"Bennie Ray Roberts, 72, passed away on November 9, 2023 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born August 26, 1951, in New Albany, MS to Ethrel and Carolyn Roberts. He was a 1969 graduate of East Union Attendance Center. He played baseball at NEMCC and the University of West Georgia. He worked for over twenty years for the United States Postal Service as the Rural Mail Carrier for Route 3, Blue Springs. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved his family, farming, and East Union Sports. He was a member of Ellistown Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Gary Roberts. Survivors include his twin sister, Linda May Roberts; sister-in-law, Jean Roberts; two nephews, Kevin Roberts (Bebe), Marty Roberts (Michelle); two nieces, Lacretia Wilkinson (Rusty), Leslie Hatcher (Tim); six great-nephews, Hunter Hatcher (Madeline), Zane Wilkinson (Maggie), Joel Wilkinson, Heath Wilkinson, Kye Roberts, Josh Whitenton; six great-nieces, Natalie Hatcher, Caroline Wilkinson, Bella Roberts, Lauren Jane Hutcheson (Ethan), Eliza Whitenton, Sadie Roberts; one great-niece, Mallie Hatcher. Services will be at Ellistown Baptist Church Sunday, November 12, 2023 at 4 o'clock with Brother Mike Powell officiating. Visitation will begin at 2 o'clock until service time. "Willie King Butler Bending, 97, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, November 2, 2023. She was born September 13, 1926 to William and Lonie King Butler. She was born and raised in New Albany and attended W. P. Daniel High School. Mrs. Bending later went on to Mississippi State where she completed two-year business degree. She was a homemaker and gave so much of her time to the community as a Girl Scout Leader, Sunday school teacher, youth fellowship leader, and a member of the Modern Mothers Club of New Albany. She and Mr. Bending did volunteer work with the Meals-on-Wheels program, Salvation Army, and St. Jude, and LeBonheur. She was so loved and well respected by her community, friends, and family. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. A celebration of life services will be announced at a late time. Those left to carry on her memories are her daughter, Martha King Bending of Oxford, MS, one grandson, William Bending III (Molly), and two great-grandchildren, Sarah Bending and Julie Anne Frances Bending, and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, William Howard Binding Sr. one son William Howard Bending Jr. , three sisters and three brothers and several nephews. "Albany-Thomas Randy Cobb, 75, entered Heaven on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. Mr. Cobb was born in Pontotoc, but was a lifelong resident of Union County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Lorene Cobb, and a brother Herbert Cobb. Randy was a 1965 graduate of Ingomar High School. He attended Northeast Mississippi Community College, then graduated from The University of Mississippi Law School. Randy's early work life began as a package boy at Big Star, followed by getting his broadcasting license in Nashville, then working as a DJ at WNAU radio and then WTVA television station. He practiced law in New Albany for a brief time. He worked in media at Northeast and taught a class in real estate and paralegal. Eventually, he became an insurance agent and worked for Farm Bureau for over 30 years serving neighbors in his community. Randy loved the Lord, his family, his Orchard church home family and friends, great food, good music, and classic cars. He'd recall his seasons of life by what type of car he was driving at the time. He will be sweetly remembered by his most memorable smile that was both lovingly welcoming and often times mischievous yet always caring. This kind, gentle man is survived by wife of 54 years, Donna Doom Cobb, son Dustin Cobb (Jim) of McKinney, TX, his daughter, Julie Brock (Chris) and grandchildren, Bella and Brody Brock all of New Albany. He is also survived by one brother, Rodger Cobb (Kay) of Fairhope, AL, and his sister Betty Brewer (Charlie) of Canton, MS. Randy Cobb will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. A celebration of life service will be held at United Funeral Service on Saturday November 11, 2023 at 11:00am with Dr. Bryan Collier officiating. A visitation will be the same day from 9:00am until the start of the service. "Ecru- Sara Paulette Speck, known to her friends and family as Polly, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 1, 2023. She was born May 25, 1946 to Homer and Omie Lessel Dye in New Albany, MS. She attended Blue Mountain College and received her B. S. in Elementary Education from Mississippi College. She married Dr. James Speck on August 20, 1965 at Blue Springs Baptist Church. Together they raised four beautiful children, Jeannie, Anna, Jodie, and Wilson. Her love and dedication for her family was immeasurable. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Polly was a member of Ecru Baptist Church and lived her life as a testament to her faith in Jesus Christ. In addition to her dedicated role as a mother, Polly assisted her husband, Dr. James Speck in managing Ecru Medical Clinic for many years. She was a spouse who supported him in his work to provide care for his community and even rode along with him to make house calls in the early days of his practice. She was a talented artist who loved crafts and music. She is survived by her loving husband, Dr. James Speck, three daughters, Jeannie Thompson, Anna Guntharp (Keith), Jodie Parham (Joe), one son, Wilson Speck (Emily), her grandchildren Matthew Guntharp (Lindsay), Dr. Adam Guntharp, Benton Thompson, Sara Lyons (Dustin), Blake Guntharp, Emily Hendrickson (Matt), Nolan Guntharp, Lily Parham, Caroline Speck, Allyson Speck, Charlie Parham, and Will Speck, her great-grandchildren, Elouise Thompson, Cara Lyons, Parker Guntharp, and Kit Hendrickson. She is preceded in death by her parents. The family will have a private service to honor the life of Mrs. Speck at United Funeral Home.
