Shirley Ann Haynes, born November 20, 1936, native of Baton Rouge, LA, former resident of Denham Springs, LA of 40 years, and of Wisner, LA of 11 years, and current resident of Kissimmee, FL, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at the age of 87. Shirley was a devoted wife of 58 years to Billy Joe Haynes and devoted mother to three daughters. A graduate of Baker High School, Shirley retired in 2003 after a career in office administration. She was known for her selfless devotion to her family and friends, her spunky personality, and her sense of humor. She loved spending time with her family, enjoying good food, and watching LSU and Saints football. She is survived by her daughters; Vickie Cornette and husband, Ron, Veronica Accornero and husband, John, and Vanessa Haynes; grandchildren, Clay and Shay Cornette, and Tsion and Milo Accornero; great-grandchild, Helena Cornette; and brothers, William “Sonny” Stiles, Gary Stiles, and Brad Stiles. Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Haynes; parents, William Joseph Stiles and Alma Elvina Stiles; and beloved cat, Victor. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 9:00am until the time of funeral services at 10:00am. Interment will immediately following at Greenoaks Memorial Park. In remembrance of Shirley’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the American Lung Association. Ronald W. Ewing, 87, of Lynde St., Plattsburgh passed away Monday, January 8, 2024 at his winter home in Kissimmee, Florida.Ron was born in Plattsburgh on February 29, 1936 the son of Henry and Elise (Twinning) Ewing. After graduating from MAI, Ron enrolled in the military serving 4 years in the United States Air Force, as a security police officer in the Korean War, Albuquerque New Mexico and Japan. Ron returned back to the north country where he attended barber shop in Buffalo NY, after graduating from barber school he opened his own barber shop on Peru St. In 1969 he began his career as a law enforcement officer with the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, serving his community as a Deputy Sheriff for 38 years, retiring 2004. The highlights of his career were spent patrolling Lake Champlain, over the years Ron got the nickname “Lake Lord”. Over the span of his career, he was instrumental in teaching the New York State Parks and Rec boater safety course with his partner Deputy Hilliker for many years. When Ron wasn’t enforcing the law, you could find him cutting hair at the Trinity Barber Shop that he owned and operated for over 40 years.Survivors include his wife, Diana R. Ewing of Plattsburgh; his son R. Scott Ewing of Plattsburgh; Sylvia A. Johnson of Bernallilo, NM, Timothy J. Johnson of Rio Rancho, NM, Linda Zath of Rio Rancho, NM, John L. Myers of Perkins, OK, Tina J. Myers of Perkins, OK, Cheyanne A. Myers of Oklahoma City, OK, and Justin L. Myers of Ft. Worth, TX.Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 18th from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the R. W. Angelo "Johnny" Carrion, 86, of Kissimmee, Florida, passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at his home. He was born on January 27, 1938, in Catano, Puerto Rico to the late Emiliano and Encarnacion Carrion. Johnny had an adventurous spirit from a young age, joining the United States Marine Corps at just 16 years old, where he served from 1954 to 1958 with honor and dedication. Following his military service, Johnny embarked on a career dedicated to service and protection. He began by working at a mental hospital, always sharing his sharp wit and humor with those around him making sure to let people know he only worked there and wasn’t a patient! Later, he joined the Suffolk County New York Police Force, where he became known for his tenacity and commitment to justice. His dedication led him to specialize as a Suffolk County Narcotic Detective, spending 20 years fearlessly conducting undercover work to combat crime in his community. Upon retiring from the police force, Johnny continued his service to the law as a US Court Officer under the US Marshal's Service in San Juan, Puerto Rico. His unwavering dedication to upholding the law was evident throughout his career. Outside of his professional life, Johnny was a man of many talents and passions. He found joy in woodworking, gardening, and music, often sharing his love for these hobbies with family and friends by gifting them his home grown avocado or passion fruit trees. Johnny was also renowned for his culinary skills, particularly as the official “coquito maker” of the family gatherings. Johnny was a member of various associations, including the Suffolk County Police Benevolent Association, Suffolk County Detectives Association, and the Retired Police Association of the State of New York, where he formed lifelong friendships and bonds with fellow officers. Johnny will be deeply missed by his children, Michele, Anthony, Camille, Kareen, and Annette; his seven grandchildren, Ricky, Sabrina, Racquel, Alanna, Angelina, Anthony, and Korben; as well as many more loving relatives and friends who were touched by his warmth, humor, and generosity. In honoring Johnny's memory, may we strive to embody his spirit of service, humor, and love for life. A memorial gathering for Johnny will be held Sunday, March 3, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road South, Flagler Beach, Florida 32136, followed by a memorial service with military honors at 2:00 PM.
