Jack Guerry Thomas, Jr , originally from Macon, Georgia, passed away on October 3, 2023, after a valiant battle with cancer Visitation with family will be held Sunday, October 29th at Hart's Mortuary, 765 Cherry Street, Macon GA from 12 pm until 2 pm Graveside service will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery, 1071 Riverside Drive at 2:30 pm following visitation Guerry was the son of Jack and Katherine Thomas of Macon GA He was a loyal lifetime companion to Sharon Prosser and their daughter, Loisann Guerry was raised in Macon and graduated from Jonesco Academy He earned a degree in Business Administration from Georgia College in Milledgeville He was a welder prior to completing college and then worked for the State of Georgia Water and Conservation Department until his retirement An avid outdoorsman, Guerry enjoyed doing yard work with the help of his riding lawnmower, gardening, birdwatching/feeding, and sitting around his burn barrel enjoying the fruits of his labor while burning yard debris He also enjoyed hunting when time allowed and always made time to listen to the Allman Brothers and watch the Georgia Bulldogs play football Guerry is survived by Sharon and Loisann, his father, Jack Guerry Thomas, Sr , a brother Mike (Angela) Thomas of Juliette GA, three sisters; Margaret (Rick) Stolz of Suwanee GA, Marianne (Joel) Mann of Statham GA and Celia (Clark) Jernigan of Greenville SC He was uncle to eleven nieces and nephews; Alex (Brandy) Thomas, Ian (Kirsten) Thomas, Jason (Kaylyn) Stolz, Jarad (Catherine) Stolz, Nick (Molly) Mann, Mike (Danielle) Mann, Taylor Mann, Cameron Jernigan (Isaac Hartman), Clark Elliott (Lauren) Jernigan, Katherine Jernigan (Lars Steier), Riley Jernigan (Katie Kema), and seven great nieces and nephews In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one Guerry's favorite charities, which included the Georgia Wildlife Federation, The Allman Brother's Big House in Macon, and the NRA The family thanks the caregivers at Southern Grace Hospice in McDonough for their excellent care and compassion Please visit www hartsmort com to express condolences Hart's on Cherry Street, Hart's Mortuary and Cremation Center, 765 Cherry Street, Macon, GA 31201 has charge of the arrangements To to the family or in memory of Jack Guerry Thomas, Jr , please

Robert Allen "Bob" Berlin, passed away on November 22, 2023, at the age of 84 in Macon, Georgia. Born to the late Harold Chester and Betty Jaffe Berlin on September 4, 1939, in Passaic, New Jersey. Ever the student, he began his higher education journey early, enrolling at Vanderbilt University at just 15 years old. Bob's exceptional intellect led him down an illustrious path within the legal realm. He graduated to become a respected attorney and eventually a senior partner at the law firm of Berlin and Hodges, P. C. His integrity and wisdom were further recognized when he ascended to the role of Municipal Court Judge, a position he held with honor for 25 years, along with serving as a pro hac Judge in three other courts. From 1973 to 1974, he represented Middle Georgia District 86 in the State House of Representatives, furthering his commitment to public service. Alongside his legal career, Judge Berlin served as a Navy Reserve JAG officer. His caring and thoughtful nature also led him to support others as a marriage and family counselor. Bob's knack for guiding others through conflict was unrivaled. Becoming a leader in Alternative Dispute Resolution training and services. His mediation training course had become internationally recognized and revered, attracting students from around the world. Bob was an enthusiastic teacher, trainer, and presenter, roles he embraced at various institutions including Wesleyan College, Georgia College, Macon State College, Middle Georgia College, Georgia Military College, Central Georgia Technical College, and Herzing College, as well as Mercer University and its School of Law. Outside the courtroom and classroom, Bob was actively engaged in his community. He was a member of the Forsyth-Monroe County Rotary Club, Macon Exchange Club, and Bibb County Jaycees, among other organizations. His service extended to volunteering at Hospice and Big Brothers Big Sisters, where he held roles as President and member of the Board of Directors and was a mentor to numerous young men and boys over the years. Bob was a man of many passions. As a testament to his playful spirit, he went to Clown school and became Bobbo the Clown, spreading laughter and joy wherever he went. His commitment to young people shone through as he served as a foster parent, Boy Scout Leader, and Sunday School Teacher, while also participating in the Bibb County Juvenile Court Citizens Panel Review. An avid Georgia Bulldog fan, Bob enjoyed life's simple pleasures. He was an insatiable reader, a routine runner, and a skilled private pilot. His quick wit was on display during Toastmasters and while indulging in his love for comedy--whether it was telling jokes, engaging in improv, or playing practical jokes. Bob's spiritual journey also included being among the founders of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Macon. He exercised this cooperative spirit in all areas of his life, showing an openness and respect for various beliefs and ideologies. Bob Berlin's legacy is one of profound service, compassion, and joy. Whether it was through his professional achievements or the laughter he incited as Bobbo the Clown, his impact on the world was immeasurable. A dedicated guardian of the law, a beacon of knowledge, and a cherished member of his community, Bob's memory will be held in high esteem by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His absence will be deeply felt, and his influence, forever cherished. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Katherine Long Berlin. He is survived by his son, Robert Allen "Rab" Berlin, Jr. (Martha Ann), of Suwanee, Georgia; daughters, Sarah Ellen Berlin, of Macon, Georgia, and Alana Katherine Berlin, of Atlanta, Georgia; three grandchildren, Brandon Allen Berlin (Paisley), Brittany Ann Berlin, and Brooke Ansley Berlin; great grandson, Boden Clay Berlin; brother, Burgess Lee Berlin, of Union, New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews. James Edward Stallings, Sr. , age 85, of Macon, Georgia passed away December 1, 2023. A Rosary will be held Wednesday, December 6 at Snow's Memorial Chapel, 746 Cherry St. , Macon, GA at 5:30 pm with the Visitation following at 6:00. There will be a Mass on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church officiated by Father John Johnson. James was born in Silvertown, Georgia to the late Clarence and Thelma Fowler Stallings. He was retired from the U. S. Air Force Reserve and served in Desert Storm. James authored a book "Georgia's Confederate Soldiers Who Died as Prisoners of War 1861-1865". He was the owner of Stallings Dental Company for over 50 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and attended St. Peter Claver Catholic Church. Throughout his life, James was a member of many professional and civic organizations where he often had a leadership role. Among these he served as President of the National Association of Dental Laboratories, President of the Southeastern Conference of Dental Laboratories, President of the Georgia Society of The Sons of the American Revolution, Commissioner for the accreditation of dental technology schools for The American Dental Association, President of the Ocmulgee Chapter Sons of the American Revolution, Camp Commander for Edward Dorr Tracy Jr. Camp #18 Sons of the Confederate Veterans, President of Macon Noon Day Optimist Club, Member of First Families of Georgia, Member of Military Order of Stars and Bars, and he received the Gartland Award from the Diocese of Savannah. Kathryn was a loving mother and wife who had a heart full of unconditional love. Her presence would light up any room, and her infectious charm and wit would captivate everyone around her. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was well known for her intelligence and beauty. Kathryn, or Katie as she was affectionately called, had a wide range of interests and hobbies. She enjoyed swimming, reading, listening to music, and finding new shows to watch. She also had a passion for video games and loved engaging in conversations with anyone who would listen. Even with all these interests, her main passion was spending time with her beloved children whom she cared for with unconditional love and with whom she spent every moment she could. Kathryn leaves behind her beloved spouse, Jeremiah Parish, and their precious daughter, River Amelia Parish. She was also a mother to three stepchildren she considered her own, Elianna, Hannah, and Jude Parish. She was a cherished daughter of Annette Allmond and a loving sister to Barrett Allmond. In addition, she is survived by her father-in-law, Christopher Parish, and mother-in-law, Terre Parish. Kathryn was preceded in death by her father, Reamer Allmond. Hilda Ann Travis Jones, a mother, a precious member of Beulahland Bible Church, a retired social worker/teacher, and a cherished Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated member was called back to God on Sunday afternoon, November 26, 2023, at the age of 78. Born on May 25, 1945 to Mr. James "Jimmy" Travis and Mrs. Cecilia Arnetta Crawford Travis. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 10:00 a. m. at Beulahland Bible Church with Pastor Carlos L. Kelly officiating. Burial will be at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Friday, December 1, 2023 from 5:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. at Snow's @ Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. A native of Lake Wales, FL, Hilda received her Bachelor of Science degree (B. S. ) from Bethune-Cookman College in Daytona Beach, FL. where she met the love of her life, Issac Jones, Jr. She always said that their love was like Georgia pines meets Florida oranges. After marriage, she and Ike relocated to his hometown of McIntyre, GA. Her further studies led to earning both a Master of Education degree (M. Ed. ), and Educational Leadership degree (L-6), at Georgia College and State University, Milledgeville, GA. A Master of Social Work degree (MSW), was acquired at the University of Georgia, Athens, GA. A career that began as an elementary teacher for fourteen years in Wilkinson County Schools, Irwinton, GA, progressed to other positions and duties. A dual title of School Social Worker/Administrator was created, resulting in Hilda's assignment to the office of the Wilkinson County School District, and was employed in that position for nineteen years. After retiring, and moving to Macon, GA, she returned to teaching, working in the Bibb County School District for several years. Being a committed member of The Beulahland Bible Church, Hilda understood that in God's Word she would find strength, hope, love, peace and joy. She faithfully served and participated in several church Ministries: Hospitality; Marriage and Relationship; Women of Grace; and Volunteerism. She also distributed blankets to the homeless. Because a part of her church's Mission is, "Changing Lives in Middle Georgia," Hilda was actively involved in helping to make a difference throughout this community through her work in the above mentioned Ministries. Soror Hilda was initiated into the undergraduate Gamma Tau Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated at Bethune-Cookman College on December 10, 1964. She earned the Golden Soror status with 59 years of service in the sorority as of December 10, 2023. Since becoming a member of the Epsilon Omega Omega Graduate Chapter in 1996, she faithfully participated and worked diligently on various committees and chapter programs over the years. One of her most proud moments was being recognized by her Sorors and presented with the "2016 Extra Mile Award. " Being a part of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated was one of the highlights in her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Issac (Ike) Jones; her parents Mr. James "Jimmy" Travis and Mrs. Cecilia Arnetta Crawford Travis and her brothers Jim Travis, Herman Travis and Hiram Travis. She is survived by her three children, Jarvis Jones, Travis Jones, and Tarah Jones, five grandchildren, J'Terius Jones, Munashe Jones, Kennedi Jones, Averi Jones and Mason Jones and her siblings Tillie (Albert) Tomlin, Rose Travis, and Terry Lee Travis and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. They all brought her much love, joy and happiness. Hilda was a kind, hardworking and enthusiastic person with a larger than life personality. Matt was the ultimate entrepreneur with many amazing God-given talents. These included woodworking, lighting, designing, and many other creative adventures. He began woodworking as a child and as a self-taught carpenter, he could build anything from cabinetry to ornate houses. As he grew up, his gifts developed into a beautiful balance of logical mathematics and creativity. He graduated from Mercer University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Accounting in 1996. As a third generation mover, Matt was extremely family oriented and used his degree to expand Blair Moving and Storage. His pursuit of health and wellness led him on many athletic adventures. He enjoyed rock climbing, bicycling, olympic lifting, and won several CrossFit competitions. He also held a black belt in karate. Often referred to as a "problem solver," Matt could fix anything and once designed an app for CrossFit enthusiasts and purchased a gym to test his app ideas. In addition, he developed a supercomputer to harness additional engineering and blueprint design skills. Matt was a visionary with aspirations of taking his amazing gifts and talents to create experiences in helping others bring their imagination to fruition. Matt's quietness and determination endeared him to many people. He was successful in everything he attempted to do. He is survived by the love of his life, Dr. Sylvia Rose-Brown (married for four years); parents, Pam and Larry Brown, who provided unconditional love and support; brother, Jason (Angela) Brown; and a niece, Autumn Worsham. He will be missed by many family and friends.
