Jack Collins Obituary

Age - 85
October 6, 2023
Port Dickinson, NY
Jack F. Collins, whose favorite expression was "one day at a time," bravely faced his last day of life on October 4, 2023. Sadly the world lost a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law, and friend who brought immense joy to others and who impacted countless lives. Jack F. Collins was born on May 27, 1938 to Mae and Clifford Collins in Warsaw, New York. He attended Morrisville College where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering, and then Oswego College where he graduated with a degree in Industrial Arts. He then began his 47-year career at Windsor High School where he taught Industrial Arts, Computer Aided Design, Mechanical Drawing, and was chair of the Industrial Arts Department. He also taught Driver Education, and enjoyed singing "slow down, you're moving too fast" to his unsuspecting students. At Windsor High School, he started both the Golf Team (which he coached for 14 years) and the Chess Club, and for many years was head coach of both the Lady Knights and the Black Knights (boys) basketball teams. In his second season leading the Black Knights, his team went 21-0, capped by a four-overtime sectional final. Over his five decades of coaching, his basketball teams won more than 400 games, including at least 10 League and Section IV championships. In 2003, he was inducted into the Section IV Hall of Fame for "Outstanding Achievement in Athletics". He loved spending time with his precious family and friends, golfing, beer (especially cheap beer), playing sudoku, wearing his Windsor and Syracuse vintage sweatshirts, eating out with his wife and enjoying the simple pleasures of life. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years Joan Collins, brother Terry, children Kathie (Mark) Schroll, Trisha (Michele Strelec) Collins, Jill (Eddie) Karana, Caroline (John) Moose, John (Celyn) Collins, and fondly known as adopted daughter Jean Martino, grandchildren John Michael (Megan), Kristie, Alyssa (Corbin), Grace, Nicholas, Peyton (Sully), Camden (Mack), Teagan, Joshua, Joseph (Jessica), Jacob and Johnna, and great grandchildren Shane, Maizy and Baby Sullivan. He is also survived by nieces and nephews Judi, Linda, Wayne, Brenda, David, Bridget, Kurt, Glenn, Anna, and Daniel, and brothers-in-law Bruce (Elizabeth) and David (Charla). He is predeceased by parents Mae and Clifford, sister Betty, sister-in-law MaryLouise, and brother-in-law Donald. We will all miss his tremendous presence in our lives more than words can ever express. Funeral plans and a celebration of Jack's life will be announced at a later date. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www. WmRChase. com for the Collins family.
