Jack Bradford Jeffries '84' of Clemson, South Carolina, passed away on September 3, 2023. He is survived by his spouse Mary Germany Jeffries, their daughters Susan Jeffries Loeschner, Annie Jeffries Hardt (Scott), their son James Bradford Jeffries (MaryJo), and their grandchildren Benton Sawyer Hardt (Aspen), Elizabeth Hannah Loeschner, Theodore Bradford Loeschner, Jacklyn Elizabeth Jeffries, and Dominic Bradford Jeffries. He is preceded in death by his parents Bradford Ernest Jeffries, Susanna Gilroy Jeffries, and his siblings Marilyn Jeffries Schwaberow and Paul A Jeffries. Jack enjoyed outdoor sports and recreation, including boating, fishing, and attending sporting events. As an alumnus of The Ohio State University, he was a passionate supporter of the Buckeyes, most notably its football team and marching band. Most of all, Jack cherished the times he spent with his family, especially with his five grandchildren, of which he was so very proud. To most who met him, Jack will be remembered for his remarkable wit and wonderful sense of humor. "Eleanor "Jimmie" Miller Pletta, 87 of Clemson, SC passed away on November 25th, 2023 at the Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca, SC. Jimmie was born on July 5, 1936 to James Walter Miller and Martha Margaret Smith Miller in Pearisburg, Va. She grew up in Pembroke, VA as the oldest of 4 children and the only girl. She loved sports and played basketball in high school. While attending Radford College, she met the love of her life, William H. "Bill" Pletta on a blind date while he was attending the nearby Virginia Tech University. They were married for 60 years and had three children. She was a career teacher, starting out in Physical Education. After living in Blacksburg, VA, Charleston WV, Clinton IA, and Kingsport, TN; they moved to Seneca, SC in the summer of 1976. Jimmie took a position at Westminster High as a P. E. teacher, volleyball coach, and advisor to the student council. Later she moved to West Oak High and continued to advise the student council as well as teaching math and working in administration as a vice principal of the school. Jimmie's claim to fame is that while she advised the student council they were undefeated in the statewide scrapbook competition for approximately 25 years straight. Jimmie enjoyed traveling, quilting, sports, and being in the company of her family and friends. Although she learned to quilt later in life, she became quite proficient and even won a few competitions. The quilts she made for family members to celebrate important occasions like a marriage or the birth of a child continue to be treasured. She was often described by others as kind, patient, supportive, and nurturing. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Stanley Miller, brother Steven Miller, son Kevin Harry Pletta, mother-in-law Dorothea Pletta, and her husband Bill. She is survived by her sister-in-law Carol Schoner, son Bryan Pletta, daughter-in-law Cristina Radu, daughter Leslie Pletta-Smith, son-in-law Timothy Smith, and granddaughter Rachel Smith. A memorial service will be held at University Lutheran Church in Clemson, SC on Thursday, November 30th at 6:00 p. m. All are welcome. "Martha C. Mahaffee Seneca, SC Martha C. Mahaffee, age 93, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023, at Dominion Senior Living in Clemson, South Carolina. Born on April 21, 1930, she was the loving wife of 41 years to the late Joseph Walter Mahaffee Jr. and daughter to the late Walter Daniel Campbell and Della Campbell Patterson. Mrs. Mahaffee was an active and cherished parishioner of Seneca Presbyterian Church where she served as Deacon and held several other leadership roles including Chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee and was a member of the Sara Davis Stribling Sunday School class. Martha will be remembered as an accomplished artist, seamstress, and an exceptional cook. She was also a member of the Seneca Garden Club. Martha is survived by her children; Marcia M. Bibb (Graham), of Belmont, NC, Mary Jo McAnally (Robert) of Seneca, SC, Joe Mahaffee (Nancy) of Annapolis, MD, Jim Mahaffee of Seneca, SC, Gerry Mahaffee (Debbie) of Bumpass, VA, grandchildren; Lesley Bibb Strobel, Jon Mahaffee, Trey McAnally (Haley), Jo McAnally Hanna (Michael), Jerry Mahaffee, Kristen Mahaffee Lovering (Ian), Jimmy Mahaffee, Joseph Mahaffee, and Jeffrey Mahaffee, great-grandchildren; Lucy Strobel, Peter Mahaffee, Ollie Lovering, and Mac McAnally, siblings; Dan Campbell of Pensacola, FL, Alice Smith of York, SC, and Laura Adams of Rock Hill, SC. In addition to her husband and parents, Martha is predeceased by sisters; Dorothy Sullivan of Laurens, SC, Gladys Smith of Blacksburg, SC, Floree Clark of Columbia, SC, Evelyn Neelands of Blacksburg, SC, and brother; Gene Campbell of York, SC. Carol Anne DiStefano, age 88, passed away on July 8th, 2023, at Dominion Senior Living in Clemson, South Carolina, with her family by her side. Carol was born in Toledo, Ohio, on March 24, 1935, and was raised in Canton, OH. She graduated from McKinley High School in Canton, where she was the reigning football queen in 1954. Carol went on to marry Richard (Dick) Albert with whom she had three children. She worked as a realtor in Canton, followed by 25 years as a cashier at Fisher Foods. Carol was a devoted, loving, wonderful mother, and she cherished her children and family more than life. She loved traveling both nationally and abroad, enjoying her most treasured trip to Israel. She also loved dancing and listening to music, especially from the '50s and '60s. Over the years, Carol had many beloved pets that she adored. Carol loved talking about Jesus and how wonderful she thought Heaven would be. Her faith was instilled in her entire family from the beginning. Carol was preceded in death by her parents William and Lida Leidig of Canton, her four siblings, and late husbands, Joseph DiStefano of North Canton, William Rollins of Canton, and Thomas Meese of Canton. She is survived by her three children: Debbie (Jeff Brannan) of Anderson, SC, Cindy (Bruce Hadley) of Seneca, SC, and Doug Albert of Myrtle Beach, SC; five grandchildren: Derek (Elisa Sisterhen) of Apex, NC, Shayna Jackson of Massillon, OH, Sarah (Ben Bowles) of Greenville, SC, and Chad and Nick Brannan of Canton, OH; and seven great-grandchildren: Knowledge and Kneveiah Poole and Sharaya Jackson from Massillon, OH, Owen, Nora, and Elsie Sisterhen of Apex, NC, and Hadley Bowles of Greenville, SC. Carol was also blessed to share in the lives of her former husbands' children and families. Carol's family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of the Upstate of SC who watched over and took care of their dear mother during her final months. They are also incredibly grateful for the care provided by Dominion Senior Living at Patrick Square in Clemson, SC. Carol will be truly missed by all who knew her, especially her loving family.
