IRIS CAROL JANE TUCKEY Iris Carol Jane Tuckey, 89, of Cass City died peacefully in her home on September 8, 2023. She was born on April 30, 1934 in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Iris Clark and Vance Irene Chamberlain. While attending college in Nebraska she met a dashing, blue eyed airman and fell in love. She married Charles H. Tuckey on April 6, 1955 and transitioned from city girl to rural life. Iris loved her family, the Lord, and her community. She lived a life of service and was quick to volunteer where needed. Iris served on various boards, taught Sunday school, and junior choir at Salem United Methodist and later the Cass City United Methodist Church. She was chairman of the Tuscola County Mental Health Board, chairman of the Rawson Memorial Library Board, led many fundraisers for the community, and was a cub scout and girl scout leader. Her friends will remember Iris’s fantastic hospitality, excellent cooking, and joyful laugh. Above all, Iris was a wonderful wife and mother and truly exceptional "Nonnie"/grandma. She loved her family and liked nothing better than having them all together. Iris was not afraid to try anything and modeled that behavior to her children and grandchildren. She was extremely creative, enjoying sewing, knitting, painting, and crafts of all sorts. Many of you may have received a handmade gift from her at one time or another. Iris was an avid gardener of both flowers and vegetables. Iris is survived by her loving husband of sixty-eight years, Charles; their children: Charles R. (Debbie) Tuckey of Dexter, Cindy (Gary) Bader of Cass City, Lori (Rick) Wright of Hardeeville, SC; John Tuckey of Eastanolle, GA; grandchildren: Matthew, David, Joshua, Jenna, Julia, Nicholas, Trevor, Aaron; six great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Virgilee Krueck; daughter-in-law, Betsy Tuckey; brother-in-law, George Krueck; nephew, Tom Krueck. Funeral service held 1:00 p. m. Sunday, September 17, 2023 in the Cass City United Methodist Church with Rev. Eldred Kelley officiating. Interment in Elkland Township Cemetery. GEORGE STEVE FRANK George S. Frank, 89, of Cass City, passed away peacefully Friday, December 1, 2023 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 21, 1933 in Colwood, to Albert and Ethel (Popp) Frank. He married Beverly Ann McClorey on February 20, 1960 in St. Pancratius Catholic Church, Cass City. George attended Caro Schools and a few months at Michigan State University before joining the United States Army during the Korean war. He was a Radar Specialist serving in Greenland. After his discharge, he worked for Moore Telephone Company in Caro before going to work at Farmers Co-Op Elevator in Akron. George worked his way up as a manager in Akron, Caro, and Lapeer and retired in 1997. He was a member of Our Lady Consolata Parish, Cass City where he served as an usher, greeter and was a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus-Central Thumb Council #8892. George was also a member of the American Legion Post #7 of Caro. He enjoyed traveling and visiting many states. George loved to garden and took pride in the beautiful roses that he grew every year. He enjoyed woodworking, making beautiful handmade craft for his grandkids. George also enjoyed watching and caring for the wild birds outside his home. He was a talented cook and grilled delicious meals for his family; he baked cookies and treats, especially at Christmas time. George was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. George is survived by his wife of sixty-three wonderful years, Beverly of Cass City; four children who he loved dearly: Gregory (Kim) Frank of Cass City; Kevin (Deborah) Frank of Cass City; Michelle (Erik) Bootz of Cass City; Sandra (Steve) Weeks of Cass City; ten grandchildren: Grant (Sally) Frank, Chelsey (Jessie) McComas, Cassady (Jeremy) Verran, Jessica (Nick) Kappen, Samuel (Cali) Bootz, Breanna Frank, Benjamin Bootz, Seth Frank, Emily (Jared) Bootz, Hailey Weeks; two step grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; seven siblings and their spouses; many nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass held 1:30 p. m. Wednesday, December 6, 2023 in Our Lady Consolata Parish, Cass City with Fr. Robert Pare officiating. Interment will be in Ellington Township Cemetery. Beulah Marie Green of Caro, age 92, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Hills & Dales Hospital in Cass City. Beulah was born November 29, 1930 in Pigeon, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Harris) Muentener. She graduated from Pigeon High School and on August 20, 1949, Beulah married Delos Green at Bay Port United Methodist Church. Their marriage was blessed with over forty-eight years before his passing on November 10, 1997. Beulah loved to make quilts, crochet, go on trips, and spend time with her family. She belonged to the Caro MI221 Tops Club since 1961 and was a member of the Caro First Baptist Church for over sixty-six years. Beulah remained active with the church and adored her church family. She was a regular volunteer at Caro Human Development, remaining active up until just a couple weeks ago, making sure to never miss a Wednesday. Her beautiful smile and kind and loving soul will be missed, yet lovingly remembered for years to come. Beulah leaves to cherish her memory, her son, David Green of Harbor Springs; daughter, Gail Green of East Lansing; granddaughter, Adrienne (Gaurav) Chadha of Northville and great-granddaughter, Noorvi Chadha. In addition to her parents and husband, Beulah was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda at the age of 12; two brothers, William Muentener and Gerald Muentener. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 11:00 a. m. at the Caro First Baptist Church. Rev. Marc Herron will officiate with interment taking place in Indianfields Twp. Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 3:00 p. m. until 8:00 p. m. at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro and again on Wednesday at church from 10:00 a. m. until the time of her service. JOANN MARIE PETERS Joann M. Peters, 61, of Cass City, died unexpectedly Monday, November 13, 2023 surrounded by loved ones. She was born February 18, 1962 in Pigeon to Anton and Marilyn (Osborn) Peters. Joann enjoyed nature, fall color tours, and taking pictures of eagles while in her kayak on the river. She collected rocks on many of her adventures. With these rocks, Joann made specific hand-crafted gifts for family and friends, specific to their individual characteristics. She took pride working for Michigan Salon Services in Cass City and especially dealing with customers. Joann delighted in the care of the flower gardens at the Cass City Gun Club. She was passionate about her views on social justice. Joann maintained a special bond and relationship with her grandson, Aidan, who called her "Wama". She loved singing loudly and with feeling. Joann will be remembered most for being a lot of fun, having a heart of gold, and love for her family and friends. She was thrilled to be called "Awesome Aunt Jo". Joann is survived by her daughter, Antonette (Kadhem) Sallemi of Vassar; grandson, Aidan Hiiter; parents, Anton (Marilyn) Peters of Cass City; siblings: Cindy Peters of Ann Arbor; Sally (Larry) Sines of Clinton; Patrick Peters and Tina of Bad Axe; step daughters: Janelle and Jaclyn; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews. RONALD CHESTER ZOLCIENSKI Ronald C. Zolcienski, age 74, passed away October 28, 2023, in Cass City. He was born on August 10, 1949, in Hamtramck to Chester and Pelagia (Mucha) Zolcienski. Ron dedicated thirty years of his life to working diligently at General Motors, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and commitment. Outside of his professional life, Ron found solace in the simple joys of life. He was a proud Eagle Scout with many awards and certificates to showcase his efforts. Ron had a deep love for nature and spent his leisure time indulging in pursuits such as hunting and fishing. He loved the holidays and often went above and beyond decorating both the inside and outside of the house, for Halloween and Christmas. As the years went by and physical limitations crept in, Ron adapted and discovered a newfound passion for the casino. He enjoyed the thrill of chance and the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts; every visit was an adventure worth remembering. Ron loved telling stories and reminiscing about the past with people. Ron will be dearly missed and leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter through his surviving family members, including his daughters: Vicki (Dave) Vowell, Jamie (Jason Sanders) Zolcienski; granddaughters: Shelby Vowell, Kailey Vowell; brother, Lawrence Zolcienski; sister, Pat Baker; many nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Tristan Brooks. As we say our goodbyes, let us remember that life is but a journey, and Ron's road was filled with twists, turns, and plenty of laughter along the way. May his spirit continue to shine bright, guiding us through both the sunny days and the stormy nights. Rest in peace, Ron. And may your heavenly adventures be filled with endless puns and witty banter. May Ron's spirit find eternal peace, and may his memory live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. PAULINE KATHRYN HULBURT Pauline K. Hulburt, 103, of Cass City, went home to be with Jesus on October 24, 2023. She was born February 21, 1920 to John and Pearl Romig. She married Grover James Hulburt on November 6, 1937 and he predeceased her on July 3, 1989. Together they raised seven children: Ruth Ann Benavidez (deceased), Kenneth Hulburt (deceased), Gene Hulburt (deceased), Linda and Danny Brelinski, Richard Hulburt, Clifford Hulburt (deceased), and Paula and Bruce Gardner. Pauline is survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; daughters-in-law: JoAnne Hulburt, Terry Hulburt; very special nephews and nieces: Dave and Jeanie Stine, Dennis and Judy Hulburt; "daughters of the heart": Ruth, Mary Ann, Chris, Ardis and a host of additional family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters: Grace Paul, Frieda Vickers, Louis "Bud" Romig, Roberta Stine, John "Art" Romig. Pauline was grateful to be a member of the Cass City Missionary Church and loved to hear Dr. Phil Burkett’s messages. To all who showed their love to her, Thank You! She never stopped loving or praying for any one of her family and friends. Pauline felt Jesus walk with her throughout her life and especially during the trials of aging she would say, "Help me Jesus. Take my hand". And He did. FREDERICK J. POWELL SR. Frederick J. "Ted" Powell, 102, of Cass City, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2023 in Hills and Dales Healthcare, Cass City. He was born May 17, 1921 in Greenleaf Township one of seven children born to Roy and Florence (Duffield) Powell. He married Betty Cliff on October 23, 1948. Fred attended Owendale High School and was drafted into the U. S. Army in 1942. He served in the Second Armored Division, known as "Hell on Wheels" during World War II. After landing on Omaha Beach in Normandy, he crossed Europe in an anti-aircraft half-track. Fred fought in the historic Battle of the Bulge and finished his wartime service in Berlin, Germany in 1945. For his heroism and bravery, he was awarded a bronze star and a unique citation from the Belgian government. Following his return home, Fred worked on the family dairy farm which he eventually purchased and continued working until retiring in 1988. His hobbies were deer hunting, trapping, and fishing for walleye, pike, and perch. Fred was a lifelong Detroit Tigers fan and listened the games on the radio while during chores in the barn. He continued to maintain the farm after retirement but found time to enjoy gardening. Fred was a voracious reader, he highlighted specific lines of importance from his books and papers. During his later years, he pursued his interest in sketching and drew many pictures of scenes with animals. Fred is survived by his children: Brenda (Tom) Fulcher of Cass City, Mary (Don) Kerner of St. Augustine, FL; Frederick (Terrie) Powell, Jr. of Cass City; grandchildren: Mindy (Trent) LeValley, Thomas (Kim) Fulcher Jr. , Jessica Kerner, Jeremy Powell, Tara Powell, Justin Powell; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Barbara Poe. He was preceded in death by his siblings and their spouses: Sanford (Rita) Powell, Mike (Esther) Powell, Vern (Earline) Powell, Dean Powell, Virginia (Bill) Allison, Rosella (Bill) Kretchmer. EILEEN MARIE RIEVERT Eileen M. Rievert, 69, of Gagetown, passed away unexpectedly Monday, September 11, 2023 in Hills and Dales Hospital, Cass City. She was born July 13, 1954 in Cass City to Norman and Martha (Whidden) Emmons, Sr. She married her sweetheart, Dennis Jerald Rievert on May 12, 1973 in St. Peter Lutheran Church, Bach. Eileen attended Cass City High School. She worked as a CNA at Hills and Dales Hospital and Medilodge of Cass City. Eileen also worked as a manager for the Gagetown Senior Manor. She was passionate about working with seniors. Eileen’s hobbies included working in her flower beds, canning vegetables from her garden, and drinking coffee in the morning outside. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, especially singing karaoke with them. Eileen is survived by her husband of fifty years, Dennis; children: Jeffery (Jeanne) Rievert of Pontiac, Stacy Rievert of Riley, Sarah (Tom) Goreski of Bay City; grandchildren: Alexander, Courtnee, Maddielyn, Kendall, Kris, Haley, Elizabeth, Finnley, Anthony, Andrew, Annemarie; great grandchildren: Cooper, Brielle and one great grandson arriving in October; siblings: Richard Emmons, Leonard "Butch" Emmons, John Emmons, Ruth Ann (Noel) Loyd, Betty Lou Mayberry.
