Jack (John) L. Rouchka, 74, of Lee's Summit Mo made is peaceful transition on Tuesday September 5, 2023. Jack was born September 3, 1949, in Sedalia Missouri. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1967 where he played basketball and baseball. Jack went on to attend Central Missouri State College and received his Batchlor Degree. Jack served in the Army National Guard for 8 years where he received the rank of Staff Sargent. He started working for Missouri Public Service in college and retired from Aquila after 36 years. He enjoyed playing softball with his Mo Pub buddies and was always ready to play a round of golf. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Carolyn Rouchka, 4 children Bryan Rouchka and his wife Rhonda of Chillicothe Mo, Brett Rouchka of Pleasant Hill Mo, Brooke Rouchka of Belton Mo and Matthew Gregg and his wife Jill of Holden. He has 9 wonderful grandchildren Colby Rouchka, Kolby Eller, Haylie Rouchka, Chase Rouchka, Conner Bracken, Cole Bracken, Charlie Gregg, Hudson Gregg and Everly Gregg. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Rouchka, mother Henerietta Rouchka and sister Kathy Knox of Sedalia Mo. Gary W. Fruits, 75, of Lee's Summit, MO, passed peacefully Sunday December 3 rd , 2023, at Saint Luke's East Hospital, with his family by his side. He was born on October 28, 1948, to Loren John Fruits and Mahota Earhart Fruits in Wichita, KS. He was a member of the Kansas Masonic Albert Pike Lodge of Wichita, KS. Gary attended Wichita State University where he was a member of the marching band and earned his Bachelor Degree in Business Administration in 1970. He also attended and graduated from the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin in Madison in 1981 and the Graduate School of Commercial Lending at the University of Oklahoma in Norman in 1988. He married Debbi Graves on October 7, 1979 in Moberly, MO and they had one child, Lauren Fruits. He spent most of his career in commercial banking. He started his career with Union National Bank in Wichita, KS. From there, he worked for Commerce Bank in Kansas City and Moberly, MO, First National Bank of Columbia, Bank of Lee's Summit, Brotherhood Bank & Trust, and later retiring from Columbian Bank and Trust in 2008. In 2009 Gary and Lauren became real estate agents together and he joined Fishman Commercial Real Estate where he enjoyed doing commercial real estate up until his passing. In 2009 he was also appointed to the Jackson County Board of Equalization. He was always very active in the community, volunteering his time to numerous organizations. Committee's and boards he served on include: past President and Board Member of Downtown Lee's Summit Main Street inc. , Past President, Treasurer and Board Member for the Lee's Summit Symphony Orchestra, member of the Lee's Summit Arts Council, Past Board Member of the Lee's Summit Economic Development Council. Involvement in LS 360 and the Lee's Summit Land Clearance Redevelopment Authority among others. He loved Model Railroading, art, music, sports, and his dogs. Always cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, Missouri Tigers, Wichita State Shockers, Oklahoma Sooners, and any team his daughter Lauren was affiliated with including the University of Texas and the University of Texas San Antonio. He was also a member of the Coates Street Presbyterian Church in Moberly, MO. Gary is survived by his wife, Debbi Fruits, daughter, Lauren Fruits, mother-in-law, Wanda Graves and many cousins, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Loren John Fruits and Mahota Earhart Fruits, father-in-law, James F. Graves, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Visitation will be Friday December 8 th from 4:00-6:00pm at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee's Summit. Lela F. (Enos) Minnick, 95, of Lee's Summit, MO, went to be with her Lord and Savior December 1, 2023. Funeral services will be at Langsford Funeral Home, 115 SW 3rd St, Lee's Summit, MO 64063. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 9, 2023, followed by the Funeral at 11:00 AM. Lela was born December 29, 1927, in Adrian, MO, to James V. and Ruth L. Enos. She married Veldon Gene Minnick on April 27, 1951, and moved to Lee's Summit, MO in 1955. She was a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her children, Ron G. Minnick (Debra) and Vickie L. Jones (David), her grandchildren Carrie R. Bowman (Andy) and Jesse A. Minnick (Bre), and her great grandchildren Cecilia and Caleb Bowman were her pride and joy. She worked at Unity Village, Hallmark Cards, the Lens Plant in Butler, MO, a department store in Ft Riley, KS, and the Lee's Summit R-7 School district as a bus aide. She also was a long-time volunteer at the Lee's Summit Community Hospital, pushing the courtesy cart and handing out snacks, water and newspapers. But her favorite job of all was being called "Grandma Lela" by many children that she cared for in her home from the 1960's-1980's. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church, Lee's Summit, MO, and active with her Sunday School Class until recent years. Her hobbies included camping and fishing at Lake Pomme de Terre, crocheting and needle work, and baking. Lela lived on her own with her dog Cody until the summer 2023 when she moved to Wexford Place. She was preceded in death by her husband Veldon Gene Minnick, her parents, her siblings Viola Doll, Lila Alexiou, Frank Enos, and James Enos, her nephew Frank Enos II, and her great nephews Travis Enos and Carson Elmer. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister-in-law Peggy Wulff, Frederick, CO, and brother-in-law D. J. "Dennison "Denny" Lightner Dennison "Denny" Lightner, age 75, a resident of Lee's Summit, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at his residence, Lee's Summit, Missouri. Denny was born the son of William and Mary (Braden) Lightner on July 16, 1948, in Chillicothe, Missouri. On August 29, 1970, he was united in marriage to Joyce Kleoppel, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norborne, Missouri. She survives of the home. He was a member of the Missouri National Guard and St. Columban Knights of Columbus. While he resided in Chillicothe, he owned Lightner Insurance Agency. In 1991, Denny moved his family to Sedalia, Missouri, where he worked as a Premium Auditor for EMC Insurance until 2016. He enjoyed golf, playing cards and coached many children's sports teams. He was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, Royals and the Mizzou Tigers. He especially loved family time. Survivors include his wife, Joyce, of the home; one son, Shane Lightner and wife, Heather, of Bonner Springs, Kansas; two daughters, Shannen Merrick and husband, Aaron, of Lenexa, Kansas, and Shauna Cecil and husband, Bryon, of Lee's Summit, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Caden, Cohen and Cami Merrick, Sam, Olivia and Lucas Lightner, Rosie, Calvin and Braden Cecil; one brother, Robert Lightner and wife, Phyllis, of Stillwell, Kansas; two sisters, Pamela Bruce, of Kansas City, Missouri, and Janet Kesler, of Muncie, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers-in-law Jeff Kesler and Steve Bruce. Charles Clifford Botts IV "Chaz", 46, of Lee's Summit, MO sadly left us on November 23, 2023. He is survived by his wife Lee Anne Botts, daughters Callee and Allee Botts, Father Charles Clifford Botts III, stepmother Mary Botts, Half-brother Chris Botts, Half-sister's Liz, Catie and Mel, Uncle Kennth Shanks and half niece Alyssa Hylton. He was preceded in death by his mother Judy Shanks and sister Stacey Hylton. A funeral service will be held in his honor at Langsford Funeral Home, Saturday December 2, 2023, visitation at 10am and service at 11am. Chaz went to Savannah High School and competed in many sports, but his favorites were baseball and football. Then he attended Missouri Western State University, and he had a variety of jobs, but ended up working as a network engineer, which allowed him to work from home and enabled him to spend more time ubering the girls around. His favorite thing to do was watching his daughters do whatever they were doing at that time. Throughout his life he was always tinkering on cars, watching baseball and football, hanging out with friends and being a wonderful husband and dad. He was always kind and polite to anyone and everyone he would meet. He'd be the guy that would give you the shirt off his back. Nancy Jane Hughes, a beloved member of the community and a dedicated psychiatric nurse, passed away unexpectedly on November 21, 2023, in Lee's Summit, Missouri. She was born on November 1, 1939, in Jefferson City, Missouri. Nancy was known for her compassionate nature and commitment to caring for others throughout her career. After earning her license as a practical nurse, Nancy dedicated herself to the field of psychiatry. She worked tirelessly until her retirement, providing comfort and support to countless patients. Her warm smile and kind-hearted nature brought solace to those in need during difficult times. Nancy's nurturing spirit extended beyond her professional life. She found great joy in gathering her loved ones together and hosting family gatherings. Her home was always filled with laughter and love as she created unforgettable memories with her family and friends. In her leisure time, Nancy indulged in various hobbies that brought her immense happiness. She had a passion for crocheting blankets and took great pleasure in passing down this skill to her grandson. True crime shows and basketball games captivated her attention, while books held a special place in her heart. As her eyesight deteriorated over the years, she transitioned to audiobooks to continue enjoying the wonder of storytelling. Nancy also found peace in praying the rosary daily and frequently participated in church activities, such as working in the nursery at St. Mark Catholic Church until it temporarily closed due to Covid restrictions. Additionally, she selflessly assisted in cooking meals for the funeral cappers at St. Mark Catholic Church, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to serving others. Nancy Jane Hughes will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Nancy is mourned by her children Anne Roberts, Joan Blair, and Jane (Joseph) Zapien. Her memory will be cherished by her grandchildren, Shannon (Chris) Masterson, Amanda (Bishop) Roberts, Allison Roberts, Christopher (Keauna) Blair, Mathew Blair, Nate (Dani) Blair, Jeremiah (Lacie) Zapien, Jonathon (Kelly) Zapien, Daniel (Samantha) Zapien, Robert (Lisa) Zapien, Sammi Jo (Josh) Bailey, Keelan (Payton) Campbell, Bella Hughes Bailey, Suzanne (Kerry) Gardner, Christina (Derick) Whaley, James (Jamie) Cline, David Rick, Lacy Rick, Kolbe (Naudika) Hughes, Lucy Hughes, Brigid (Jose) Hughes, and Liam Hughes. She is also survived by her brother Jeryl (Judy) Stewart and sister-in-law Mary Ann Krause as well as sister-in-law Rosemary Hughes. Nancy's gentle spirit continues to live on in the hearts of numerous nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren who were blessed to have had a place in her life. She is preceded in passing by her beloved husband, John Joseph Hughes, parents, Chester and Maxine Stewart, sons, John Joseph Hughes II and Joseph Michael Hughes, daughter, Mary Beth Rick, grandchildren, Jennifer Stephens, Jacob Blair, and Jared Gardner, and great grandchild Thomas Hampton. Services to honor the life of Nancy Jane Hughes will be held on November 28th at St. Mark Catholic Church in Independence. A Rosary will take place at 9:45 am in the morning followed by a visitation from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A Memorial Mass will then be celebrated at 11:00 am with an inurnment to follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery. As we say goodbye to Nancy Jane Hughes on this somber occasion of her passing, let us remember the beautiful moments she shared with us throughout her lifetime.
