Irma Marie Peichoto was born in Newman on March 17, 1918 to Frank T. and Anna Freitas and now she has passed away on June 16, 2022 at the age of 104. She was a loving wife, mom, grand, great grand and great-great grandma. The love of her life came along during WWII, Joseph Silveira Peichoto. She followed him around the USA during WWII to various assignments while he was in the Army and married August 4, 1943. They would stay together until his death in 1981. She never remarried and now the two are together again. She is survived by her sons, Vernon and Gary (Neal); grandchildren, Joel (Jacoba) Peichoto, Adam Peichoto, Todd (Candice) Peichoto, and Mia Brudnicki; great-grandchildren, Emily (Clayton), Joseph, Gino, Gigi, Cora, Guiliani, Gambino; Garrett; and great-great grandchildren, Maxwell and Rory. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; son, Tom; brothers, Frank and Vick and sister, Ann. Irma was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Native Daughters of the Golden West-Morada Parlor, and for many decades a member of the Portuguese Fraternal Society of America. Irma started out as a hairstylist, but her hands and nails did not tolerate the harsh chemicals. She raised three sons on the same property she grew up on. She loved to have family gatherings and would sing "We are Family" at them. She was the glue that kept our family together. She loved to dance and was on a bowling team in her younger days. After her three boys grew up, she loved to travel with Joe and a group of friends. She loved cats and cat memorabilia of which many were displayed. She was loved for her sense of humor, quick remarks, and genuine concern for whoever she was conversing with. If you needed your day brightened up, Irma was the one to see. Everyone who met her has a story to tell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, June 24th at the Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles in Gustine. Interment to follow at Hills Ferry Cemetery in Newman. Remembrances may be directed to: Orestimba Scholarship Community Association (TOSCA), P. O. Box 18, Newman, CA 95360.
