp of Huntington, W. VA; two sons, Brandon Scott Holley and Braxton Lee Bloomfield both of South Shore, KY; Best friend Danny Ray Coleman and several other family and friends who will sadly miss him. Melvin F. Bowers, 82, of South Shore, Kentucky passed on December 2, 2023 at home. Melvin was born on March 1, 1941 in Dayton, Ohio, the son of the late Myrtle F. Bowers and Elza E. Bowers. On April 15, 1983 Melvin was united in marriage to the love of his life, Viola Colburn Bowers. Surviving is a daughter, Pam (Barry) McNichols; grandsons, Scott (Shyanne) McNichols, and James Findling; granddaughters, Tamela (Matt) Wiles, Mindy (Brad) Buskirk, Kelsey (Ronnie) Carroll, Mikki McCallister; great grandchildren, Cheyene, Sommer, and Winter Kuntz, Daniel Wiles, Aubrey and Samuel McNichols, Kaden Buskirk, and Aubree and Sadie Carroll; and Sister Pat DeBord. He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola Colburn Bowers; two sons, David Mitchell, and Melvin (Butch) Bowers; a daughter, Mary Ellen Lancaster; and brothers-in-law, Larry Colburn, and Vernon Toler. Wanda Sue Callihan, 64, of South Shore, KY, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth. She was born on July 18, 1959, in Ashland, KY, the daughter of the late John Bruce and Wanda Lee Dickerson Maynard. Sue was a 1977 graduate of South Webster High School and she was a Christian. While illness prevented her from attending church in the recent past, she rededicated her life to Christ during a recent stay in the hospital. Sue was a homemaker and had worked as an aide in area nursing homes. She enjoyed reading and passing her leisure time by knitting, crocheting, coloring, and watching movies. Surviving are her two children, John Brandon (Christy Lynn) Callihan of Wheelersburg and Mason (Benji Rhodes) Callihan of South Shore, KY; her brother, Rome (Shelly) Maynard of Greenville, SC; and three grandchildren, Keri Lynn (Kenny Dickess) Callihan, Sierra Nicole (Ethan) Carpenter, and Katelynn Marie Callihan. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Monday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Calvin Ray Evans and Rev. Brian Bear officiating. Kenneth Crawford, 75 Kenneth Crawford, 75 of South Shore, Kentucky, died Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Community Hospice in Ashland. He was born May 2, 1948 in Richmond, Indiana to the late Pearl and Ruth Cottingim Crawford. Ken was a 1966 graduate of Portsmouth West High School. He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Ken retired from the State of Ohio Division of Fire and Arson Investigation. He was a former Deputy Sheriff and a former Fire Chief of Minford and Stockdale Volunteer Fire Departments. He is a member and former Post Commander of James Dickey Post 23 American Legion, a member and former Commander of the 40/8, former Post Commander of American Legion District 7 and a member of the VFW Post 3638. Ken is survived by his wife Lana Hayden Crawford, whom he married on November 21, 1971, a son Tony (Amanda) Crawford, a daughter Amanda (Shawn) Tarr, a brother Glenn Crawford, 3 sisters: Wanda Massie, Cora Conkel and Esther Berling, 9 grandchildren: Darlene Boggs (Randy) Clutter, Christopher (Elizabeth) Boggs, Andrew Crawford, Tanner Crawford, Bryson Crawford, Mason Tarr, Alyson Tarr, Wystan Tarr, Emyrsen Tarr and 1 great grandchild Kian Boggs.
