Jack C. Brown, 75, of Carlisle, Arkansas, passed peacefully September 7, 2023. Jack was born September 9, 1947 in Lonoke, AR to Thelma Lorene Ward Brown and Lloyd E. Brown and was one of 10 children. Survivors include all 9 of his brothers and sisters, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Brenda Dianne Halijan, age 77, of Carlisle, Arkansas died Sunday, October 29, 2023. She was born on April 20, 1946, to James and Evelyn White, and raised on a farm in the Plainview community in Lonoke County. She graduated from Carlisle High School in 1964, where she was Salutatorian of the graduating class. She married Frank Halijan on August 2, 1964, and they raised their three sons on the family rice and soybean farm near Carlisle. After her sons left for college, she also served as an office manager and bookkeeper for a local company in Carlisle until her retirement in 2008. She was a dedicated and devoted mother and wife. She was always present wherever her sons needed her to be, whether as a room mother, organizer, supporter in the stands, or when a watchful eye was needed. She considered the raising of her children to be her proudest accomplishment. She enjoyed family time more than anything and loved every moment she got to spend with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also a woman of strong faith and a dedicated Christian. She was deeply involved in her church throughout her life, and took particular joy in church music, singing in her church choir and playing the piano for services. She is survived by her husband, Frank Halijan, of Carlisle; her sons, Doug Halijan of Memphis, Darin Halijan (Shannon) of Little Rock, and Dean Halijan (Christie) of Little Rock; her grandchildren Dara Halijan of Carlisle and Anna Underwood of Little Rock; and great-grandchildren Finley and Evelyn Kathleen Reneau. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Evelyn White, and her brother, Larry White. The funeral will be held at Hebron Methodist Church at 10:00 a. m. on Friday, November 3, with burial at Hebron Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p. m. It is with great sorrow that we announce that Donald "Bud" Brewer, of Carlisle, Arkansas, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on Thursday, September 21, 2023. "Bud" and his twin sister, Martha "Sis" Swanson, were born January 29, 1947, in Mena, Arkansas to L. E. and Edith-Mae (McKenzie)Brewer. He spent 12 years serving as a Lonoke County Reserve Deputy and many more as a local farmer. His favorite past time was going hunting with his sons and grandsons, playing dice with the love of his life, Judy, and spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends, and ministering to everyone about his Jesus. He was proceeded in death by his son, Donald "Crockett" Brewer, both his parents and several brothers and sisters. He leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Judy J. (Schrimsher) Brewer, his son Douglas L. Brewer (Lisha), his eight grandchildren; Monica Croucher (Rob), Gene Brewer (Jenny), Brandon Brewer (Alyssa), Matthew Brewer (Brittney), Jessica Skillern (Lukas), Donnavan Brewer (Cortney), Cody Brewer, and Chelsea Brewer-Griggs (Jason) and his 23 Great-Grandchildren. Along with his three sisters, Martha "Sis" Swanson (Fred) of Texas, Betty-Lou May (widowed) and Lily Sanders (Teddy) both of Ward, Arkansas. Everyone who knew "Bud" knew how he was. He was full of light, love, joy, positivity, and plenty of advice about love and life. His attitude and personality were contagious to all, after even just a single metting with him. Carl Dean Madar, age 76, from Carlisle, Arkansas, passed away April 6, 2023. He was born March 27, 1947, in Carlisle, Arkansas, to the late Joe and Cora Madar. From an early age, Carl knew he wanted to be a farmer. He began farming during his senior year of high school and continued until he retired in 2006. He served as an elder at the Palm Street Church of Christ for over 30 years. Traveling was a passion, especially any trip that involved going out west. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Madar, and his daughter, Carla Davenport. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Linda Madar; daughters, Cindy (Eric) Judy and Cyndi (Chris) Matthews; sons, Clay (Emily) Madar and Greg (Tammy) Downum; sisters, Eva Jo (Bill) Glover and Ruth James; grandchildren, Molly, Carly, and Micah Madar, Allen and Brenna Judy, Ethan Davenport, Zach and Alexis Downum, Madison (Jonathan) Carter, and Molly Matthews, and nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00PM Thursday, April 13, 2023, at the Palm Street Church of Christ, 1115 West Palm Street in Lonoke, Arkansas. The funeral service will be at 10:00AM on Friday, April 14, 2023, at the church building with burial to follow at Carlisle Cemetery. Mary Agnus Roland, 94, passed away in Carlisle, Arkansas on February 11th, 2023. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Robert E. Harris and Viola Edwards Harris on October 12th, 1928. Mary's family were crop sharers in Northeast Arkansas until their move to the small community of Bethlehem near Clarendon. She met her first husband, James Britton, at a diner in the local bus stop where she worked. They were married in 1946 until his death in 1960. It just so happened that in 1968, while working her shift at a local restaurant, she met her second husband, Bill Roland. They would be married until his death in 1987. Throughout the years, Mary enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was blessed with a large family and a loving congregation at Broadmoor Baptist Church. She liked to sing Hymnals and crochet blankets. Along with this, she was a frequent library goer who enjoyed reading most any type of books, but mostly mysteries. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Viola; spouses, James, and Bill; son, Ronnie James Britton; brothers, Jessie Harris, Walter Harris, and Robert Harris; and sisters, Virginia Harris, Idell Sieckman, and Erma Baldridge. Those remaining to cherish her memory are son, Gary Britton; daughters, Mary Louise Britton, Hilda (Benny) Rawlison, Zelda (Connie) Willhite, and Freda Britton; grandchildren, Bobby Swift, Mike Swift, Brittney Griggs, Crystal Moffett, and Wesley Moffett; 10 great grandchildren, Alona Griggs, Kurt Griggs, Sarah Swift, Rachel Swift, Kalie Linderman, Jordan Walker, Braylon Walker, Tabitha Walker, Ethan Moffett, and Branson Moffett; three great-great grandchildren, DeTrez Broadway, Olivia Broadway, and Camie Hurley; along with a host of other family and friends.
