Isidoro (Lolo) De La Rosa Jr. , age 50, of Austin passed from this life on Monday, October 2nd, 2023 in Austin. He was born on the 16th day of November 1972 in Temple to parents Isidoro Sr. and Betty De La Rosa (Trevino). Isidoro attended Temple High School and worked in construction most of his life. He was a Catholic. Lolo will be deeply missed by many friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents, his paternal grandparents whom raised him until school age, Luis and Virginia De La Rosa, and by his maternal grandparents, Castulo and Petra Trevino. Isidoro leaves behind to cherish his memory his sons Troy De La Rosa and spouse Nissa, Timothy De La Rosa and spouse Heather, daughter Olivia Hammell and spouse Joseph, sister Dora De La Rosa and spouse Luis Arce, brothers Orlando De La Rosa and spouse Hector, Tony De La Rosa, and four grandchildren. A mass for Isidoro will be held at St. Luke Catholic Church on Friday, October 13th, 2023, at 10 a. m. with Father John Guzaldo officiating. The family will be accepting visitors at Hewett-Arney Funeral Home on Thursday, October 12th, 2023, from 6 to 8 p. m. with the rosary recited at 6:30 p. m. Following the mass Isidoro will be buried at Hillcrest Cemetery. Hewett-Arney Funeral Home of Temple is entrusted with these arrangements.

Eric V. Stalbaum, 72, of Temple, a devoted family man and dedicated public servant, passed away on November 28, 2023 in Temple, Texas. Born on March 4, 1951 in Rensselaer, Indiana to Mr. Vincent Stalbaum and Donna (McIlvain) Stalbaum Eric led a fulfilling life filled with remarkable achievements and cherished memories. Growing up on the family farm, Eric developed a love for animals and the outdoors from an early age. His passion for horsemanship led him to participate in local rodeos and showcase his skills in quarter horse displays. After completing his military service, Eric returned to his roots and embarked on a career as one of the Indiana State Marshalls. With an unwavering commitment to serving his community, Eric then joined the Jasper County Deputy Sheriff's office and dedicated himself to upholding the law. His tenure lasted until 2003 when he decided to retire from his distinguished role. Seeking new opportunities and fresh challenges, Eric relocated to Temple, Texas where he quickly became an active contributor to the community. Eric's desire to keep making a difference led him to accept a position as a regional manager for Schilli Leasing. He excelled in this role until December 2008 when he ultimately entered retirement. During this time, Eric met the love of his life in 2007, Sheri Lee Wise. Together, they embarked on an incredible journey of camping, dancing, and attending concerts – creating lifelong memories filled with joy and shared experiences. They married on May 8, 2010. While passionate about his various careers and interests, Eric was equally devoted to his hobbies outside of work. Cooking brisket and grilling brought him immense joy, allowing him to showcase his culinary skills while bringing loved ones together for unforgettable gatherings filled with laughter and storytelling. Recognized for his dedication to public service and commitment to the well-being of others throughout his life, Eric proudly served as a member of the National Rifle Association. He also contributed greatly to the City of Temple by serving on various boards, including the Public Safety Advisory Board (PSAB) and the Civilian Police Advisory Committee, where he lent his expertise to help shape policies that would benefit the community he held dear. Eric's larger-than-life personality endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Outgoing, funny, and incredibly caring, he possessed a servant's heart that touched countless lives. Known for his selflessness, Eric was always willing to lend a helping hand and had a reputation for giving others the shirt off his back if they were in need. His love knew no bounds – he was a romantic who held unconditional affection for everyone around him. Eric's sentimental nature extended to family heirlooms, which he cherished dearly as tangible reminders of his loved ones. He was a proud grandfather which made precious memories for the children to include; owning their first BB gun, or riding in a limo to the Kevin Fowler concert, and taking them to their first Rodeo. Aside from his illustrious professional life and passionate pursuits, Eric took particular pride in his family. He is survived by his beloved mother, Donna Stalbaum, who provided unwavering support throughout his life journey. Eric's adoring wife of 13 years, Sheri L. (Wise) Stalbaum, stood by his side as they built a beautiful life together filled with love and shared experiences. In addition to his mother and wife, Eric leaves behind cherished memories with his siblings: Dawn Liston and her husband Gary, Cindy Burton and her husband Kent, Kevin Stalbaum and his wife Amy. Memories filled with love will also endure through four children: Becky Heilmann and her husband Mick, John Stalbaum and his wife Min Ju, Tiffany Stalbaum, and Tyler Stalbaum. The joyous legacy of Eric's life extends further with the presence of ten cherished grandchildren. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary individual who touched so many lives along his journey, we find solace in honoring Eric V. Stalbaum's memory as a loving son, devoted husband, doting father, proud grandfather, compassionate public servant, and cherished friend. His unwavering commitment to his community, contagious sense of humor, and selfless nature will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and kindness will forever reverberate in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him. Following a life well-lived, Eric peacefully passed away while taking a nap. It is comforting to know that he rejoiced in his Christian faith, finding solace in meeting his savior. He leaves behind a profound impact on our lives, and we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will forever be with us. Lillie Mae Klehm Gross, 84, passed away on November 27, 2023 in Temple, Texas surrounded by her family and loved ones. Lillie was born on April 10, 1939 in Brenham, Texas to Henry and Lillian Quebe Becker. She was baptized on May 14, 1939 and later confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill. She was united in marriage to Wilbert Paul Klehm (1959-1991) and then united in marriage to Eddie Gross (1994-1995) she remained with her companion James Ricks (1997-2020). She was a beautician and owned and operated Lil's Beauty Salon in Brenham for many years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg and Covenant Lutheran Church of Temple. She was a member of VFW Post 1820 and American Legion Post 133 and volunteered at the Veteran's Hospital in Temple, Tx. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouses, four brother-in-laws, two sister-in-laws. She is survived by her sons, Glen Klehm of Chappell Hill and Steve and Rose Ricks of Moody, Tx. ; brother, H. C. Becker of Katy, Tx and sister-in-law, Florence Klehm of Chappell Hill; grandchild, Derek Klehm of Brenham. Two step Daughters, Mary Millard of Iowa and Nancy Alcozer of Belton, Tx. Pallbearers are Steve Ricks, Forest Ward, Lonnie Tegeler, Steven Glaesmann, Ronnie Klehm, and Scott Shultz. Honorary Pallbearers are the church family of Covenant Lutheran Church and Jan Ebertowski. Gilbert "Gil" Ronald Hickenbottom, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 18, 2023, in Temple, Texas. He was known for his unwavering faith, military service, love for reading, and his dedication to helping others. Gil leaves behind a legacy of resilience and kindness that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. Funeral services will take place on Monday, December 18, 2023, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton at 1 pm. Following the service, Gil will be laid to rest with military honors at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen at 3 pm. Born on October 24, 1931, to Ronald and Opal Hickenbottom in Kansas City, Kansas, Gil grew up with a strong sense of duty and dedication instilled in him from an early age. After completing his education, he answered the call to serve his country and joined the United States Army. Rising through the ranks to Lieutenant Colonel, Gil became a decorated combat veteran with an outstanding military career that spanned the Korean War and the Vietnam War. During his time in the military, Gil exhibited incredible bravery as a fixed and rotary wing pilot. His exceptional skill and strength of character earned him numerous accolades, including the Bronze Star and the Legion of Merit. Despite facing life-threatening challenges throughout his service, he miraculously survived three crash landings, one of which involved landing his plane upside down on the unforgiving Alaskan Tundra. These near-death experiences only strengthened his resolve and taught him valuable lessons about life's fragility. After retiring from the military with honor and distinction, Gil found success in management at New York Life Insurance Company and pursuing his entrepreneurial dream by owning a sandwich shop. Beyond his professional achievements, Gil was devoted to his faith as a dedicated servant of Jesus Christ. A morning routine that consisted of reading his Bible while savoring a cup of coffee became a cherished ritual for him. Gil's love for God extended beyond his personal devotion; he actively supported various ministries, including Jimmy Swaggart Ministries, and contributed to those in need in Israel. In his leisure time, Gil found solace in listening to The Gaither Band Homecoming Album, finding comfort and joy in the uplifting melodies of gospel music. He had a green thumb and spent countless hours tending to his yard and garden. Gil also had a love for adventure and embraced R. V. traveling and camping to explore the wonders of nature. An avid reader, Gil indulged in a wide variety of literature. Military history captivated his attention, fueling his insatiable thirst for knowledge about past conflicts. Western novels allowed him to immerse himself in tales of courage, while Christian faith books provided spiritual nourishment. Gil is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Joy Hickenbottom; sister, Orilla Dean Hickenbottom; and son, Rick Hickenbottom. Those left to honor his memory and carry on his legacy are his wife, Billie Jean Hickenbottom; sons, Ronald Hickenbottom, and Marvin D. Kizer; daughter, Jolene K. McClendon; 3 grandchildren, Jamie N. Walker, Joey A. Walker, and Rhonda F. McAdow; and 8 great grandchildren, Hannah R. South, Maxwell J. McAdow, Alice G. McAdow, Van H. McAdow, Lily N. Walker, Abby L. Walker, Ava L. It is with heavy hearts that Lawrence's family, Larry "Papa" Wilson, announces his passing. He was a retired Colonel of the US Army Reserves and was born September 7, 1933, in Colorado Springs, CO, to Paul Dennis Wilson and Helen Feather. After serving his country, he worked as an RN at VA hospitals in various cities across the United States, including Hastings & Lincoln, NE; Los Angeles, CA; Hot Springs, SD; Des Moines, IA; and finally, Temple, TX, where he retired as the Supervisor of the Nursing home care Unit in 1988. He met and married an incredibly wonderful woman, Mary Alford, on December 31, 1988, who steadfastly was by his side at the time of our loss. Larry always exhibited his love for his country as a true patriot, and his proudest moment was being the Chief Nurse. He always felt immense pleasure in walking into a room and telling the patients that he was there to help them. But more than his service to the country and his patients, he was a wonderful father. He was always there for his family, and after retiring to Belton, TX, he devoted his time to investing in their lives. Larry enjoyed spending time on the farm, raising farm animals, and helping care for the pecan orchard. He had a passion for golf, and the farm provided some driving range opportunities when not at the course. He had a soft spot for dogs and cats and made sure that no pet or stray animal went without care. His love for his family, country, and the farm was nothing short of remarkable. He will be missed dearly by everyone who knew him. His family takes comfort in knowing that he is now in a better place. He is survived by his wife, Mary Wilson; sons, Dennis Wilson, and Jeff Wilson; and daughter, Leesa Wilson; many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was born on November 12, 1935, in Coupeland, Texas to the late Jose and Tomasa Garcia. Mary's journey through life left an enduring impact on all those who were blessed to know and love her. Mary's warm smile and kind heart touched the lives of many. She was known for her unwavering compassion and selflessness towards others. Mary's faith also played a vital role in her life. A devoted Catholic, she found solace and strength in her relationship with God. Mary cherished spending time with loved ones above all else. Mary leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, compassion, and generosity. She will be deeply missed by her numerous friends, relatives, and all those whose hearts she touched. Though Mary's physical presence may be gone, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Tomasa Garcia; her loving husband, Victor Mares, Sr. ; brother, Albert Garcia; son, Victor Mares, Jr. ; infant son, Victor Mares; daughter, Silvana Mares; and granddaughter, Victoria Aviles. Those left to carry on her memory and legacy are her sons, Michael Mares, Robert Mares, and Eloy Mares; daughters, Mary Linda Cobos, Olga Moreno, Yolanda Mares, Rebecca Miller, and Lilly Mares; 26 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and 13 great great grandchildren. Henry Franklin Berg, 91, of Mount Erie, Illinois, passed away on November 26, 2023 in Temple, Texas. He was born on November 11, 1932 in Mount Erie, Illinois to Bedie and Pearl Berg. Frank was raised in Mount Erie and carried a fondness for his hometown and siblings. After graduating high school, he continued his education at Southern Illinois University. There he studied engineering, joined ROTC, and was on the basketball team. He met and married Dollie Mae while at James Connally Air Force Base. He taught shop and English at Richfield High School as well as the Methodist Children's Home in Waco. Military assignments sent him from Waco, Texas to Dover, Delaware until he retired to Abilene, Texas. Frank served in the Air Force and was revered by his fellow fliers for his expertise. He served his country during the Vietnam War in Spooky Operations. He was a navigator on the C5 and co-pilot on C130 across the world. He was a certified Bush pilot, and an avid aviator. Frank had a wide range of hobbies and club memberships. He was an active member of the American Legion, Masonic Lodge, VFW Abilene, and Shriners. He enjoyed being a private pilot and was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. Frank will be remembered by his children: Cathy Riojas, Patricia Berg, David Berg, and Darrell Berg. He also leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will cherish his memory. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Dollie Berg, his dear parrot Buzz, and his siblings Dewey, Bedie, Carrol, Zula, Helen, and Irene. The family would like to extend gratitude to the William Courtney Veterans staff in Temple as well as Compassus Hospice for the remarkable care shown to him toward the end of his life.
