The farming community suffered a great loss on Friday December 1, 2023. Jack Watterson Elliott, 66, born July 19, 1957, went to be with his Lord and Savior after a brief bout of cancer. Jack was an avid softball player, coach, and fan. He was the 1976 State Horseshoe Pitching Champion. He is survived by his wife, Teresa, his son J. W. Rodriguez Walker, 58, of Lincoln Heights, Nicholasville, youngest of three children, was born on November 3, 1965, to Leonard “Bird Dog” Walker and Ann Carol Ison-Walker. God says in His Word that you can tell His children by the love they have for their brethren. Rod not only loved many but he was also loved by many. Rod leaves to mourn his passing a loving aunt and faithful caretaker, Claudette Ison, a daughter, Kristen, and five grandchildren, Kaydence, Kenneddie, Cameron, Carsten, and Caiden. Rod also leaves two sisters, Angela (Robert) Tolley and Pamela (Donald) Wilhite, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and some devoted very close friends. Services will be at 1:00 PM Friday, February 23, 2024, at the First Baptist Church located at 200 S. York Street in Nicholasville, with Pastor Moses Radford officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Bearers will be Larry Higgins, Derrick Sanders, Monique Sanders, Chancelor Robinson, Mark Jackson. Honorary Bearers will be Mike Thomas, Thomas Robinson, Don Ison, Keith Ison, Darrien Smithpeter, Coach Holobeck, and Philip Shelby. Visitation will be at the church Friday from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. She was preceded in death by her Beloved husband of 44 years, Charles Kenneth “Kenny” Williams, her parents, Burley and Edith Adkins, and her brother, Wayne. Survivors include her lifelong special friends, Benny and Debbie Pivonka, their son and her Godson, Christopher Pivonka; his wife Rachel and their two sons, Noah, and Elijah Pivonka; a special friend, Gina (John) Branscum, and her cousins, caregivers, and friends. He was born in Nicholas County, Kentucky, on October 3, 1938, to the late Ray Burns McKenzie and Virginia Mae Morris McKenzie. Wayne is a retired Body Shop Owner, truck driver, and farmer. Survivors include four children, Melissa Ann (Lonnie) Noe, Kimberly (David) Rowland, Cathy Jo (Tommy) Sanders, and Billy Wayne (Michelle) McKenzie, 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Connie Marie Clinkenbeard. The funeral service will be at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Betts & West Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Horton and Pastor Troy Miller officiating. Marilyn Jean Curliss, 86, passed away February 4, 2024, in Nicholasville, Ky. Mrs. Curliss was born on December 26, 1937, to the late George Weigand and Irene Mirus in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she would later become a huge Red's baseball fan. She also loved playing board games, cross stitching, knitting, playing cards and she was an avid bowler. She also worked for many years at David Joseph Company, where she made many friends - and kept those friends, well into retirement. Marilyn is survived by her children, Philip Schnur (Annette) of Nicholasville and Debbie Dalesio (Frank) of North Carolina. Her stepchildren, Andy Curliss (Nikki) of North Carolina and Heather Curliss of Tennessee. Her grandchildren, Virginia Christie (James), Amy Schnur (Chris), Victoria Dalesio, Bella Dalesio, Madelyn Brill (Louis), Jake Momchilov, and Claire Curliss. And her great-grandchildren, Annabel and Jamie Christie, Ava Schnur, and Nadia Dalesio. Other than her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, James Curliss, her daughter, Linda Cole and her brother George "Jerry" Weigand. The family will have a service at a later date in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Nikolay Torchilo, 82, of Nicholasville, Kentucky, passed away February 2, 2024. He was born on February 16, 1941 in Ukraine, a son of Mikhail and Vera Torchilo. On May 12, 1963 in Ukraine he was united in marriage to Lidiya Torchilo, a blessed union of almost 60 years filled with much love and mutual devotion. Nikolay was a dedicated member of the Ukrainian Pentecostal Church. He loved singing and serving others. He loved his family and cherished the time that he spent with them, especially his beloved children and grandchildren. He is survived by his beloved children, Anatoliy Torchilo and his wife Sofiya, Nina Torchilo and her husband Mikhail, Vitaliy Torchilo and his wife Mariya, Petr Torchilo and his wife Tamara, Vladimir Torchilo and his wife Taisa. He also leaves 32 cherished grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Lueferrell Smith Bridges, age 92, of Nicholasville, KY, was reunited with her Savior and family in heaven January 31, 2024. Dorothy was born in Morgan County, AL, to George and Bertha Smith, on March 5, 1931. Dorothy met her husband, Russell Bridges, at Bearden High School in Knoxville, TN. She supported Russell through his education and as he served in ministry and various roles in higher educational Development. In his retirement, she and Russell volunteered at the Baptist Theological Seminary in Ruschlikon, Switzerland, and traveled extensively with family and friends. After relocating to the Lexington area, Russell and Dorothy were faithful members of Calvary Baptist Church. Dorothy’s greatest joy was raising her four children (also known as “Dot and her four dashes”) and caring for those she loved. In later years as Dorothy struggled with dementia, she would be known to ask visitors if everyone had eaten or needed anything to make them more comfortable. Dorothy will be remembered for her caring spirit, unintentional comedy, and the deep pride she took in her family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Russell, daughter, Lisa Bridges Clare, granddaughter, Jessica Clare, and siblings (Ester Smith, Louise Brackett, and Wynnell Galyon). Dorothy is survived by her three sons, Philip Bridges of Bardstown, KY, Mark (Kim) Bridges of Georgetown, KY, Kent (Lana) Bridges of Nicholasville, KY, son-in-law, Walter Clare of Shelbyville. KY and grandchildren, Amy Bridges, Emily (Bryan) Seagraves, William Clare, Krista Clare, and Michael Clare. The family will be receiving friends Sunday, February 11, from 2-5pm at Clark Legacy Center in Nicholasville, KY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any gifts in her memory be made to Bluegrass Care Navigators.
